NO EMOTION?!?.......2004-08-01

I can't imagine how anybody can think Mireille can't show emotion! She conveys the most emotion I've ever heard in a singer's voice (well, maybe Patsy Cline can be in her league). I've lived in Europe from the time I was born till 1981, where she was quite popular. She always gives me chicken skin when I listen to her voice. Too bad hardly any of her albums made it to the US. I'm always in search of albums of hers. Mireille is one of the best singers of all times!

Voice without emotion? Nonsense..........2003-12-26

I have longed to find the album she did with Paul Anka, yes, Paul Anka. My mother returned from a vacation in Quebec in the late seventies and came back with this one particular album. It's been in my head ever since. I used to listen to it all the time. Her voice was/is nothing short of emotion. I haven't heard that album in over twenty years and I'm still singing those songs in my head...

Her voice is powerful but this woman has never been able to communicate any kind of emotion. Maybe it is due to her lack of feeling. B. Streisand or Céline Dion are much better! Don't give a single penny for this CD.

What a great compilation.......2003-04-03

This album is a terrific compilation of Mireille's recordings. I lived overseas from 1974 -1983, and this is where I came upon this artist. I have many lps and now am getting many of her best songs on CD. Even on compilation albums, you are subject to doubling or tripling up on many tracts to get a particular one you want. Such is the case here. I wanted New York, New York sung in French. This tract was well worth the entire price of the CD.

When i first heard this artist almost 30 years ago, I fell in love with her voice. I do not understand French or German, but I can tell a beautiful singer, and this album is one of the best you can find if you are just starting a collection of hers. One warning - after listening to this one, you will soon be buying others.

Her Best..........2001-11-08

This record went Gold within a few months after its release in Canada. The collection contains some of the French singer's Greatest Hits dating back from 1966 to 1997. The album kicks off with (Mon Credo) one of her early sensations, which she recorded shortly after Edith Piaf's death. Mathieu was known to be the second Piaf however her choice of songs and career movements were quite dissimilar. Her own renditions of "Les Bicyclette de Belsize" originally performed by Engelbert, "On ne vit pas sans se dire adieu" J. Mathis & "Une Femme Amoureuse" B. Streisand among others, instantly turned her into an internationally acclaimed figure.
In the recent years, Mathieu returned back to the Studios for a rendition of T. Braxtons "Unbreak My Heart" (Reste Avec Moi) which quite beats the original, her own dramatic vocals and passion clearly states that she's still one of the best recording artists around. Mireille Mathieu continues to record albums in various languages, her latest album is in German "Alles Nur Ein Spiel".
Also available is "Mes Plus Grands Succes. Vol 2". Recommended.

This is the best CD I've ever heard. Mirey is a great singer, great woman and a great person. Her voice expresses her French soul which became international over the years. This CD is good for people from all the countries because Mirey's voice speaks for itself!

I will really recommend this CD to anyone who loves music and who knows what love is.
