worth money.......2007-05-24
this cd set is definately worth the money spent. i haven't heard some of the music before but was willing to give it a try.
Great Patriotic Music.......2007-02-21
Beautiful music perfect for feeling patriotic. Received CD promptly and in great condition.
A good choice of tunes with good quality.......2005-06-30
If you like military tunes and marches, this 2-CD is a good choice. The orchestration is good, it is well played and the quality of recording is good. If you like this kind of music, it is a good choice to buy.
Brilliant!!!.......2003-08-11
I have the CD at home and the songs sound fabulous. I've heard the Houston Symphony's version of the Star Spangled Banner many times on TV as this anthem has been used at sign-off (when this was happening). It's as powerful a version you'll hear. Probably the finest patriotic music CD you can find out there.
Best Patriotic Music I've Found.......2001-09-20
Loved the CD! I am buying it to use with a Musical Freestyle Ride for a Quadrille. A horse oriented endeaver. The music will be perfect to bring positive patriotism to fairs and fund raisers for NYC.

If You Like Hendrix & Skynrd.......2006-07-06
5 Stars = Masterpiece
Cry of Love put out two albums in the 90's, the excellent "Brother" & one of the best albums (my opinion) released in the 90's "Diamonds & Debris."
Cry of Love named themselves after a posthumous Jimi Hendrix album. So one would expect a healthy dose of Hendrixian guitar & that was definitely there, but this band also had its roots deeply dug into Southern Rock ala' Lynryd Skynyrd & with "Diamonds & Debris" put out one of the best heavy Southern Rock records ever made.
Cry of Love's lead singer also set the band apart sounding very much like John Schlitz of Head East, with all the emotive range of John to, a voice of gold that perfectly complemented the beautiful & sincere music that this band created.
Unfortunately Cry of Love is another band that came out ten years or more to late, as Grunge was starting to dominate the air waves & CD sales, but for anyone who has the slightest interest in Jimi Hendrix & Southern Rock do your self a favor & pick up both albums from this band, your ears will thank you for it!
Strat-o-licious.......2005-05-03
A diamond of post-classic rock. Aside from great songs and playing all around, this CD, along with COL's other CD, present the best Stratocaster tone achieved (that I've heard) to date. Of course that's a subjective statement. But I dare any true (non-surf) Strat connoisseur to listen to this CD and disagree. The only other Strat tone that comes close is Chris Duarte's on Texas Sugar/Strat Magik, but the songs here are much more durable.
What a shame Aubrey went over to the BCs. The two COL CDs blow away the entire BC catalog, IMO (and I'm a BC fan; they're great, just COL is better).
Let's hope they reunite one of these days. Meanwhile it will take a couple hundred more listens before I get tired of these two classic rock jewels.
Awesome!.......2002-08-18
I will tell you the truth. I've discovered this hard rock jewel just a month ago and there is nothing like discovering a band like Cry of Love on these days. Just listen to Hung Out To Dry and you will know what I am talking about - one of the 10 most delightful rock songs of the 90's.
timeless.......2002-07-18
Ah, no wonder I love this CD so much. Audley Freed on guitar. Check him out with The Black Crowes, especially "Live at the Greek" with Jimmy Page. Diamonds and Debris flows from track to track very well with songs that complement each other nicely. These guys remind me of bands from my youth like Grand Funk Railroad, Free, Bad Company, The James Gang, and even Jimmy Hendrix. Very "Joe Walsh" like with great hooks and lyrics. Try keeping a tear from your eye while listening to "Garden of Memories" after a couple glasses of wine in the evening. A nearly perfect and beautiful ode to love lost and the enevitable regrets of life. Currently my favorite CD. Come Back Sugarcane is a great song to wake up to in the morning. Really gets the endorphines flowing. Thanks guys! Good job!
cry of love, please get back together!.......2002-06-15
I believe the two Cry of Love cd's to be a necessity of every avid music appreciaters collection. When listening to these albums you can almost see a young Audley Freed sitting in his basement with a collection of Hendrix, Free, Stones, and maybe Mountain records, strat in hand, picking up the needle again and again to try and learn that essential lick. The guitar playing alone makes these cd's worth owning, and I personally guarantee that Freed would call Hendrix (isn't Cry of Love a Jimi man song?) and Paul Kosoff of Free his favorite guitar players. The songs have that explosive, sometimes funky, all the time soulful, southern feel to them, and as said before these albums are a must have. Thank you Cry of Love, your music has made my world a better place.

yes its great.......2006-12-24
i love primus. i reccommend this because of interesting covers of some songs that i had never heard except for have a cigar. i really really like 3/5 songs on here and i dont mind listening to the other 2. the songs i like are: intruder, making plans for nigel, and have a cigar.
Primus: Miscellaneous Debris.......2006-07-17
I've been a huge Primus fan for years now. I own, and have played to death all of their original albums. I never had any interest in this EP or 'Rhinoplasty' because I knew that they were cover albums, and did not contain any original Primus material. After I went and saw Primus' last (kick @$$) show of the 'Tour De Fromage' at the Roseland Ballroom back in '03, there was a period where I was listening to almost nothing but Primus until I went to see them again in Toranto Canada for the 'Hallucino-genetics' tour back in '04 and then I saw them yet again at the 'Vegoose' festival in '05. So i've been a little Primused out for a while.
I decided recently that I may as well complete my Primus album collection and picked this up along with Rhinoplasty. This EP contains only 5 cover tunes, and I was suprised how much I actually enjoyed it. The only tune I was familiar with was 'Have a Cigar' by Pink Floyd, I also have a couple of Residents albums, but have never heard 'Sinister Exaggerator'. I loved all of the songs, and enjoyed their take on the one tune I knew. It was definetly a breath of fresh air, and it showcases some of the bands/artists that have influenced this great band. I think of it as a sort of autobiography of Primus. And that's just the reason i'm really glad I waited so long on this one, because it serves well as kind of an afterthought.
Yeah, it's just 5 cover tunes. But it gets 5 STARS anyways, cuz it's Primus b*tch.
If You Have to Have Everything..........2006-06-29
Les Claypool is not a great singer, not really even a good singer, but he has an offbeat and charismatic sound that you won't get anywhere else. When he writes songs for his own voice, the limitations rarely matter. But he cannot come close to capturing Peter Gabriel's sinister leer on "Intruder" or the quirkiness of XTC on "Making Plans for Nigel," nor does Primus reinterpret the tunes enough to compensate. "Sinister Exaggerator" gets better, because it doesn't ask as much vocally and because the ending allows Primus to settle into one of their trademark grooves. The real success of the EP, though, comes after a brief "Tippi Toes" interlude: Pink Floyd's "Have A Cigar." Claypool doesn't mimic Roy Harper here; his version of Floyd's record executive is demented rather than just shallow. And unlike the other covers, this one significantly reinterprets the music into the sort of hard-edged hippie funk that made Primus so important. In sum, unless you can buy the last track through an on-line service, this recording is really only for people who feel they have to own everything Primus did.
An Alright Covers EP.......2006-03-30
In between the masterpiece that is Sailing the Seas of Cheese and the bizarre twisted artwork of Pork Soda, Primus released Miscellaneous Debris; a 5 song covers EP to tide fans over until the next album. What do I say on it? It's interesting. Not the normal primus per say but still definitely Primus. I suggest that you listen to the originals beforehand because then you really see how much Primus "Prima-tized" them. Most noticeably are the first 2 songs which are significantly heavier than the originals.
1. Intruder (originally by Peter Gabriel) 10/10: definitely the best song on the album, a huge improvement on the original.
2. Making Plans for Nigel (originally by XTC) 8/10 another improvement over the original as XTC's version is VERY annoying.
3. Sinister Exaggerator (originally by the Residents) 7/10: a calm relaxing and yet disturbing song that is extremely weird. Of course it's weird, it's the Residents. Two other Residents covers can be found as the bonus track on Frizzle Fry.
4. Tippi Toes (originally by the Meters) 5/10: alright this is definitely the filler song. It's an instrumental but its kind of a waste to put it here on a five song album especially since its only 1:26.
5. Have a Cigar (originally by Pink Floyd) 9/10: yeah this is the second best song here. Primus doing Pink Floyd is cool. The reason it's not a 10/10 is because I have a habit of zoning out during this track.
So that's miscellaneous Debris. The only thing I don't really agree with is the price. Twelve bucks is a little high for a 5 song EP. 6 or 8 sounds more reasonable. So get this for a cheaper price and you have a good deal. Though I don't own all the Primus albums out there (I will eventually), they have never disappointed me. Enjoy.
Skeeter says "buy me"........2005-10-04
I normally don't pay much attention to EP's or CD singles, but "Miscellaneous Debris" is hard not to like. Obviously it's short, and only 5 tracks, but two of them are excellent. In my opinion, "Making Plans For Nigel" is one of the best things Primus has ever done. It's just a rockin' XTC cover, and these are all covers by the way. The other is "Have A Cigar". Maybe it's because I dig Pink Floyd also, but's it great to hear them give it the ol' Primus touch. The other three tracks are decent as well. Album-wise you can't beat the first two, but give this a shot if you see it used.

Album Description
"Midnight Landing," is 10 Ft. Ganja Plant's second release on ROIR. Their first, entitled "Hillside Airstrip", was uniformly hailed by the music press. "Midnight Landing," at it's heart, is inspired by the recording processes of the great Jamaican studio bands of the 70's (and their American counterparts, Motown and Stax) where a song was potentially written, learned, and recorded in one session, with the band playing live on one track and then being voiced on the second track, with no regrets, and no apologies. Add to this ethos, some dubwise studio mastery and experimentation ("Chanting Nyabinghi", inspired by the African drumming style, is a creative departure and one of the best tracks they've ever cut) and you begin to get the picture.

Customer Reviews:
Good. Reggae. Album........2007-03-25
A very palatable combination of instrumental, rock-steady, roots, and dub reggae with a somewhat Euro feel to it (think early Steel Pulse perhaps). One star deducted for some spotty production values (a bit of harshness to the mix, with some distortion that might even be intentional, i don't know).
Midnight Landing.......2005-03-06
Absolutely no originality to this album. I purchased "No Bed of Roses" along with this album and it's much better (no wonder with Reggae ace Style Scott leading the project). The whole tiime I was listening to Midnight Landing I thought that perhaps there will be one song anyway that made the purchase worthwhile, and I had to wait until the very last song to think "yeah, maybe that one." There was no compeling instrumentals on this album either and I really wish they would quite trying to imitate Augustus Pablo with that melodica. I won't blame previous reviewers who liked the album because I already had it before reading my first review, but sorry you people should try listening to Isreal Vibration or Misty In Roots if you really want roots music. I hope I like John Brown's Body better because I was actually looking for their Spirits All Around album when I found this one. (not an internet purchase this time). Too bad I can't return this one.
Amazing.......2004-02-27
I was surprised that I had never heard of 10 Ft. Ganja Plant's music because this album is quite good. Draws quite a close resemblance to South African Reggae. My favorite song is "Let the music hit"
Not as good as hillside airstrip.......2004-02-11
This new release is a let down compaired to their first album. The vocals are different and not as powerful. Althought they still have that strong and melodic rythem. I am still a huge fan but a little dissappointed
GOOD, BUT NOT HILLSIDE AIRSTRIP.......2004-01-16
For the second outing, the Plant came with a solid effort. They had nice riddims, but the grooves were deeper on the first album. It took a few listens this time for me to get into them, yet in the end they won me over. Still worthwhile.

psychobilly romper room stomp.......2006-06-05
I have been listening to the "cemetary shoes" album. Okay now be warned before you rush into Johnny he is considered to be in the Genre of "PSYCHOBILLY" so if you do not have at least a passsing appreciation of Rockabilly, punk, goth, and alt country. So don't blame me if he scares the hell out of you or you just don't get it, but if you can get past any prejudices or dislikes you initially have of the music and really listen to the man, he has something to say and a very unique way of saying it. you can hear a few samples of Johnny on his website at www.johnnydowd.com Here are the lyrics to one of his songs that I really like the words to,
Billy Blu
A crooked little man / lives in the underground
Sometimes he goes up / but mostly he stays down
People call him Billy / William is his name
In the coming darkness / he's the keeper of the flame
He repairs radios / with alien transistors
Cosmic commnication / between brothers and sisters
He has information / unavailable to most
He converses with angels / and sleeps with ghosts
Silence is a sadness / a bird with a song
Billy is a sailor / between right and wrong
A world of light and promise / is beyond his memory
In the present he is occupied / preparing for eternity
Lucifer is coming / don't let the children hear
The devil's in the wood pile / judgment day is near
Things that seem simple / are extremely complicated
When you scratch the surface / of things gold-plated
© Johnny Dowd
I hope the more adventurous of you take a listen and give him half a chance and those less adventurous look at all the pictures of his pretty face (well at least that was the one good thing one young lady could find about him). On another interesting note about Johnny he didn't record his first album until he was 50 years old. Well guess I can't complain I didn't put out my first book until I was 34, and I had twenty odd years of material back logged. Which we can really blame on Bob because I really didn't think much of the "bits" I wrote until I heard SBR and I thought man I want to make statements like that. I look at Johnny's lyrics and it so often reminds me of the ways that I string words together. So take a listen, check out what he says, and always keep an open mind, remember don't judge a book by it's cover (or a book of poetry by it's title).
Meh........2004-11-12
Man oh man...you know I love JD, but this album is sort of making me question me faith. I question whether two stars is really fair, but I gave three to The Pawnbroker's Wife, and this is definitely inferior to that one, so that's what it's getting. The most obvious disappointment here--and I think most fans would agree with me on this--is the absence of the immaculate Kim Sherwood-Caso's vocal talents. This was always a big part of the appeal of any Dowd album; she made good songs into stunning songs, and I suspect that, even if the ones here aren't as good as usual, she could have partially redeemed some of them. I certainly hope the two of them haven't had some sort of falling out, and that we'll hear more of her in future Dowd recordings.
Here's what's good about this album: the frenzied 'Garden of Delights.' I would say that this is the one song here that approaches classic status; an unnervingly intense tale of murder/suicide. Also pretty good: 'Wedding Dress,' with its entertaining southern gothic lyric (maybe Dowd should write books). That and 'Brother Jim' have a gospel feel to them (even if one's about a crossdressing butcher and the other a clerical murderer). 'Whisper in the Nag's Ear' might be okay on its own, but it just seems pointlessly overdone compared to the spare original version on Pictures From Life's Other Side.
But...most of the songs are just kind of there. Not unpleasant to listen to, but not exactly exciting either. I expect a lot more from the guy who wrote 'Worried Mind' and 'Hell or High Water.' Better luck next time.
Clever, smart, interesting music.......2004-11-09
Johnny Dowd makes me appreciate having ears to hear with and a mind to think with. Here is a man who, in a just world, would enjoy the success that more commercial musicians do today; that he does not is a real crime (then again, the world's loss is his fans' gain). His music is deep, dark and thoughtful, but well crafted, like an Alfred Hitchcock film. The tunes take some getting used to, as does his voice, because they cover material not usually associated with today's homogenized and emasculated pop and radio scene. But like most acquired tastes, you wonder how you ever got along without it. He writes music like the moon casts shadows, makes you look over your shoulder, and consider your fate. His albums, including his recent, Cemetary Shoes, deal with topics from the seamy side of life, a portion of the world that is anathema to the Britneys, the Jessicas, and the other pop tarts of music. If you appreciate artistry, thought and challenge, check out the Dowd catalog. Stretch your imagination a little. Take a chance on his music and experience an enveloping warmth that is cognition and emotion melding.

Difuse it, destroy it, abuse it and ENJOY it!!!!.......2007-02-26
You cannot go wrong with this fully energized EBM/ electro/ synthpop breath-of-fresh-air from Toronto. Although uneven in it's energy, each song has something different to offer, but still comming from the same "pool". You'll find yourself moving to the music either dancing or tapping your foot. Jennifer's songs stick in your mind. My favorite tracks are "Horrible Dream", "Red Shift", "Sapphire", "Disease", "Start Again", and "Beta Complex", although this is one of those rare cd's where I love every track.
On Febrary 20, 2007, I met Jennifer at a club called Pegasus in Pittsburgh, PA. There was a 3 band show---Angel Spit, Ayria, And The Cruxshadows. Ayria was the second act, and Jennifer brought down the house. Her keyboardist was jumping and dancing all over the place. he seemed like he was made of rubber! But his energy in dancing motivated everyone along with the high-intencity of the music and Jennifer's voice...which is amazing!
I had never heard Ayria before, so after the show I went to the table and bought "Debris" and when I turned around, there she was standing. She was a very nice person and took a few minutes to talk with me and let me get a picture with her. I told her I had never heard of her before, but I was very impressed, and she had gained a new fan that night with her show that it was fantastic! And now I am searching for all her different versions and singles.....
You cannot go wrong with this artist! She is worth the $$!

Album Description
Debris emerged from the innermost twisted regions of its creator's mind to harness strength for its physical arrival. Kiel, its creative force, began with a vision of music that could meld the untapped raw power and energy of "metal," the precision and pulse of "techno," and the elegance and beauty of "classical" composition. He spawned a whirlwind of aggression and lust that, when experienced, evokes every palpable emotion and invades into the further most regions of the human psyche.

Blew my mind.......2006-10-10
One of the band members comes to my coffee shop and dropped a copy off for me. Holy hell they rock! I've been listening to this cd non stop at work and can't get enough of it. A good buy for anyone who wants to rock all day
Debris Rocks!.......2006-03-17
I'm not usually a fan of this type of music, but I met a member of the Debris through circumstances unrelated to the band and promised him I'd listedn to their music. I did, and I'm totally hooked! Awesome lyrics, awesome, vocals, and especially awesome bass guitar. I've never liked all that screaming and stuff in music, but Kiel doesn't yell all the time. He actually sings too, and he does it well...which is a nice change from some of the crap that's out there. I love it!
misinformation.......2006-01-03
Thank you Mr. Newman for being thoroughly misinformed on the intent of Debris' music. Kiel Bishoprick is an incredible talent in metal as well as classical and rock music. I would like to see the interview in which he states that he uses his pipes and demons to sing. Debris is a band that strives to get people to think for themselves and are in no way devil worshipers. Their myspace site is fully functional and have a new lineup of incredible musicians that are dedicated to shattering perceptions of what a particular genre of music should sound like. As far as the lyrics go, check out the myspace site for some to read for yourself. the songs come from a personal place, but at the same time hold something for everyone that lives in this age.
Never accept the status quo.........question everything and then you will see.
Anonymity is an album that anyone that loves rock, metal, break beat, techno, etc. should have in their collection!! Stay tuned for the next album soon.......................
a good nu-metal/industrial hybrid.......2005-04-26
I heard about this band on myspace.com. They seemed okay enough (basic nu-metal with a hint of industrial), so I went and bought their only album off here.
That's where my problems start. I'm an avid lover of all styles of metal; black, death, folk, speed, etc. But I always draw the line at bands that worship demons or the devil. I've done reseach on Debris (and listened to the cd completly with headphones), and this is what I've found:
1. Lead vocalist and mastermind Kiel Bishoprick was quoted in an interview stating he uses his pipes and demons to sing.
2. In the thanks section of the cd booklet, the lead singer thanks 'evil for helping me find peace with the beast'
3. Their are no lyrics included, leaving you to guess what is being said (most songs are sung fast and deathmetal style), and the clean vocals are hard to understand at times too. The clean vocals sound like a cross between Backstreet Boys and Geedy Lee from Rush, the hardcore vocals sound similar to that of Ryan Clark from Demon Hunter, and I also sense a little of Jonathan Davis' style of rapping/yelling.
4. The cd is actually 66 tracks long (13-64 are silence), could it be they wanted it to be 666 tracks long? I dunno.
5. I could be mistaken, but I think there's a part of track 65 that's quietly sung backwards, which I've heard is a form of demonic worship. I need to listen again with headphones...
I dunno. Don't take this review the wrong way, I'm just wondering if these guys were satanists. The biggest thing that galls me is the lack of lyrics; I like to know what's being sung/growled/screamed. Good luck finding anything out about them now, their website has been down for weeks, their page on myspace is gone, and amazon is the only site that seems to carry their cd.
To review their actual musical talent, this is not a bad start for what could be the next big thing in nu-metal/industrial hybrids. Good guitars, good bass, not bad vocals (but could be better). Crappy sounding drums however; they don't fit with this style of metal. But that's what second albums are for...
Perfect.......2004-11-16
One of the best metal albums ever period. A perfect metal album, Needs to be part of everyones metal and rock collection.
If you like to hear muscians and not just growls and scream, these guys are it and should be the next big thing in metal. 6 Out 5 stars.

Customer Reviews:
ignore the sound quality.......2004-10-22
I felt like quite the fool yesterday... i was in my local indie record shop looking around, and i thought i was seeing things when i saw a label that said "Trashcan sinatras". these guys were my favorite band throughout high school, and then i thought they fell off the face of the earth. I almost never buy double albums and bsides and such, but i HAD to this time, and i am so glad i did. It is so interesting to hear and even read about how the songs changed once the band got into the studio to record those 3 albums that the songs came from... The sound quality is pretty darn bad for many songs, but any fan can look past that. Just buy this album, and the new one, and the other double, and ANYTHING by this band so that they keep putting out music!
