A great CD for those who appreciate movie themes.......2000-10-06

I enjoyed this CD because Leonard Martin does a good job in selecting the scores of movies that are special in itself, outside from the context of the movie. His selection is diverse, in the sense that it includes scores of not only the big blockbusters of the 90s (Titanic, Saving Private Ryan, Braveheart), but also of the movies that have already been forgotten (Fast, Cheap and Out of Control, and The Rainmaker). There is reasoning behind such a selection, according to Martin: "Some scores wear well over time and provide a rewarding experience long after the movie begins to recede in one's memory."

Martin selects the scores from a variety of film genres (drama, dark comedy, suspense,for example) which translates into a well rounded compilation of musical pieces (classical,spanish-inspired, blues, etc). He also includes liner notes reagrding each selection and composer, which serves as a brief, yet interesting, background regarding each selection.

The only qualm that I have with the CD is the abscence of some of my personal favorites, which are certainly memorable both as films and as scores. Reagarding such statements Martin states that "Lists, of course, are highly arbitrary and designed to provoke argument." Moreover, Martin acknowledges that selections are not the only great scores of the past decade; they are, however, among his favorites. I definitely agree with him on this statement.

Not quite the Irish Tenors.......2002-08-11

I also bought this thinking it was the Irish Tenors and feel [like I was taken]. They are the same songs only the voices are thin and lacking in quality and style. The only thing that I liked about this CD was that the arrangements were simple and in keeping with the music. Otherwise poor quality.

SOMETHING SPECIAL.......2002-07-02

This is it! Atlantic Shore by the Three Irish Tenors is just out of this world - brilliant. Without question one of the best CD's
in my collection. She moved through the fair is stunning. I really can't recommend this one enough. Buy it find our for yourselves.

BREATHTAKING.......2002-07-02

Breathtaking is the only way I can think of of describing The Three Irish Tenors Atalntic Shore CD. I have just received it and have intstantly fallen in love with it. Three golden voices, glorious arrangements. I can't wait for their next CD!

I bought the CD Atlantic Shore by the Three Irish Tenors and have not stopped palying it!! It's just wonderful! I play it all the time in my car, the music is so lovely it takes all the stress out of driving! I have just come to Ireland on Holidays and saw the Three Irish Tenors in The National Concert Hall in Dublin - the most amazing concert I've ever seen - and they donated all the proceeds to the Special Olympics Ireland - I think that these guys are something special themselves. Buy the cd, it will truly raise your spirits!

Totally Awesome.......2002-07-01

As I type this entry now I'm listning to their cd Atalntic Shore, the track The Spanish Lady. I loved their concert I was at the one palyed at the state theatre in Union Town. I was browsing through the site and come across them here. I love the song The Spanish Lady, the tune makes you want to bounce, but yet has a softer side to it. I can't explain it but the song is just so awesome. I think Ciaran's solo is Fantastic. It really is a great CD. Well worth adding to your collection.
