Eclectic Mix of Soothing, Harmonious Music!.......2005-04-26

I saw Wai Lana on a PBS show for kids and Yoga where I got just a tidbit of her beautiful music, but enough to want to hear more. I came here to amazon.com and listened to every music sample on this CD- it hooked me! I was going to review this CD right off the samples, but thought I had better get the CD first in the remote chance that it was just too good to be true and there might be some less than desirable cuts- like so many other albums that are fluffed and salted with ho-hum fillers.

I needn't have worried about hearing the whole album before reviewing it. It is a soothing, beautiful, lofty, fine mix of several music genres, i.e., Oriental, Indian, Western light rock with some light vocals and nature sounds included here and there. Pardon this perhaps cliche' or cheeky comment, but it truly is uplifting, "feel-good" stuff!

As another reviewer intimated, it is not repetitive and linear like many other meditative music albums. Rather, it structurally, yet gently moves around while retaining the connective thread of gentle, flowing, and harmonic sound.

Undecided? Just try the sample cuts available here and then check out all the other 5-star reviews- I concur with them and since I usually only post reviews on what I consider are 5-star offerings, this is worth sharing . Thank you, Wai Lana and Sidha!

ecclectic, relaxing & oriental inspired - meditation music.......2004-10-28

I have owned this cd for about 3 years now, and looking for more items by Wai Lana & Gold Moon productions, the fancy comes upon me to review it...
Whilst encapsulating all the best aspects of oriental and eastern music with none of the boring repetition which can so often predominate the meditation mixes of this kind of album.
Never intrusive, it's great thinking music, like the serene ocean - wonderfully restive & deliciously refreshing.
For me the best tracks are no.9, and no.2. I often sing along to the tracks with vocals (no.9 Spiritual Love).
If you are looking for some sweet relaxing music to chill to, this is for you. Now I'm not saying I play this cd all the time - my musical tastes are too ecclectic for that - but it is the one my son goes to sleep to, and I often have it on repeat overnight. It would have made a great backing track to the movie: Crouching Tiger; Hidden Dragon. It's that sort of feel.

The best thing is: it's the soundtrack to my favorite yoga instructor!

Heartfelt and inspiring.......2003-12-17

When I was young, music was the "soundtrack of my life," and I found a lot of inspiration in my vinyl. Since then, I've found out that shallow lyrics and big egos kind of sour the taste of most commercial music these days and that makes me really choosy in what I listen to. Wai Lana's music is the some of the most genuine, heartfelt, good sounding music around. It's easy to listen to over and over again and inspiring to hear. Listening to it just makes it seem like everything's going to be all right. And knowing what Wai Lana is teaching with her yoga only makes it sweeter.

Another Hit.......2000-12-21

I love this album. It is incredible. After I purchased her other CD, Yoga Sound, I had to get this one. And I was amazed once more. Wai Lana is incredibly talented. And singing is definately one of strong points. The album is beautiful. Although there are not many vocal chants like on the other, you will find this CD to be incredible. Every instrument coerces you into a relaxing world, and every song Wai Lana and Siddha sing, relax you even further into a world of true beauty. Again the guitars and pianos and drums are astounding. Definately a great album. I loved it.

I'm almost deaf from the sort of "music" my son likes to blast. Then one day, I heard something - real music coming from his room. He was playing Wailana's Yoga Music of the Heart. His girlfriend lent it to him. I appreciated it so much, that I had to buy a copy for myself. Now we don't fight over his "music" anymore. We both appreciate Yoga Music of the Heart, and can listen to it over and over again.

For resting and relaxation this just cant be beat. I ALWAYS find myself sleeping deeply after listening to the first in this set of cds. It is like some kind of voodoo magic the way this ALWAYS relaxes me and allows me to sleep deeply.

For all of my life I have been something of an insomniac that can only sleep at the point of utter exhaustion, but with this cd I have finally found that "sleep button" that can make me relax and fall asleep no matter what. I am also the type of insomniac that wakes up after around 4-5 hours of sleep no matter what. I usually wake up in the middle of the night between 2-4am and cant get back to sleep. But even that is no problem these days, I just turn the cd on and I am back in a deep sleep within 20 minutes or so. It works even if I used the cd to get to sleep in the first place, and even if initially I don't feel tired at all.

For the first couple weeks I owned this cd I couldn't even tell you how many tracks were on it. I was normally completely knocked out by the middle of the second track after the Guranga breathing. Her accent is different but her voice is completely soothing and relaxing.

Also, not only am I able to easily relax and fall asleep, my sleep seems more restful with long vivid dreams that I remember when I awake. It is not unusual for me to wake up remembering 3 different dreams over the course of the night when before it was very rare if I even remembered one full dream. I used to vaguely remember dreaming about something, but now I remember multiple long vivid dreams in very accurate detail.

I couldn't recommend this cd more. You will not be disappointed.

Real Rest and Relaxation.......2004-02-12

Hi y'all,

I really enjoyed Wai Lana's Rest and Relax cd. It brought me to a greater relaxation and peace that I never experienced before. In the beginning part we did a deep breathing and vocal exercise called Gauranga meditation as well as a another relaxation exercise named Yoga Nidra. Wai Lana's voice was so soothing, it was just relaxing listening to her as she instructed me through the exercises. The Gauranga vocal vibrations really caused a relaxing inner peace within me that I really missed when I was not doing it in other parts of my daily routine. Sometimes I found myself spontaneously practicing the relaxing Gauranga meditation throughout different times of the day. I am writing in because I am getting a lot of positive vibes from this cd and I have even ordered the other ones related to this one, which I can't wait to get.

Better than drugs.......2003-12-24

I had never tried anything like this before--it was a gift from my personal assistant--but it has helped me deal with the stress of my job better than any thing my doctor has prescribed for me. I always put it on when I get home and jsut let the sound take me away to a better space. Highly recommended!

The best gift I've received in years..........2004-01-09

I received this cd for Christmas, and I absolutely love it. In fact, it has been playing most of the time since I got it! It creates a very soothing and relaxing atmosphere without being monotonous. I have different meditation cd's, but I have never heard spiritual sounds being used in such a creative and diverse way. Each track has a unique style. Wai Lana and Siddha both have very soft and touching voices that are also at times incredibly powerful. I find this cd has a deep, positive effect on my mood and attitude. I just ordered their other cd, Yoga-Music of the Heart, and can't wait to receive it. I hope it's as
great as this one.

Yoga Sound is a God-send!.......2003-12-21

Yoga Sound is the most wonderful surprise I could have ever hoped for. It is so soothing and relaxing - I find I can listen to it all day long and never grow tired of it. As a result, I gave it to several of my friends as a gift and they absolutely love it. One friend is a yoga teacher and another a massage therapist - they told me their students and clients really enjoy it and always comment on how nice it makes them feel. I highly recommend this cd to anyone who is looking to calm their mind from the daily stresses of everyday life.

70's Revisited.......2003-08-12

"Yoga Sound: Wai Lana & Siddha" CD by Gold Moon Productions....

Lately I've been enjoying the benfits of excercising to Yoga.I find it to be mentally refreshing and physcially challenging,with visable results.. More and more I find myself adding Yoga sessions to my workouts, so I thought I'd give this music a try to add a little ambiance to the routines.

Although there were a couple of tracks that had that ambiance I was looking for, I think that for that most part, you would really have to be into the spiritual side of Yoga to appreciate this music. I guess I am not! It did not relax me. In fact, there were times when I was stricken with intense and vivid flashbacks of being at the airport in L.A. in the 70's, being surrounded by people chanting at me, and me not having a dollar for a flower!
This is not meant to be offensive to anyone who enjoys this type of music, it just wasn't what I had in mind for me personally.

The up side is that if you do enjoy this genre, you will find 10 tracks, that are all a good enough length to "get into". They run from 3:36 to 12:29(most being somewhere in between).I also find that it is always enlightening, to at least experience music of all types and cultures.There is a list of the songs, and a few that you can listen to samples of in the buying info here. They are short but may give you some idea of what to expect.

I will be passing my copy on to someone who will appreciate this more than I do.

The Best Music Ever.......2000-11-09

I bought this CD because I watch and practice with the show as well as love the music on the show. I was thoroughly enchanted by the sublime vocals. Siddha's voice ranges from sweet and smooth, to emotional and grand, while Wai Lana's beautiful and enchanting voice sends warmth through your body. These two coupled with incredible guitarists, majestic pianists, and wonderful drummers bring to you a beatiful album. 12 songs of incredible depth. My personal favorite is track 7, Lionheart. Lionheart is the most incredible song on the album. You will find yourself singin along to this song while it's playing, and singing it when it's not. The guitarist outdoes himself on this song with an incredible passionate intro, interlude, and accompaniment, while the pianist shows the true depth to his own skills. If you ever want a CD of relaxing music, this is it. I myself do not believe in the Indian religion, (being a Christian), however I do use this album to relax at any time. It is perfect for any genre of music.

Wow! What a nice, beautiful CD! I was expecting it to be so unworthy to buy because of the reviews i read about this WAI LANA CD....but I bought it anyway...good thing I didn't listen to those who wrote negative reviews about this CD...This CD is actually beautiful...the songs are a combination of different yogic mantras with different instruments...creating a very unique, beautiful sound..that can make your whole body and mind relax...:) So for those who wants to try this CD but taken aback by the negative reviews, please try to understand that every person has his own taste...some may like it, some may not...so feel free to try and listen to it... :)

This is true Hawaiian Music.......2005-05-02

In a time when Jawaiian (Island Reggae) music is mistakenly referred to as Hawaiian music, it is a pleasure to find true Hawaiian music like this. On E Ho`i Na Wai, Cody Pueo Pata delivers a mixture of traditional and contemporary Hawaiian mele. The arrangements on the songs are superb and Pata's unique falsetto voice complements the wonderful background music. It is also a pleasure to hear various chants as well as a dedication to proper pronunciation of Hawaiian words. I recommend this CD to anyone interested in hearing great Hawaiian music.

Be careful.......2007-01-12

This item is advertized as an audio CD, but it is actually in the VCD (Video CD) format. Luckily it plays on my DVD player, but it will not play in my car, or my BOSE wave player, or any other DVD/CD player that is not equipped to play VCD's. Also the sound quality is rather crappy. I have a feeling the sound quality of VCD is not up to CD standards, at least it's not on this disc.
