Very Relaxing.......2006-06-14

This album is an excellent entry point to the vast universe of Indian Classical Music. This is an instrumental album showcasing 2 maestros - Talvin Singh (Tabla) and Rakesh Chaurasia (Indian Flute). If you like any any form of classical or instrumental music, you will love this album - it grows on you. Flute is an amazing musical instrument and you will realize in this album. Jethro Tull lovers ...you hearing me...!

Great meditation music.......2004-01-04

When I purchased this CD I was not sure if it will be one of my all time favourite CDs. I got it because Talvin Singh was in it without sampling it. It grows on you after a few times of playing it. Chaurasia is playing as good as his Hari Prasad and Singh is doing a great job as well.
If you like classical Indian music, this a great one to get. The raags are just marvelous. Get it. (6 stars)

hugely disappointed.......2006-09-21

Having been introduced to the Lisbon sound of Fado with the likes of Madredeus, Mariza, Christina Branco, Ana Moura, Dulce Pontes, Amelia Rodrigues, and a host of other fine singers and discs, I had always been impressed with the arrangements and accompaning guitar ensembles. For this reason I decided to perhaps broaden my exposure to Portuguese music and ordered this disc.

I was hugely disappointed. Not only does one song nearly sound like the next and the next and the next and almost seamlessly flow into each other (you can tell they end by the long pause between each one) but the overall recording quality of this disc is very poor.

I can not recommend this disc to anyone. Hey, that's my opinion, but isn't that what these reviews are about? For my money, I'd stick with known guitar ensembles and quality recordings from the likes of Madredeus.

Marvelous piece of music by one of the most virtuous player.......2001-05-29

This is a great CD, where you get to know some of the standards for Portuguese Guitar, as well as some great compositions by this great player. Pedro Caldeira Cabral is, after Carlos Paredes, the best Portuguese Guitar player of our times. It's a great experience for those music lovers who enjoy virtuous playing. It's a must.

The Musicians come together to really make this music work. Marc Ribot, Zorn, Greg Cohen, hard to go wrong. The music is strong and I keep coming back for more listens... Check it out - you won't be disappointed!
