A new Brazilian star.......2002-08-29

Carol Saboya is the daughter of Antonio Adolfo, a great piano
player and composer. She has a lovely voice and is a great interpreter of a song. Nelson Faria is a wonderful guitar accompanist, and this is quite an album. All the songs are by Jobim, and the choice is off-beat, omitting all the best known. There are some gems here, though I could have done without Chansong and Bonita, two of Jobim's weakest songs - they do show that Ms Saboya sings very well in English as well as Portuguese, however. She has a great future.

I've always had a passion for Brazilian music. Rosa Passos, Djavan, and Maria Rita are a few of my favorites. While at work, I've started listening to Batanga-Radio Brasil. I love this radio station. I sometimes alternate between Smooth Jazz out of San Diego and Batanga. That's where I first heard Janelas by Fred Martins. His voice is smooth, melodic and straight from Brazil. His guitar playing is quite nice as well. Throughout my life time on this earth, I've had the good fortune to visit some very interesting countries. I've never been to Brazil, but I'll eventually visit one day. If you'd like to catch some of this artist music, visit the Batanga website.
