A wonderful album.......2004-04-14

I don't usually buy live recordings because sometimes the sound quality is not good but being a big fan of Vicente and Alejandro Fernandez , I just have to have this and I was very surprised at the excellent sound quality. I love the song selection including some great duets like " Perdon ". Also is a very touching " Cuando yo queria ser grande ", sung by Alejandro and dedicated to his father. I love this CD and listen to it all the time, a wonderful compilation of the greatest hits of Alejandro and Vicente Fernandez. I wish it is available on DVD.

Primero que nada, me encanta la música de Alejandro y Vicente Fernández y, por eso, decidí comprar este disco. Pensé que iba a ser tan bonito como el de Alejandro llamado «Un canto de México», que también fue grabado en vivo, pero, desafortunadamente, no lo es. Sí, las voces son bonitas y la la selección de canciones me gusta. Sin embargo, no me gusta escuchar tanto aplauso, ni mucho menos el cantar del auditorio. Quizás este concierto fuera divertido, pero eso no quiere decir que se transforme en un buen disco.

This exuberant collection of concert recordings is a robust fiesta, with a lot of love shared between these two Mexican icons and their audience, and it is also historical, capturing for perhaps the last time father and son, El Gran Garañon y El Potrillo, who have been on tour together for about two years.
Their powerful voices are marvelous separate or together, as they share equal time singing their solo hits, and join up for 4 duets, from "Amor de los Dos", which was Alejandro's first recording when he was 19, and started him out on a singing career, to the spectacular "Perdon", with a soaring interpretation of this gorgeous melody by these perfectly blended voices. Other memorable highlights are "Cuando Yo Queria Ser Grande", sung movingly by Alejandro to his father, and a long, slightly modernized version of the exquisite "Como Quien Pierde una Estrella", which was a big hit for Alejandro in 1995. Vicente has many shining moments, like "Me Voy a Quitar de en Medio", and he really knows how to work the crowd, who respond to him with wild appreciation.

I personally don't care for the overall sound quality, which suffers sometimes from the same complaint I had seeing them live at the Universal Amphitheater, where the over-amplification was deafening, and caused a lack of clarity; nevertheless, one must make allowances for live recordings, and for fans of Vicente and Alejandro, this set is a must, to join with the audience with a big cheer. The foldout insert has little more than a song list, and total time for disc # 1 is 46'27, and disc # 2, 63'46.

Very Powerful Stuff..........2003-10-28

The first thing anyone will notice about this live concert c.d. is that Alejandro and Vicente sound impressive live just as they do on their studio albums ! With most "live" concert recordings the artist's vocals get lost in the background or mix which is what deters most people from purchasing concert performances on c.d. Most of the times the performance by the artist is hampered by the sound of the crowd and the band or instrumentation ! So, what can account for such an excellent recording (besides the mastering or mixing of the recording)? The sheer fact that Alejandro and Vicente are without a doubt two of Mexico's most powerful male vocalists...Alejandro's voice is unique from his father's in that he posesses that deep baritone and emotive voice. While, Vicente has his own unique style as well...As for the songs on the 2 disc set, they are each incredible, full of life and vitality about the ups and downs of love, life, and anything in between ! This is a 2 disc set that is definitely worth owning and will give your stereo system a thorough workout !

O melhor da MPB.......2004-03-27

Eu ouvi este disco pela primeira vez em 1982, 10 anos após seu lançamento. Devido à forte censura no Brasil estas músicas raramente eram tocadas nas rádios. É um dos discos que melhor traduzem aquilo podemos chamar de MPB, Música Popular Brasileira. Todas as músicas são de altíssimo nível, tanto em letra, quanto em melodia. As dificuldades técnicas da gravação não prejudicam em nada o prazer de ouvi-lo. Ainda hoje, as novas gerações o cultuam. Mas não é para qualquer ouvido, porque as canções bastante sofisticadas. Destaco aqui algumas canções que não fizeram grande sucesso mas que são lindas, como Ana de Amsterdam, Janelas Abertas (um tango à Piazzola), Morena dos Olhos Dágua. As demais, são grandes sucessos da MPB e dispensam comentários.

Buenos Aires; 1976; I was 18 and for the first time on my own in the big city, when I first heard this album at a friend's home (I presume his parents had bought it). We listened to it endlessly and learned all the lyrics. It was my first encounter with Brazilian culture and in the context of the Argentine "dirty war," this joint concert, became an oasis of comradery and peotry. Indeed both, Chico and Caetano, have written some of the most beautiful and profound songs of MPB. The first, the offspring of an academic family, is a master of language and uses his skills to describe the quotidian joys and sorrows of the common man (and woman!) The second, no less talented, digs into the existencial dilemmas of the Brazilian people. With feminist undertones, in "Esse Cara" Caetano writes a first person love song in which a woman declares her love for "That Guy": "Ele é quem quer/ele é o homen/eu sou apenas uma mulher" (He is what he wants/he is the man/I'm just a woman.) For me, it was a delightful shock to listen the voice of a woman sung by a man! A year later he would surprise me again with the gay connotations of "Menino do Rio" and, sometime later, "Leaozinho." I wanted to be like them, live amid all that beauty and freedom and, less than twelve months later, my dream came true.

Chico y Caetano. Caetano y Chico. Dos grandes, dos maestros y dos leyendas de la música de Brasil. ¡Juntos! Ya por ese sólo hecho este CD es una joya. La música es excelente, con grandes momentos como "Voce nao entende nada/Cotidiano" y "Partido Alto". El sonido transmite mucho lo que sucede dentro y fuera del escenario, gracias a imperfecciones, altos y bajos. Bueno: se grabó en Brasil en 1972, hace treinta años. Pero lo que hay que notar es que no todo es color de rosa: hay algunos bajones, hay excelentes momentos y otros no tan bien logrados. Es por eso que no le coloco cinco estrellas. Pudo haber sido aún mejor.

This CD is among the very best ever recorded in Brazil. Chico Buarque is Brazil's finest songwriter, and Caetano is not far behind. Together, they are incredible on this live recording. This is a true classic -- one that has stood the test of time.

This fabulous double CD captures a magical reunion of Juan Gabriel and Rocio Durcal, a performance from June 24, 1999 at Teatro Degalado de Guadalajara Jalisco. And the ONLY thing BETTER is to see the performance available on VHS. It, too, is just too wonderful!

It's no wonder these two have done so well, and to reunite combining their voices again, for an historic night to remember is magical! Superstar, songwriter Juan Gabriel performs with the beautiful velvety voice of Rocio Durcal. No one can ever sound like Juan Gabriel; it must be that nasal throaty sound that only he projects. His partner again, Rocio Durcal also has an enjoyed a career in movies and in 1977 she recorded 10 compositions written by Juan Gabriel, as he was her influence. So beautiful is their duet hit "El Destino" (The Destiny.) It is a soothing love ballad brilliantly composed by Gabriel.

Enjoy the musical exuberance of "Mariachi Vargas" and "Mariachi de Mi Tierra". I have a taste for a variety of musical styles, but nothing can beat the sounds of mariachi! Listen to mariachi magic in "El Principio" and "Verdadero Amor." Various slower songs are enhanced with that orchestral ambiance to bring dimension to the music. Hear the calming instrumental "El Final". The duets "Juntos" and "Que Bonito Es Santa Fe" are both lively and danceable favorites.

Gabriel and Durcal exude this emotional chemistry when they duet on a love song "Dos Favores". This double CD offers a variety of their solos and duets! But, what is better is the VHS performance, go one step beyond and see the magic. I can't ever get tired of either. .....MzRizz

A couple years ago I saw a phenomenal "Que Bonito es Santa Fe" music video with Juan Gabriel and Rocio Durcal (had never heard of her before seeing the video) and went in search of the song. I nearly didn't buy this CD set because it lists only Gabriel as the singer on "Que Bonito . . ." and I thought it wouldn't be the same as what I had seen. It surely sounds like the Gabriel/Durcal duet of the video, wild and wonderful. The whole double set is good, actually. The first disc has Gabriel and duets; the second Durcal and duets. The king and queen of Mexican music, together again. There's also a complete video out that includes most of the songs from the CD. It too is excellent.

Take A Bow!.......2001-01-25

Juan Gabriel and Rocio Durcal have done it again. I started listening to Juan Gabriel since 1986, and when my mother bought the previous 2 tapes (Frente A Frente Vol 1 & 2) I thought I had herd some of the most beautiful songs ever song by a duet. But with this CD, they have surpassed the old ones (don't get me wrong, the old ones are also great but this is is better). If you like Juan Gabriel and Rocio Durcal, don't think twice about getting this CD. Just do it!

Always so personal, as she might be singing for your heart only,with a particular and always excellent interpretation...Amaya Uranga caught my heart and soul with her voice.
Anybody who likes music , and is charmed by a voice,so cristal, so full of feelings,will enjoy those two albums of one of ever great voices from Euskadi.

In writings about Elis Regina she said Lins was one of her favorite composers. Now I can see why.I found that as soon I listened to the first track I knew I had a good find. I can't say that about many. Hopefully, I'll be as fortunate in my pursuit of some good music.

This music is so far ahead of anything in the world that is related to rock and jazz. This is one CD, after 12 years, that I do not tire of. I keep on hearing new things. The music is fabulous. It may take a couple of listenings to grasp it but once you get the hang of it, you will play it again and again. It is full of passion, beauty and emotion. Unfortunately, it will raise your standards and make most other related music sound dull.

Sin duda alguna este es uno de los mejores discos de los ultimos tiempos. "Juntos" presenta a dos super talentosos artistas. De Puerto Rico, la talentosisima merenguera Gisselle y de Republica Dominicana uno de los mejores interpretes de merengue de los ultimos tiempos, el gran Sergio Vargas. La idea de este CD es unica y bien refrescante. Gisselle interpreta exitos de Sergio Vargas tales como "La Pastilla" y "Lo Quiero A Morir". Por otra parte Sergio interpreta algunos de los exitos de Gisselle como "A Que Vuelve", "Siempre Que Pasa El Amor" y "No Es Mejor Que Yo". Para hacer este disco mushisimo mejor Gisselle y Sergio cantan a duo un total de seis temas, entre ellos "Contaminame", "Nu Tu, Ni Yo", "Corazon Encadenado" y "Apaga La Luz". Este disco fue producido y grabado en los estudios Midilab del maestro Manuel Tejada, que ademas de trabajar con Gisselle y Sergio ha trabajado con artistas de la talla de Juan Luis Guerra, Milly Quezada, Jessica Cristina y Olga Tañon, entre muchos otros. Finalmente! Al fin una compilación de los Hombres G que contiene la canción "Indiana." Esta compilación es excelente y se la recomiendo a todos aquellos fans que durante los 80s disfutaron de la música de estos muchachos. Vale la pena comprar este cd, que no viene solo, sino que además viene con un DVD que es fabuloso! (La opinión de colombianos(as) que no tuvieron infancia, ni los dejaban escuchar rock en español, no refleja la de los otros 39'999.999 de colombianos que sí gustaron de la música de los Hombres G.)

Este CD es un "must have" para todos aquellos que fueron fans de los Hombres G durante los 80 y que los siguieron escuchando aun cuando el grupo se separó. Igual que el resto de los que opinan sobre el CD, la colombiana esta totalmente loca. Hombres G, junto a otras bandas españolas y suramericanas (por cierto no se me ocurre ninguna colombiana, salvo los Aterciopelados), constituye uno de las mejores representaciones del rock en español. Tan es así, que a principios de los 90 siguió sonando durísimo en las fiestas que se hacían en mi país y que generaciones que nunca los vieron juntos escuchan sus canciones y tienen sus CDs.

Despues de tantos años de espera recibimos este Cd que creo es una gran compilacion de la trayectoria de este grupo español, ademas de las nuevas canciones que son muy buenas. Difiero con la colombiana creo que Hombres G cambiaron el rock en español,muchas cosas mejoraron despues de ellos y si bien algunas de sus canciones eran sencillas y jocosas en la etapa inicial,los arreglos musicales eran geniales y siguen vigentes, un gran regalo para los fans,y un gran punto de descubrimiento para nuevas generaciones.
