I am not a jazz afficionato but the songs in this album are beautiifully arranged and they just light up my day when I play them. My favorite is "How Insensitive". The touch of the piano is light, the counterpoint just makes me beam. Just wonderful!

latin moods from Brazilian roots...excilerating!.......2001-08-27

The entire album is a "latin jazz" must have...but there are two stand outs ~ "CORCOVADO", featuring Charlie Byrd and Ken Peplowski, this alone is worth the price of admission, two classic musicians with a never-to-be-forgotten duet...the other is ~ MANHA DE CARNAVAL (SUNRISE), over four minutes of pure esctasy from sultry style of Susannah McCorkle, what a great loss of this memorable interpreter of lyrics, who passed away this year in May, she will be sorely missed...she had the free-spirit of Ella!

Hats off to producers John Burk & Chris Dunn, mastered by George Horn and Concord Jazz, mixing the essential ingredient into every release, quality first and foremost...can always count on them to come up with great and unforgettable moods in jazz...a note to Concord, we need more of the same!

Excellent compilation.......2000-04-05

Just about every song on this CD is just wonderful and masterfully done. The quality of the recording, the instruments and the musicians is superior. It is very sultry without being languid or sluggish. Great rhythms are married to intriguing melodies to move you subtly and keep you from getting bored. Perfect music for a jazzy cocktail party, or a steamy night home with someone special. Highly recommended!

Great collection of classic jazz!.......2005-03-13

In this age of "If it's not young and new, it's not worth the listen," here is a collection of jazz music you don't get to hear on the "Top FM" or "Cool Jazz" radio stations! I have been collecting the Jazz Moods CDs for the past 10 years, since I picked up a couple to throw into a wedding gift for a friend and added a few for myself. Each one has a variety of lesser-known and well-known artists performing beloved jazz favorites as well as unique, never-heard-before compositions. Each covers a different mood, place or time of day. However, I find that any and all are perfect wherever and whenever.
My husband and I have not been disappointed in a single one of them. You may not hear "Dianna" or "Nora," on these CD's, but you *will* hear classic jazz musicians and divas you wish you had heard long ago. Yet, there is an excellent mix of vocal and instrumental tracks to keep the tone just right. In this music collection, the SONGS rule, not the singers! My favorites (so far!) are "Jazz by the Fire," "Dinner by Candlelight," and "Feeling Sentimental."

I picked up this CD on a lark (It was cheap!) and I love it. There's no better soundtrack that I've found for weekend projects where you need motivation, but not to have your nerves jangled. It's also great for dinner / card parties as a fun accompaniment!

Excellent compositions and themes.......2001-12-14

The original music contained in this CD by Richard A. DelPizzo must be heard!!! I have been listening to the music in this CD for almost three months now and I am very deeply moved by the music. The compositions are soul-touching and appears to come from deep down the heart of the composer. All the compositions are brilliant and deserve a wide hearing. The composer's intricate knowledge of the classical and jazz guitaring styles are very much evident from the the pieces. The songs in the CD have been composed with deep meanings and have been very well rendered. I would recommend this CD for all lovers of music and this would certainly be a moving experience. To sum up - the CD is not just music but an experience. An experience that deserves a wide hearing. My best wishes for the talented composer and my only hope is that we receive more of his music.

Super Musik - zugleich spannend und entspannend.......2001-06-29

Dem Komponisten kann ich nur gratulieren: es ist ihm gelungen, einen eigenständigen Stil zu präsentieren, der gefällt. Diese Musik verlässt die ausgetrampelten Pfade der Gitarrenmusik und garantiert ein spannendes Musikerlebnis. Gleichzeitig sind die Musikstücke harmonisch und wirken auf mich entspannend. Kurzum, eine CD, die ich nicht mehr missen möchte.

Delightful Pieces for the Nylon String Guitar.......2001-06-18

This is a superb collection of refreshingly original pieces for the nylon string guitar. The composer has skillfully combined the best elements of classical, jazz and Brazilian music into a beautiful new idiom of his own. There is a lot of technically difficult material in this CD, but it is clear that the composer sees it only as a means to the end of composing good music, and not as an end in itself.

The composer has played the pieces himself, and deserves many bravos for his effortless and sensual playing. He evidently has formidable technique but wears it lightly.

It is a wonderful debut for Richard A. Delpizzo and I hope we see many more CD's from him.

This is an excellent CD! If you like Brazilian guitar music, or other jazz/classical guitar, you should check out this CD -- the first available from Richard Del Pizzo. Very nice to listen to, with beautiful chords, fingerings and all original compositions in varied styles.
