Product Description
The Cult Band Fellini Has Just Recorded Its Fifth CD for the Joy of a Legion of Loyal Fans. For 12 Years Thomas and Cadão Didnt Record their Unique Style, the Way in which They Mix Soft Samba with Rock, Vocals Full of Personality and a Much Imitated but Never Quite Equaled Poetry.
The experimental edge they had has been toned down. The 80's beat and production are gone; and so is the slightly hard (and dated) drum machine. This is a new Fellini! Yet, it is still the understated and highly personal band that I fell in love with 20 years ago. The beautiful, hypnotic, laid-back, and intriguing melodies are still there as well. And so are the beautiful lyrics (all in Portuguese). The Indi-Rock tracks 'Retrato' and 'Greve' have the kind of melancholic melody that will haunt you for days. Some tracks like 'Ventre Livre' and the gorgeous Samba 'Gravado no Rio' have more of a groove to them.
Fellini still shows the duality of their members' cultures. 'Amanha E Tarde' has one foot in Brazil (the beautiful and intricate vocal arrangements and the Samba/Bossa Nova rhythms) and the other in England (Production and acoustic Indi-Rock feel). The array of instruments helps the band show the dreamy connection between the two cultures: pianos, berimbaus, strings, acoustic and electric guitars.
After listening to 'Amanha E Tarde' I realized how much I had missed Fellini. I am extremely happy that they've recorded this CD.
