Average album presented from Snoop - 3.5 stars.......2007-05-08

Snoop is back with another one of his Presents albums (his last 2 I wasn't impressed with either "Doggystyle All-Stars (3 stars) and Bones Soundtrack (barely 3 stars). I expected more looking at the line up. Kurupt (who all know is great), War Zone (MC Eiht (a west coast legend) - Kam (another good west coast vet), and Goldie Loc (average at best), Westurn Union (Soopfly (who is tight), Damani (Pretty good the few songs I heard him on) and Bad Lucc (who also is decent). So the line-up is good but something went a little off on the album. With 17 songs (if you got the bonus edition) only 5 are good, 2 I skip and the other 10 are average. Production is mostly handled by Snoop (an average job as well - the best beat he did is the intro and no one raps on it). He got help on a few swongs from Terrace Martin and Uncle Chuck and Soopfly and David Banner each did 1 song. I'd probably pass this one by.

Wow, is all I got to say about this CD. It is awesome especially the Special Edition with 3 bonus tracks. So much West Coast Gangster Rap on one cd. How did they do it. Awesome.

Big Squeeze is Big Fun.......2005-09-02

If you've never heard zydeco music you're in for a treat. I defy anyone from keeping still as they listen to this music. If it's fast you want to dance and if it's slow you want to sway. And Chenier has the most beautiful voice. All of his albums are good.

The first time I watched them perform, I wasn't sure what to expect. But as soon as the music started, the crowd danced and never stopped. And it was great to see just how much these talented guys were into their music. The songs were incredible and I still smile when I think about that night. If you like zydeco, you'll love this music, even if you haven't caught them in concert.

Great for anyone unfamiliar with the Crown Prince of Zydeco. Not a personal favorite, but at a CJ show last year they sold two boxes of this CD in ten minutes. It's hard to keep your feet still when listening to good zydeco music, and this definitely lets the Bontemps Roulez.

I would highly recommend this compilation to any Squeeze fan or for anyone who'd like to get an excellent overview of their body of work. The B-sides disk is especially interesting and contains some real gems. Great stuf!!!

great ! except..........2004-08-02

I thought this compilation of Squeeze singles, etc... was great, especially the sound of it... except the only reason I gave it a 4 stars is that its missing some songs I thought should've been on there (and I know, probably every fan out there would suggest a song or two that wasn't on the cd's to have either been on there or tooken off)example: where's the singles from their later works ,the "Play" album? Satisfied,etc. would've been nice , too. anyhow, its still a pretty decent compilation :)

A definite collection of Squeeze's A and B sides.......2004-07-18

Various compilations already exist of Squeeze material. This one is, however, in my opinion by far the most complete set. The first disk includes typical A side material, i.e., all the greatest hits plus some of their lesser known single releases that are admittedly below their earlier standards.

The second disk was to me a pleasant surprise. Although I knew many of the tracks and a vivid fan during Squeeze's height, I had no idea how many treasures were to be found among their B sides. Maidstone, Who's That and Spanish Guitar are only a few of many worth mentioning. The production of these songs is also often sparser then their A side material, which brings better out the warmth and splendor of the Difford/Tilbrook melodies and text.

The liner notes include fun comments written by Difford and Tilbrook regarding their recollections of each song on the CD. The sound quality is also superb, rectifying a flaw of some of their previous CD releases. I highly recommend this set for casual and die-hard Squeeze fans.

A RARE GEM FROM SQUEEZE.......2004-06-27

I must admit that I absolutely love the 2nd B-sides CD much better than the 1st CD in this set. I can't understand why anyone would think that "What the Butler Saw", "Maidstone", "Introvert", or "Periscope" would classify as B-songs. These songs are EXCELLENT. When I first listened to this Cd, I thought I died and went to Squeeze Heaven. I have been a huge Squeeze fan since I was 14. I cherish all my Squeeze CD's, and I was more than happy when I bought this CD to add to my collection. I recently bought "Six of One" and I consider it my most prized possession. I guess I don't care that Squeeze broke up because Glenn Tilbrook is writing and performing some really terrific music, But true greatness does not last forever and I am just so thrilled that all this wonderful music is still being released in these remastered compilations. To the faithful fans I say grab them now because they wont last!!!!

Getting Squeezed again.......2003-07-11

Another reissue with perks to make the fan pay for something they already have. Granted the second disc of tunes has some nice rarities on it but, well, why not just go all out and put out that second box set promised eons ago prior to the eviseration of A&M records?

There's no arguing with the quality of the singles included here. Every single one of them is solid. The notes are also quite good. The issue seems to be ripping off fans. Listen,
just issue a rarities CD and be done with it. Fans will still buy it and we can dispense with the other CD of previously released material. Actually, that's much too sensible.

The sound quality is very good.

Enter the sweet, sharp, rockin' world of Miss Mildred Bailey.......2001-04-18

If you want a fantastic collection of Mildred's 1930's (and some very early '40's)hits, snatch this cd up. For a lovely sampling of her later, heart-torn balladeering, buy "Me and the Blues".

Note: Listen to samples of Mildred Bailey before you buy. Her light, sweet voice is not for everyone, but I guarantee, if you give it a try, her sense of rhythm, wisdom of phrasing, humor and sheer musical talent will grow and grow on you. Mildred was the first female band singer and her backup bands are composed of the best of the early jazz greats. Enjoy!
