This cd like all te other one done by the band are compose and thought about how there music will attract Salsa lovers but also how the music will improve the quality of there play for the public. I rate all there music has an exellent compilation of salsa..........You like the best this is one band to have in your collections.

Estaba bueno, pero se quemo rapido.......2007-04-14

Tiene buenas canciones, que cuando salieron me impresionaron. Pero como que me aburri del album muy rapidamente. Voy a admitir, a mi me gustan las salsas mas agresivas, modernas, rapidas, y/o experimentales. Por ejemplo los grupos:
Fruko y sus Tesos, Jimmy Bosch, y Africando.

Y por eso mientras EGC saco unos cuantos temas como "Mi Gorda Bonita" en este disco que estan a mis gustos, cuando empiezan a ponerce mas romantico me pierden.

Por lo tanto se lo recomiendo a los que les guste la salsa a medio tempo, con una mezcla de humor y romance.

I've been a fan of and listener to El Gran Combo for nearly forty
years. Their sound is uniquely distinct and always enjoyable,
but I find this recording to be one of their superior efforts-
it smokes,start to finish! One would guess that such a recognizable sound would by now be irrelevant;if anything this recording revalidates the excellence,care,feeling,and
professionalism that has always been characteristic of this fine

Hey! If you are going to buy a merengue cd, you might as well get one that doesn't lack energy. Beleive me, Grupo Mania doesn't lack any energy, they are one of the tightest and hottest merengue bands around and this cd is pure Merengue dura from beginning to end, 100% picante gaurenteed!!!

Este nuevo disco de Grupo Mania esta excelente. Tiene unos merengues super pegajosos, con los ritmos que caracterizan a Grupo Mania. Tambien tienen unas canciones al ritmo del sabroso reggaeton. El Cd esta bieeeeen bueno, y se los recomiendo a todos. Si te gusta el merengue, el reggaeton, o simplemente la musica latina buena, este disco es para ti.

In the wake of the multiplatinum-selling Buena Vista Social Club, Cuban music has become hot. This album might borrow the BVSC concept of gathering musicians of different generations together, but--while the names aren't as widely known (with the exception of Buena Vista alumnus Juan de Marcos Gonzalez)--the music glistens just as brightly, covering a similar territory of son and bolero and offering an extraordinary pianist in Guillermo "Rubalcaba" Gonzales. His two contributions, "Oguere" and "Rubalcaba," show him to be as talented as Rubén González. Still, there are no slouches here; all four singers are superb. Young Luis Frank shines on "Longina," a duet with Juan de Marcos, sparingly accompanied by tres. The title track, Frank's homage to the Havana barrio, is a tour de force, picking up the torch of Cuban traditionalists Sierra Maestra and running with it. An old master at work.......2002-08-20

Although the fire and fury of his early years is clearly long behind him, these new recordings find Leyva with sympathetic accompaniment courtesy of some of Cuba's talented young'uns. You can hear Leyva creaking and groaning around the edges, but this is still masterful, pleasant "son" music, with a softer edge than what normally makes its way off the island.

This is one of my favorite Cuban albums, I even like it better than Ruban Gonzolas' Chachullo because the piano is more prominant. The albulm is listed under Gonzalo Rubalcaba but the pianist on this album is his father Guillermo Rubalcaba. The elder Rubalcaba is considered with Ruban Gonzolas to be one of the two top Cuban son pianists. It's interesting to compare Guillermo's version of El Mansiero with Gonzalo's trio recording. Even though I consider Gonzalo to be the the greatest jazz pianist alive I still like Guillermo's solo version better.

I recenlty bought this CD by Soneros de Verdad and can only recommend it to lovers of Cuban music. It has songs in all the traditional genres of Cuban music - son, bolreo, afro, guajira ... all in superb quality of musicianship.

Additionally it has nice thick booklet with details on musicians, photos, and all the lyrics. Plus it's both in Spanish and English - very valuable for someone like me who's learning Spanish!
