Editorial Reviews
DreamSinger is the ethereal voice of singer/songwriter and activist, Demian Elaine' Yumei, supported by the musical artistry of Stacey Young.
Demian has been a soloist since 12, but didn't write her first song until she was in her 30's, "Future Song", which was the culmination of an intense two year journey of healing from childhood abuse, and a life-time journey of trying to find her voice silenced from that abuse. This song set the tone and created a vision of purpose for all her subsequent songs.
Stacey Young is a multi-instrumentalist and composer and has been writing songs and performing in various bands since his early teen years. Stacey records and produces in his digital and analog recording studio, Axis Studios, in Wrightsville PA, with over 25 years experience.
DreamSinger has performed at various events for issues that range from victim's rights and concern for the environment to writing and performing a musical monologue on behalf of the female Chinese detainees of the "Golden Venture", as well as, performances of "Keeping the Dream Alive", in front of the Chinese embassy in Washington, D.C. to honor the students of Tiananmen Square.
Demian has been interviewed by Radio Free Asia and written up in various Asian publications.
DreamSinger is committed to using their music to uplift the human spirit and to support others on their own healing journeys.

Centered on personal and global healing with a Celtic feel to some music and Asian flavor to others, the songs range from a single ethereal voice and exquisite piano to full harmonies and orchestration, driving rhythms and percussive expression. My favorite album. English church music at its finest........2005-10-06
The grand tradition of English music.......2005-09-23
--Music--
This is all unaccompanied music, sung in a cathedral chapel acoustically suited for such music. The first disc has four primary sections: Music of the Latin Rite; Music of the Reformation; Music of the Restoration; and Anglican Revival and the twentieth century. The most famous composers in English music history -- Tallis, Byrd, Gibbons -- combine with later masters such as Purcell, Stanford, Howells, Walton, Britten and Vaughan Williams to form a truly masterful collection. These are anthems, hymns and other liturgical pieces that have remained important in Anglican worship, and can be often heard in situ on Sundays around the world. However, the Cambridge Singers bring their special music talent to the task, producing a good standard bearer for music of the English Church.
On the second disc, there are six Latin motets, set by composers such as Taverner, Howells, Stanford, Vaughan Williams, Philips and Dering. Anthens and Introits include notables Tomkins and Purcell, and lesser-known composers such as Amner, Bairstow and Goss. Hymns span the range from old to modern, including a hymn by John Rutter himself. The disc ends with three prayer settings, including one by the underappreciated John Sheppard, and another from William Harris, whose hymn serves as the title to the companion disc. These anthems and hymns show a powerful range of music, yet show a consistent tone also that makes it rather distinctive of the music of the English church.
The group's power and grace is second to none, particularly when singing this kind of music in a place such as Ely Cathedral, arguably the most natural of settings possible.
--Liner Notes--
The notes for this recording include the titles and words of each anthem or hymn. The notes for each piece also includes brief biographical information of the composer, and unique information about each work, when particular composers are represented more than once. One thing conspicuously missing is much biographical information about John Rutter, or any descriptive information about the Cambridge Singers apart from the most basic of information.
--John Rutter--
Rutter was born in London and educated at Clare College, Cambridge. This was where his career as a composer, arranger and conductor began. His early work was with groups at King's College Chapel at Cambridge as well as the Bath Choir and Philharmonic Orchestra. He has worked for the BBC providing music for educational series such as 'The Archaeology of the Bible Lands', until in 1979 he began forming the Cambridge Singers, and has continued a remarkable career of performance and recording as their director ever since.
--The Cambridge Singers--
The Cambridge Singers are a mixed choir of voices, many of whom were members of choir of Rutter's college, Clare College, Cambridge. While they specialise in English and Latin liturgical pieces, they have a wide range of recordings that span from modern compositions (including a remarkable requiem by Rutter) to English folk songs of the Middle Ages. Many are former members of the choir of Clare College and other Cambridge collegiate choirs (hence the name, Cambridge Singers). In the quarter-century since the founding, the Cambridge Singers have produced an impressive body of recordings.

There's no choir better than the Cambridge Singers for thoughtful, imaginative, cohesive programming, and for an ability to excel in performing music of various styles and periods. Here is a splendid example of this group's mastery of repertoire and choral technique, featuring some of the finest choral music ever written, from Tallis, Byrd, and Gibbons to Stanford, Howells, and Britten. --David VernierCustomer Reviews:

Album Description
Full title - For The Sake Of Love/Don't Let Go. To one whole generation of music lovers, Isaac Hayes is the composer of 'Theme from Shaft' (the archetypal 'blaxploitation' film score), the Black Moses of Cool, the Hot Buttered Soul Man and, quite simply, a musical genius. To another generation (30 years removed) he's the voice of Chef, king of the school cafeteria, from animated television show South Park. Following his adventurous early 1970s commercial peak, Hayes made a comeback at the end of the decade with For the Sake of Love & Don't Let Go. Featuring two US R&B Top 40 hits 'Zeke the Freak' & 'Don't Let Go', the albums featured an impeccably produced blend of soul, disco & funk. One minute hitting hard with thumping dance beats (the two hits), the next captivating with prime, slow burning Ike fare ('Few More Kisses to Go', the heartfelt 'Don't Let Me Be Lonely'), the music displaysAlbum Details

Based on Somerset Maugham's middling novel Theater, Annette Bening stars as the title character, an aging star of the London stage whose life and the melodramas she performs have come to mirror each other. Composer Mychael Danna sets those conflicts to a score that emphasizes theatrical surfaces and rigid role-playing, utilizing a finely honed classical pastiche approach with parallels to his previous period-evoking work on Vanity Fair. His cues here are rooted in the light romantic chamber music of the 19th century, though they frequently bristle with a more contemporary energy and aplomb. Offering counterpoint to Danna's dignified, oft-precious classical confections and mining the story's more sensual human dimensions are pop chestnuts from the era (The Andrews Sisters' saucy "Bei Mir Bist Du Schon" and Mills Brothers' jaunty "Life Is Just a Bowl of Cherries"), as well as fine contemporary takes of "They Didn't Believe Me" and Noel Coward's "Mad About the Boy" by Denzel Sinclair and Alison Jicar's elegant read of "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes." --Jerry McCulleyCustomer Reviews:

Customer Reviews:
Buy it for Rysanek.......2000-11-19
The great Austrian soprano was not a natural fit for Medea. She has problems with the coloratura, simplifying some of Cherubini's more awkward phrases. Her intonation is chancy, too, and this is the only recording of her's I've ever heard in which she sounds tired at the end. (Not surprisingly, since this is one of the most strenuous roles in all of opera.) Yet I know of no more moving rendition of the final scene than Rysanek's. Here Medea is less a crazed beast than a deeply hurt, wronged woman, and she emerges as a much more sympathetic figure than Callas's Medea ever did. For all of Callas's skill, I find her Medea unlikeable, even a bit of a caricature: hysterical, monstrous, harpie-like. I'm not surprised in the least when she kills her children to avenge Jason. Rysanek's Medea, in contrast, is a needy, deeply emotional, very feminine figure who sounds rather like Sieglinde gone wrong. She is driven to her horrible deeds by profound psychological pain, which Rysanek conveys magnificently. "Numi, venite a me" is heartbreaking in its sadness. One senses that this Medea has not convinced herself that her actions are right, but performs them out of fear and hurt. Her final phrase is as much a self-indictment as an accusation of Jason--it must have been chilling to experience live. As always with this singer, she doesn't just act the role well, she *lives* it.
The rest of the cast is unspectacular: Prevedi sounds even more bored than he did for the Decca studio recording of 1967; Ghiuselev and Lilowa are nothing special; and the usually divine Lucia Popp isn't quite at her best here. As per Staatsoper tradition, Stein makes lots of cuts in order to get everyone home by 11:00. For $5, anyone who appreciates this opera should hear what Rysanek made of the title role. It's another example of her rare gift, and perhaps all the more impressive for being in a repertoire that she did not sing all the time.
