Get This Album !.......2006-07-28

I didn't even know who Bob Malone was until the night I saw him by accident a couple of years ago. I went to see the woman who opened for him. I forgot her name shortly after Bob took the stage, because I was in awe for two hours. I bought this album after the show because I wanted to hear what I heard live. This set pretty much nails it. Great stuff. Bravo!

Completely different versions than the studio songs - could have been better.......2005-12-25

Masini understands how to inject passion in melody, harmony, songwriting and arranging like very few ever will. For most of the songs, the chords he harmonizes his melodies with are different on the live version from the ones used on the studio version. Both versions are great , I prefer the studio ones though. His singing is not as amazing as on the studio CDs, a little too loose for my taste...not as much power in his vocal chords to push at the end of the lines as it could be. He is just connecting with the crowd I guess (I wish I could watch the DVD of this) and it's nice to hear how much the crowd loves him, but do we need to settle for a lesser expressive voice for that? I prefer the second CD out of the two, better songs.
If you are a fan of Masini, you will love this LIVE album...but I wish the production, the mix was better on this. I wish Marco was singing better too. Mario Manzani is a very talented versatile guitar player and would deserve more room to express himself. If anybody reading this knows about CDs where he gets a chance to shine, please write a review underneath this one and let me know which CDs to listen to for that. Thank you!!! On this CD as usual with Masini, every time Mario gets a chance he is brilliant.
In conclusion the studio CDs are close to perfection. Nobody could match them. They tried something different live... it could have been amazing or really good. It turns out it's ok.
Still listening to Marco Masini is very inspiring to me and fills me with deep joy. Listen to "La Liberta", close your eyes and imagine you were in the room when he was writing this gem...talk about incredible moments of pure bliss! God bless musicians that make melodic content come first, music is a heart thing!
