With the release of this album in 1978, Anna Oxa became one of Italy's first punk artists. And a poweful musical statement it was, with its mix of powerful rock songs and melodic ballads. The music certainly made a lasting impression on me.

The most outstanding tracks are Fatelo Con Me (Do It With Me), a potent hard rock ballad, the soaring punk number Un Cielo A Meta which was her version of Wreckless Eric's charming Whole Wide World, and Un' Emozione Da Poco (A Recent Emotion), a tuneful power ballad with a impressive arrangement.

Other memorable songs include the lilting pop of Sara Non Piange Mai (Sara's Not Crying Anymore), the uptempo Un Click d'Ironia, Pelle Di Serpente (Serpent Skin) with its edgy rhythms and intricate guitar work and the ballad Se Devo Andare Via (If I Have To Go Away). Oxanna displays an admirable variety of rock and pop styles.

Renato Zero and Anna Oxa were the only Italian rock musicians I ever investigated in the 1970s and they both carried on to have long and successful careers throughout the next decade and beyond. This album Oxanna with its great mix of rock, pop and beautiful ballads has stood the test of time very well.
