5 out of 5 stars EBN are one of my favorites.......2000-03-21

I first got introduced to EBN at a lecture I went to at York University on music videos and freedom. I had never heard of them before but after they showed the video for "Get Down", I was hooked. They are one of my absolute faves and I wish they would release more as soon as possible.

5 out of 5 stars in a world of its own.......1999-09-30

OK, if you like jack dangers, bill laswell, brian eno, and can tolerate melle mel on one track, you've got to have this in your collection. I think I've listened to this disc more than MBM's Subliminal Sandwich (if that says anything). It also contains a nice multimedia thrill (dated, but what the hell?). And for you mac users, there's a nice little hard disc, too, so you're not left out in the cold.If you like the cut-up, multimedia scene, I also recommend the film Sonic Outlaws (from the creator of Tribulation 99), which is a mostly-Negativland documentary. But EBN and the Tape Beatles are also featured in a rather nice way. Buy this disc AND Sonic Outlaws and you won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Truly Inspired Satire.......1999-06-18

These guys work in the same style as bands like Negativland, taking samples from radio and TV news, commercials, and movies, and seamlessly mixing them into tracks that you can really get down and dance to. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

If you like this CD, definitely check out their VHS tape, "Commercial Entertainment Product", which you can find on amazon.com if you search for "Commercial Entertainment" (the "Product" is chopped, so if you search for the full name you won't find it!).

5 out of 5 stars True Late night sounds.......2007-04-19

I first heard "Last summer in Rio" on jazz station one hot summer night where I couldn't sleep. I was driving along the FDR Drive in NYC at 3am, and will never forget the feeling of open windows, the East River gleaming, and the mystery of NY at night. The song provided the perfect soundtrack to this setting- one of soothing, mystery, passion, lust, and magic. The track is over 10 minutes, but you wish it would stop only when the sun rises. Needless to say, I love this album.

5 out of 5 stars The most sensuous instumental this side of "Bolero".......2003-02-20

No lie: I first heard Azymuth's "Last Summer in Rio" in the early 80's and taped it off the radio. The tape lasted a number of years, then in the summer of 2000, I bought the CD. An old girlfriend borrowed it and would not give it back. Six months later, on our first evening date, I noticed that my new ladyfriend had "Telecommunications" in her CD rack. This was a sign from God, as she had earlier told me that John Coltran's album with Johnny Hartman was one of her favorites. But, her taste in music was not the only reason I married her . . . .

5 out of 5 stars the best rhythm section in the world !!!.......2002-12-09

The combination of Alex Malheiros (bass)& Ivan Conti (drums)is just magic! This is a nice blend of Bossa Nova & Jazz and yes the formula works. "Estreito de Taruma" is as funky as a song can get while "Last summer in Rio" is your one way ticket to Copacabana beach. JR Bertrami changes lovely from piano to organ (another miscellaneous instrument). Buy this one, these guys deserve all the support they can get. And if you got the chance to see them live, do it! They are twice as good as on record.....believe me, what an experience that was!

5 out of 5 stars A Jazz Fusion Classic!!.......2002-11-28

This album should be in everyone's collection who loves jazz fusion. "Telecommunication" set the standard and raised the bar in terms of quality and excellence. The tracks "May I have this dance?" and the haunting "House I lived in" gives the CD life. But their popular jazz anthem, "Last Summer in Rio" is what puts this CD over the top. A great CD through and through!!

5 out of 5 stars supercool superjazz.......2002-09-04

azymuth telecommunications is one of the best jazz albums in history. If you simply listen to the sample of the May I Have This Dance? (Conçede-Me Esta Dança?) you'll know what I mean.If you love electric jazz you must have it!

5 out of 5 stars ~~ Superb Classic Azymuth ~~.......2006-04-01

This Album is a super classic one from one of the best exponents of Brazilian Jazz of all times.
    There are (IMO) two best-Albums in the history of Azymuth;
From the Back-then Azymuth is without a doubt this Telecommunication CD, and
From the Now Azymuth is Pieces of Ipanema.
(Actually, if you see both covers, they show shots from Ipanema beach from left to right)

Telecommunication offered us two big radio hits in the 80's:
    - Nada Sera Como Antes by Milton Nascimento
    and
    - Last Summer in Rio by Jose Roberto Bertrami (Wow)
but every single cut in this album is a smash hit like
    - Estreito de Taruma
    and
    - Chao de Terra (Country Road).

If you like Brazilian Jazz or Jazz in general, this should be in your collection before it goes out of print.
