Fabulous voice.......2005-02-05

To compare Pasión Vega's voice to Norah Jones is unfair to Vega (Vega has more body and more "uumph"). Vega's voice boasts incredible control and she sings with an ease that is a delight to listen to because it's also melifluous, full and solid. She can be forceful, soft, melancholic, happy. As this CD is the first that I know of her, For me personally, this combination of songs is a bit too mainstream pop/ballad sounding. I would like to hear her do something with more flamenco flavor (evidently she has sung flamenco), or some fusion with jazz. Many of the songs have predictable melodies and they leave me yearning for something more creative. A few of the songs very much remind me of the old duo Sergio y Estibaliz (whom I enjoy). Anybody remember them!?

All in all, to use a hackneyed phrase I rarely am moved to write: Vega sings like a bird. The CD is worth it just to enjoy her vocal excellence.

I was searching for more CDs by this new artist Pasion Vega after buying and hearing her in her new CD "Banderas de Nadie" which I thought could only be compared to Norah Jones in a different language, I hope she records more CDs in her beautifu; voice
