African influenced samba perfection.......2007-01-28

An acoustic samba album with clear african influences, an awesome rhythm section and masterful guest apperances from Joyce among others. I love the whole album, but can specially recommend Qulambola (wonderful duet with Joyce, listen to the choir in the end of the song!), the nice soft samba Africo, Kekereke (in unusual 7/4) and Nossa Cor. I have nothing but good words for this album and I will listen to it again and again.

this is one of my favorite albums ever. i can't imagine anyone not liking this. if you like music you should buy it. even if you don't understand all the subtleties (and there are many) within this album, especially in the lyrics which are difficult even for native, brazilian portuguese speakers, you will still enjoy the beauty of the music on this record.
also, you could probably teach a history or religeous studies course with just the titles of each track. unimaginable content.

a wonderful collection of songs drawing on the Yoruba heritage of Brazil. I have listened to it over and over.
