Victor Assis Brasil foi o maior saxofonista brasileiro e um dos melhores do mundo comparado a John Coltrane. Este disco mostra toda a força e o lirismo da música de Victor. O solo de Nada Será Como Antes é simplesmente maravilhoso e a introdução de Night And Day é avassaladora.
Disco altamente recomendado.

I don't have this CD, but one that contains several of its tracks and that is unfortunately unavailable at Amazon.

What I can say about Victor is that he was the greatest Jazz Saxophonist of Brazil.

His music mixes jazz with some elements of bossa nova. He was a very talented, virtuose saxophonist and his playing style was very pleasant.

He died prematurely in 1981, 35 year old.

Well, actually..........2002-01-02

This is not an album BY Geraldo Pereira (a 40s/50s singer who inspired Bebel's father, the legendary Joao Gilberto...) but rather a tribute TO Pereira, performed by Bebel and a fellow called Pedrinho Rodrigues... Also keep in mind that this disc was recorded (as near as I can figure) back in the 1980s, well before Bebel got into the high-tech bossatronica that you young folks seem to love so well... So in all fairness it might be appropriate to cut this disc some slack... or at least not place the same type of expectations on it as you do on her current material...

A bit of history ..........2001-05-21

First of all, Geraldo Pereira is a bit "unkown" even in Brazil. What can we expect abroad? However, if you like bossa nova, please pay attention to the authors of some songs that Joao Gilberto used to sing when bossa nova appeared - you'll find Geraldo Pereira there! So, consider this CD not a "bossa nova premimum" but a tribute to one of the "sources" used by Joao Gilberto, which means, one of the roots of bossa nova.

A very mediocre bossa nova album.......2000-02-20

I agree with Katie's review. I purchased this CD after hearing Bebel's excellent contributions to the "Next Stop Wonderland" soundtrack and "Brazil 2 Mil", and was very disappointed. I can't wait until her new album comes out though! While this CD is not terrible, I haven't had the urge to listen to it more than once or twice.

Not the Bebel of today..........2000-01-13

Due to this CD's import status, no retailer I found listed any information on the title. If you are familiar with the Bebel of today (of Towa Tei and Brasil 2 Mil fame), wait until Six Degrees Records releases her solo album in early 2000. Geraldo Pereira plays like bossa nova on Sesame Street, and I don't recommend it -- not even for the camp value.
