LOVELY MELODIOUS MEDITATIVE MUSIC.......2005-07-09

This is really nice sitar music. I also purchased "Journey" by Khan and that is just as nice. Sometimes sitar music can get a bit too frenetic for a peaceful mood. Not for those in India, for they are used to it--but rather older people from the west who may not be able to appreciate ragas for their own sake. But I love all of Khans albums.

Moving fusion.......2003-01-29

This is an evocative blend of classical Indian music and western harmonies. Ali Akbar Khan creates magic with the liquid sound of the sarod, and his fellow musicians do a great job rounding out his ideas with western-style violin and wind accompaniments. The general effect is relaxed, not excited. The pieces are rhythmic and emotional, and range from playful north Indian folksong to classical "khayaal" to blues. As east-west fusions go, this is definitely among the most successful.

Blissful : out of the world experience.......2004-03-19

This album tops my all time favorite list. The sounds which come out of this record take me to another world and makes me wonder what a man would do without music. Every note of the sitar and every beat of the tabla in this album are perfect, in sync with each other. The two songs in this cd, exploit the provess of these two great artists, which they gained over years of playing their respective instruments. Just buy this album, shut the doors, play this record and close your eyes and listen to the sounds attentively.. the experience is indescribable.
