I read an article saying that Ornella has one of the most beautiful voices to come from Italy; I agree with that. Her voice is really amazing, and I love this CD. I especially like the song,"Bello Amore".

If you're buying this CD Set because of the Ocean's Twelve song Appuntamento, DON"T.. Get the Ocean's Twelve CD for the Original Soul Inspiring Version. I cannot tell you how many songs I've heard over the years, that are arranged by total you know what.
But in the hands of a master arranger, come alive. There are many such sleeping beauties waiting to be reborn..

Another reviewer wanted the version of l'appuntamento he'd heard on Ocean's 12--he'll have to buy that soundtrack or Appuntaento con Ornella Vanoni.The thing is,neither album has that mellow,beachy feel throughout.The soundtrack has a lot of electronica(it is pretty cool).And her album is Italian pop from the '70s.If you want the beach-guitar sound like you heard on Ocean's 12--Go Buy Ornella's La Vogglia,La Pazzia--the Ocean's 12 song isn't on it,but the mood is the same.Maybe they'll capitalize on the attention she received from the movie and compile all the songs she performed on one album,so we can skip all that treacly Italian pop.

If you came here looking for the Ornella Vanoni track that you heard in Ocean's Twelve (L'Appuntamento) this is not it. This is a different version with a hokey groovy sixties organ and played up orchestration. It's not a BAD album, but if you came here for an album full of what you heard in Ocean's Twelve, this is not going to do it for you.

As a boy, I heard so many hyperbolic references to the legendary Enrico Caruso that I chose to purchase a remastered copy of his "Greatest Hits" when I first began to acquire recordings as a young man. Soon after, I discovered Pavarotti and my life was changed by his music. Caruso ended up in the Goodwill Store. I am convinced that in 500 years, should the earth cool again and the Muslim hoards abate, the civilized world will still tell tales of the greatest tenor. I have often found myself grumpy when searching for recordings of Pavarotti because of the inconsistent fidelity of the recordings. That search for the definitive Pavarotti recordings, regarding both content and fidelity, has ended with the release of this extraordinary collection. Worth it's weight in gold, the Puccinni Volume (#5) alone is enough to send someone like me into hyperspace. I am astounded by the beauty and power of these performances. I will always remember the day, not long ago, when a NPR commentator glibly mentioned between the weather and the night's playlist the terrible words, "Luciano Pavarotti has announced that he is retiring from Opera." I felt as if something indescribably beautiful was fading from the world. Of course, beauty in all of its earthly forms is fleeting at best, but these discs contain a reflection of it that will surely bolster any soul.

An Absolute Must-Have for Any Pavarotti Fan.......2004-01-09

...and that certainly goes without saying. My one tiny little problem with it is that his recordings of "Santa Lucia" and "Caruso" are not on this incredible box-set. Even though I have those recordings on other CDs, I still think those are very important pieces to include on this set (assuming that this set of Pavi hits would be the only compilation that that any fan of this phenomenal tenor would have). He is probably my biggest idol, and he deserves to have been one of the biggest opera stars in history.

The 1960's were the golden years of the "musica leggera" in Italy. Among the female voices to remember from those years, the one of Marisa Sannia produced fantastic songs. Finally, after many years, a CD with her major successes appears on the market. Le più belle canzone di Marisa Sannia is an excellent compilation of Marisa's most remarkable songs. There are here all her appearances at the San Remo Song Festival: "Casa bianca" (1968), "L'amore è una colomba" (1970), "Com'è dolce la sera" (1971), and "Amore, amore" (1984). The CD includes other songs from San Remo: "C'è chi spera" (from San Remo '67) and "Gli occhi miei" (from San Remo '68). Both songs were presented at the Festival for other singers; however, Marisa creates two excellent interpretations of these songs.
As a tribute to the late famous Italian singer and songwriter Sergio Endrigo - one of Marisa Sannia mentors - the CD includes "Tutto o niente," "Io che amo solo te," and "Mani bucate". Her recreation of "Io che amo solo te" - perhaps Endrigo's most achieved song- is really unique. Hopefully this excellent CD of Marisa Sannia will re-introduce her warm voice to new audiences, and it will create the need to produce another CD with other of Marisa's great songs, like "La mia terra," "Guarda," and many more.
