Kirk Franklin is remarkable...just when you think he can't out-do himself, he goes and out-does himself. The single "Look At Me Now" reminds me a bit of Hosanna because of it's blistering pace and perfect construction. The music completely fills the space without losing it's sharpness. I love the horns...i love how crisp the voices are...i love the lyrics. Even though you wouldn't expect a song titled, "Look At Me Now" to be a humble look at one's past, it is.

Kirk never fails to mention God's grace, he recognizes scripture and uses it appropriately and in context. I love this guy!

This CD is very uplifting, and includes some of my favorite tracks from Kirk Franklin. I would recommend it for those times when you are feeling down and you need encouragement. This was a good purchase.

Don't be fooled, if you think your getting an album of new music your not, however you are getting a great collection of Kirk Franklin's songs that I'm sure has brought many of us through our storms. There is also one new song on this album called "Look at me now". I have to admit when I first heard this song I didn't not like it at all. Then I listened to it again and have been touched by it every since. It's a very upbeat song that gives the statement "I been through alot of things in my life, but look at me now, look where God has brought me from". I get joy everytime I hear this song and think about those things. Great collection of old classics and a new song that is sure to keep you praising. For Kirk Franklin fans, this is a must have!

Whoopi Goldberg has a lot of talents, but singing is not one of them. Hearing her massacre Motown classics like "Dancing in the Street," "Ball of Confusion" and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" in her flat, dull voice on this soundtrack album would be harmless if a whole generation weren't being introduced to these songs through her clumsy performances. Several choirs turn in lackluster performances of gospel numbers. The disc's one redeeming moment is Aretha Franklin's overpowering delivery of "A Deeper Love," written and produced by C+C Music Factory. --Geoffrey Himes

Great Soundtrack.......2007-06-16

I remember when this movie first came out. My brother rented it and let me watch with him. I watched it like 2 more times before he had to take it back. I then bought the movie and it is still one of my favorite movies today. I like the movie soo much because of the music. I had the soundtrack on a cassette tape and I use to listen to it all the time in my portable tape player (that seems like ages ago) and I'm only 21! Lol! Anyways this is a great album to listen to...especially when you love to sing like I do!!

Please everybody ignores Amazon's review of this album. I am 16 years old, and I was three years old when this movie and soundtrack came out. And at an early age this entire project(movie and soundtrack) gave me a love of music, which is why I like to sing now and introduced me to quality music and great classics, and not like the mess that we hear today. So for anybody who has contemplated bying this project, listen if everytime you watch the movie, you cant help to sing along with them, them you need to purchase this album. Because it will certainly bless you.

A Most Relaxing and Peaceful Collection.......2007-07-01

This album was my first introduction to Fernando Ortega, and I'm absolutely hooked now. This has to be one of the most peaceful and relaxing collections I have ever heard. The melodies are beautiful and the words are so simple and pure (most are direct quotes from scripture). I even use it in my 3 year-old son's bedroom for lullabies. These songs make you think and reflect on God and His Son. I particularly like how Fernando blends scriptures from the Old and New Testaments into one song (Let the Words of My Mouth). I am an oncology nurse, and at the end of a stressful work day, I can listen to this in my car, and I am instantly refocused & refreshed. I wholeheartedly recommend this album - you won't regret it!

A Deeply Worshipful Album.......2007-02-24

I have grown to love Fernando's work. As I get older, I enjoy his music--it really draws me into God's presence, especially as I'm reading the Word or praying. Not all Christian music does that for me, but Fernando's does.

This album is wonderful, its pensive, thoughtful. I really sense that Fernando means what he says, that he's deeply into the music and not just creating another CD.

I really recommend this CD, it really helps draw you into the heart of God.

I have realized since having a child that I am rather critical of the arrangements of many music CDs for kids. This CD is wonderful. All of the reviews are true. The Cedarmont Kids are singing in a "normal" manner and are easy to listen to. By normal I really mean just plain singing by kids that you can listen to for an extended period of time. This is not a jazzed up CD which is what makes it perfect for me. I really wanted a few CDs of Christian music that included songs that I heard as a child. This CD is so well produced that I feel it would be a welcome addition to any Christian parent's CD collection. I think that I may start including Cedarmont Kids CDs in my baby shower gifts since this is one item that can be used for several years.

I love this cd albumn. I love it that Donnie McClurkin and the choir sings in so many different languages! I love the beat and the energy in each song. This CD has a nice mix of hymns, praise songs and traditional songs from the black church. Both CD's are good, but i do prefer the first one. Favorite songs include:

A fantastic worship cd with a difference - it will take me a log time to get sick of this one. While I already knew most of the songs, it was good to hear them again differently.

I'm a little biased. When I heard his music on the radio I "liked" it, but not "loved" it. However, on a whim, I recently saw him in concert and had a great time. Seeing Lincoln live offered me the opportunity to see the man behind the music. He's a worship leader that loves the Lord and is genuine about who he is and his calling right here, right now.

Powerful Praise and Worship.......2007-05-29

Lincoln Brewster is among the best when it comes to praise and worship music. This CD is a great demonstration of that.

From start to finish, this is packed full of very good tracks. At least one is absolutely outstanding: 'Everlasting God'. That tune is amazing. The ending with the child reading from Isaiah 40 is one that may make the hair stand up on the back of one's neck. It is powerful and unforgettable. That song is at least a six on a 1-5 scale.

I highly recommend this CD.

Lincoln's "Let the Praises Ring" CD is just awesome from track 1 throughout the entire CD. His guitar playing, band, & vocals uplift you so one cannot help but sing along. What a wonderful voice and musical talent he has been blessed with! You can feel his energy in each song.

Since our move from Northern California, we definitely miss worshipping along with Lincoln and our former church; but, this CD helps A LOT!

The fact that Porter Wagoner brought non-other than James Brown in to perform at The Grand Ol' Opry should give you some indication that he is much more than a pompador & purple Nudie suit.

Johnny Cash once remarked, "No one tells a story like Porter Wagoner" & the likes of "Fairchild" & "Jim Johnson" are all the proof you need. Murder, lust, madness,& sheer unmitigated heartbreak abound here. In short, this as macabre as Country Music gets. With perhaps, just the right amount of unintentional kitch thrown in to sweeten the deal. Regardless of that, the sincerity of of "Moments Of Meditation" & "Lonely Comin' Down" cannot be denied.

Though perhaps somewhat overshadowed by a certain tall haired protege, many of the songs here reveal not only a consummate craftsmen, but also someone willing to push the boundries of his genre. I'd be hard pressed to find another song quite like "Rubber Room" filed under "Country". At times, it borders on 60's Psyche. Fortunately, Wagoner's forays into Disco have not been included.

Songs like, "Fairchild" & "The First Mrs. Jones" have more in common with the Pulp Noir novels of Jim Thompson than anything you might have seen on Hee Haw. Despite sometimes lush arrangements, these songs capture the true bleakness lying behind Country's shopworn cliches. Many of the songs here bring a chill as they tickle the funnybone.

While Hank Williams Sr.'s Luke The Drifer recordings are an obvious influence, I'd say it all lies somewhere inbetween a Countryfied Serge Gainsbourg & Leon Payne's "Psycho".

Maudlin, macabre & heartfelt, this is one of the finest Wagoner collections on offer. Not to mention some of the darkest stuff to ever come out of Nashville. It's rapdily becoming one of my favorite Country albums of all time. Much more than the man who introducted us to Dolly Parton, here's proof that Wagoner is truely one of the most underrated figures in Country Music.

Haunting Country Storytelling .......2007-03-29

First off, this is not a greatest hits package, so if you are interested in that, you might want to look at some of the RCA packages that are excellent. But . . .
Storytelling has long been a basic facet of Southern life and country music strongly reflects the storytelling infleunce. There was a time when those stories weren't all happy, fluffy pieces like you will hear today. Go far enough back in country music history and murder songs abound, some repentant, others defiant. "Rubber Room" compiles a ranging collection of story songs recorded by Porter Wagoner. The truth is that these songs aren't always pleasant and they aren't feel good. But they plunge into the depths of the human condition with deep insight. What you get is a portrait of an extremely strong artist performing some powerfully written songs. Summarizing them is difficult so I would say they best thing you could do is experience this CD. Everything from miscegenation to adultery to the paralyzing impact of alcohol is explored here. And it helps to underscore what all of us Southerners have known, Porter Wagoner is a fine singer and interpeter of song.

My eleven yr old first heard the songs on this CD about 5 years ago. He still really enjoys listening to them now. The CD was a replacement purchase for the old tapes we wore out.

I just bought this CD for myself and I love it! It would be great for students in a private school, or for Christmas, or sitting by a campfire at summer camp. These religious tunes are probably the most beautiful I have ever heard. My favorites are "He's got the Whole World" and "Michael Row the Boat." Up till today, I never even knew that the "he" of the first song mentioned in this review refers to the one-and-only God. Basically, this is an ideal CD to have in every child's house and every grade school since it teaches children to appreciate God more than anything else in the universe. Just ignore the fact that track 29 is substantially different from track 14. I must say these wonderful songs are waaaaaaaay better than some of the dull kids TV shows that came out recently. Oh, and if some of you animé fans out there like shows like "Water-spider Wonder-spider," you'll like this, too! Get it and you'll see what I mean.

A cute cd for kids and GREAT value!.......2005-09-26

I bought this cd for my daughter, after looking at a LOT of kid's cd's for Sunday School/Christian songs. She really loves the songs in Sunday School and tends to sing them throughout the rest of the week, so I thought she would probably love something like this.

For the price alone, you can't beat this cd for value. There are children singing the songs, instead of one adult, as I found in some other cd's. This is also a quality recording and the music isn't awful, as in some of the cheap cd's I've gotten in the last few years (most of which have one adult singing the songs to campy, almost techno music). Also, the words for each song are printed in the cd insert. Sure, my 5 year old can't really read the words yet, but it helps that *I* have access to the lyrics of a couple of songs that I either didn't know or was unsure of the lyrics to.

If you're looking for a good, quality cd of kid's Sunday School songs, you don't have to look any further. This is the PERFECT cd for you. I am going to get a couple of the other titles from this company and hopefully, they will be just as good. My daughter LOVES this cd and, as a parent, I am not cringing every time I hear it come on. :)
