Derrik Jordan
"Positive pop and globally conscious soul"
" Derrik Jordan is something of a one-man musical force of nature" -Vermont Sunday Magazine
Living in southern Vermont and playing throughout the northeast, Derrik Jordan has sung national jingles, worked with many bands and has had his songs recorded by other artists, but what really excites him is writing, recording and performing his original music for people. "Creating music is a sacred trust. That moment of ecstatic communion when performer and audience become one is truly one of life's greatest experiences," says Derrik.
"Touch The Earth" (2002) took over a year to record, with Derrik singing and playing 95% of it himself. Other very special guests include Tom "T-Bone" Wolk (Hall and Oates, Carly Simon, Saturday Night Live Band) on bass and nylon string guitar, Nebulai on didgeridoo and the Mighty Simba Horns. Conceived as a celebration of nature and a call to environmental action, "Touch The Earth" is a collection of 13 songs that share an environmental theme, recorded with full band arrangements in a variety of world music styles (reggae, afro-pop, samba, salsa and funk) and features Derrik's passionate 5-string electric violin playing throughout. His song "Something's Gonna Change" from the CD won top honors as 2002 Reggae Song of the Year from Just Plain Folks, the world's largest songwriter organization.
As a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, environmental activist and teacher Derrik is used to wearing a lot of hats. On "Expecting A Miracle" (1997), co-produced with Tom "T-Bone" Wolk, he worked with a stellar cast of top NYC studio musicians. His song "Something Beautiful," from that album received extensive national airplay at college radio and was included on "The World Will Remember," a CD benefiting the September 11th disaster victims of NYC.In 1992, Derrik made his national debut as a recording artist on "Right As Rain," a CD supporting the Rainforest Action Network that also featured such artists as Jerry Garcia, Paul Winter, Mickey Hart and Beausoleil. Derrik has studied congas with master drummer Milford Graves and has traveled to Brazil, Trinidad and Ghana, West Africa to further develop his craft. He has produced jazz, folk, Native American and award-winning children's independent recordings. He performs with many bands including Tony Vacca's World Rhythms and The Jo Sallins Experience. "SuperString Theory" (2003), his first all instrumental CD, showcases his 5-string electric violin in duets with balafon, kora, didgeridoo, sitar and more.

Excellent collection with fine performances.......2007-03-28
"essential film scores from 1939 to 2004 ~ Incredible Music".......2005-05-16
There are compilations and then there are "Compilations" beginning with a classic that even the youngsters today recognize "GONE WITH THE WIND" (1939) (Max Steiner), sweeping score that captures the tragic history of the South during the Civil War, one great cue after another, it doesn't get any better than this, nominated by the Academy for Best Original Score...and closing on Disc 4 with "THE INCREDIBLES" (2004) (Michael Giacchino), the big hit in computer animation from Walt Disney & Pixar that once again pit Super-Heroes against the forces of evil...our family of five Supers prove crime doesn't pay, but box-office receipts do...gotta love it!
Silva Screen Classics as usual, has put quality into this 4-CD-Set featuring The City Of Prague Philarmonic Orchestra and the Crouch End Festival Chorus conducted by Kenneth Alwyn, Bill Ashton, Paul Bateman, James Fitzpatrick, Mario Klemens, Derek Wadsworth, and Nic Raine. Recorded in "Dolby Surround" with the new technology of "HDCD", this is a "film-score-buffs" dream, one to treasure now and years to come.
Some selections are missing, but when you think of what Silva has included, it is impossible to please everyone...was happy to see "TOUCH OF EVIL" (1958) from composer Henry Mancini, as I feel this composer deserves all the recognition that has been overlooked recently in the music world...This collection is aimed directly at the "Serious Film Score" music fans and collectors...Silva is as always, perfect in every way...just the way we like 'em!

Lovers of R&B will dig it!.......2006-12-24
War with Myself - This song really sets us up for the whole tone of the album. With introspective and thoughtful lyrics and a nice low-key groove, this is one of my favorites on the album.
Dust in the Wind - The classic Kansas tune is reborn here, but the original isn't lost in this A Capella style favorite. Another soulful hit.
Dime Rhyme Segue - Break out your beat-box on this one. Makes you think.
One Ragged Angel - Continuing the theme of the "homeless angel" from the previous track, this song makes me think about how to see God working in all things, and how there's always an opportunity to glorify him. Great beat, great lyrics, great melody.
They Are the Roses - a hauntingly beautiful song, "They Are the Roses" is a touching reminder of the responsibility we've been given to raise up our children in a godly way. It really puts things into perspective.
Emergency - This song has an awesome, original beat with a slightly Salsa flavor. Another reminder of why God has placed us on earth.
You Are There - My personal favorite on this album, and, for me, ranks right up next to the quintessential "Rescue." Absolutely incredible vocals on this one, especially the second verse.
Glory and Honor - this song is a reminder of what we're doing all of this for - a hopeful look at what God has in store for us. I can't wait! The tight harmonies here highlight the skills of the group.
Y.R.A.G Radio Segue - This is just plain fun. This must have been the result of letting Gary Evans play with the recording equipment (and is the lowest bass part on the planet.)
Gone Away - Another hopeful song with a great beat. Of all the songs on the album, this one sounds the most like Keith Lancaster and the older style of Acappella. You'll find yourself running to the slip cover to get all the lyrical parts, since the vocals kind of bounce off one another. Technically masterful with a great message.
Take Me There - "I've got my bags packed and I'm ready to take flight." Every time I hear this one I can't help but smile. Strong vocals on this one, smooth beat, and encouraging message.
Give Me Jesus - This song is a wonderful closer, and really brings you into the room with the singers. There are some incredible harmonies going on in this straight A Capella piece that I'm still trying to figure out. By the way, those aren't violins in the background, either! Great use of volume and tone.
I almost feel like a traitor to the previous Acappella releases, but this is my favorite album of theirs. Above "Rescue", "Set Me Free," and "Spirituals," it is a must-have in my collection.

I found this CD in chicago, where this brit now lives, and the tunes and themes are such a retrieval cue for sunday afternoons watching these old stiff upper lip black and white movies on tv. Just what I needed, although the addition of 4 weddings is slightly odd. Good quality recordings...:-)

Customer Reviews:
Very nice compilation with focus on "healing touch".......2005-10-26
The idea of this CD is to provide background music for those who work in the field of "healing with the application of touch." The focus would be masseuses, Reiki practitioners, and in offices of therapists of all kinds where delicate, soft music would be beneficial. The music is generally light, airy, having basic melodies that can be focused on and followed. The choice of the Artists as well as representative works that are soft yet strong is expertly accomplished with this compilation. The total time for these nine tracks is 66:42.
Deuter has three offerings on this CD. Silent Wave is a piano piece, very soft, contemplative and is the first track on this CD, setting the pace for those that follow. Olive Grove, track seven, is flute and Indian instruments with an electronica fill, creating a lovely soundscape that is suggestive of Eastern music but orchestrated enough to be very familiar to Western ears. Again, the flow is soft, melodious, and relaxing. Deuter also closes the CD with the final (ninth) trackIsland in the Sun. This piece continues in the same vein as the previous works, soft, very melodious, with the suggestion of "Bali Bells" that give this an "Eastern Islands" feel. Again, very airy, very soft, and in keeping with the balance of the material on the CD.
Anugama provides this CD with two tracks. The second track Call of the Search is bamboo flute with electronic fill. This bamboo flute piece is suggestive of contemplative moments and gives a feel of soulfulness. It is very controlled so it remains in harmony with the other works on the CD. The fourth track, The Empty Sky is also provided by Anugama. This piece is different from the other work as it is lighter and airy, almost spacey at times, with tinkling bells and electronica suggestive of voices and an orchestra. Again, a delightful offering from Anugama.
Al Gromer Khan also has two tracks on this CD. Track three How Can We Be Sure is soft and mellow, with light Indian Sitar and keyboard in a mellow jazz beat. Very expertly rendered and very subtle in it's feel. The sixth track Utopia Al Kahira has a more defined Eastern beat, but not jarring, with soft sitar and electronica fill suggesting voices and keyboard. Another expertly controlled work that keeps to the softness yet adds to the strength of the CD.
Aum by Terry Oldfield, is the fifth track and this work has a very Eastern feel, with flute and sitar. It is one of the stronger pieces on this CD. There is electronic fill and bells, giving this piece a bit more presence and makes us take notice of it. But it remains melodious and relaxing, in keeping with the other works.
James Asher presents us with track eight Cedar Tree and this piece is much more Native American in feel. This is a flute piece with background fill that is non-descript enough to allow you to focus on the expert flute work. This piece is another contemplative, soulful work that calls to us but does not intrude. A very lovely offering from Mr. Asher.
The mood set by the collection is achieved with the expert choices of representative works of these Artists. The entire CD lends itself to being a background for those who work in the healing arts, relaxing your clients and offering both the practitioner and the client focus during the working process. I also found this to be good background music while I am working. Non-intrusive, yet calming and relaxing when I am focusing on what I am doing.
This CD is a good choice for those working in the healing arts, or someone who is looking for soft, contemplative music for background in their busy lives. A good addition to anyone's New Age library. mafoster

Album Description
Touch The Earth is a collection of unreleased tracks from former Strawbs members, recorded in the early '80s but unreleased until now! Dave Lambert (guitar) and Chas Cronk (bass) played with Strawbs throughout most of the '70s when the band was touring to promote their hit albums Grave New World, Bursting At The Seams, Hero And Heroine and Ghosts. When Strawbs ceased touring in 1980, the two musicians decided to form Lambert Cronk, alongside latter-day Strawbs members Andy Richards and Tony Fernandez. However, as fate would have it, Trevor Horn invited Andy Richards to become the keyboard sound of Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Chas Cronk was invited to join the Steve Hackett Band where he met Nick Magnus, and Tony Fernandez went on a world tour with Rick Wakeman. In the end, an album's worth of Lambert Cronk material was recorded but, as Punk had become the raging flavor of the day, it remained on the shelf. Witchwood. 2007.Album Details

Excellent background music for the Reiki Practitioner.......2005-04-14
This CD contains five tracks for a total play time of 52:05 minutes. The focus of this CD is to provide background accompaniment to the healing art of Reiki.
The two artists combine their talents to provide gentle, floating soundscapes that allows the client to relax and focus on the attentions of the Reiki practitioner as the healing modality is applied. The kiboe provides the placid melodies while the keyboard provides soothing backfill. The titles "Entering the Mystery", "Gently Floating" and "Blissful Arrival" are suggestive of the feeling the artists successfully convey with this work. There are elements of water and other "environmental sounds" which adds to the soothing nature of this music. Each piece smoothly melds into the next, never lifting the feeling of the music from the listener.
This is a excellent example of the work of these two artists who have collaborated many times together. The CD works very well with the Reiki healing modality and I highly recommend it.
