The Very Best of Ozzie Nelson, Vol. 1: 1932-1934

Editorial Reviews

Product Description
To the baby boomer generation, Oswald George Nelson is an American icon. "Ozzie and Harriet" was America's first "reality" television show. Sons were played by their real sons Ricky and David, and when they married, their real wives became characters on the show. Before television, Ozzie was a renowned bandleader of an orchestra originally based at the Glen Island Casino on Long Island. He found a perfect match in 1932 when Harriet Hilliard (the former Miss Peggy Lou Snyder of Des Moines, Iowa) joined the band. In true Hollywood fashion, Ozzie and Harriet were married in 1935. The twenty-five recordings on this compilation were made by the Ozzie Nelson Orchestra for the Brunswick and Vocalion labels between the years 1932 and 1934.
