What else is there to say but the "Best"?.......2001-12-09

I'm not a big country fan, although, I had a chance to meet the singer in person, and I have to say, this is a wonderful CD. He has a great voice that I know will go far. Why hasn't he been out sooner? Every song makes you feel like he's singing it to you as you listen, no matter what kind of day you're having. I believe my favorite song has got to be "Bud's a Little Wiser". His voice is just awesome as he changes from one key to another. The writing on this album is wonderful. The story behind "He Smiled" has to be wonderful or else he just has a great imagination. I LOVE that song, too! There isn't enough words to say about the entire album. There isn't one song on there I don't like to hear. Sometimes, on CD's, there's one or two I'll skip over, but on this one, I like them all. Great work. Can't wait to hear the next one!!!

ON A MUSICAL NOTE, THIS IS A GREAT ALBUM. ONE OF THE BEST I'VE HEARD IN A LONG TIME,THIS ALBUM HAS IT ALL, THE UP TO DATE COUNRTY,AND THE SOUTHEN SYTLE OF THE LATE 80'S THIS CLEVER COWBOY REMINDS ME OF GARTH BROOKS WHEN HE FRIST CAME OUT IN 89. JEFF'S A GOOD COMBO OF VINCE GILL & GARTH BROOKS.NOT TO MENTION HE'S AS CUTE AS JOHN MICHEAL MONTGOMERY& GARTH BROOKS PUT TOGETHER. BUT WHEN I HEARD THE SONG "HE SMILED" FOR FRIST TIME I CRIED,GOD HAS BLESSED JEFF WITH THE VOICE TO SING WHAT SO MANY TAKE FOR GRANTED EVER DAY. ON A MORE UPBEAT NOTE "DEFINITE POSSIBILITIES","SOMEBODY'S DRINKIN'","DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF LOVE"&"HARD JOB LOVING HER" ALL OF THESE SONGS MAKE YOU WANT TO DANCE UNTIL DAWN, THEN THERE'S "BUD'S A LITTLE WISER" NOT SAYIN' IT'S NOT A GOOD SONG JUST THAT IT REMINDS YOU OF "GARTH'S HIT SONG" "FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES" JUST NOT IN THE SAME FORMAT. BUT I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT"MASTER OF ILLUSION" DIDN'T MAKE THIS ALBUM, I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE ,INCLUDING MYSELF CAN RELATE TO THAT SONG. BUT AT LEAST "GRAVITY" DID MAKE THIS ALBUM,THIS IS A HIT SONG WAITING TO HAPPIN. "ON THE OTHER SIDE"IS A BEAUTIFUL SONG THAT YOU'ED HEAR AT A WEDDING, THIS SONG IS A POETIC LOVE STORY PUT TO MUSIC. THEN THERE'S THE SONG "STATE OF LOSING ANA"THIS IS A SAD LOVE STORY ABOUT A MAN THAT LOST THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE,(BUT NOT THE WAY YOU THINK).THIS SONG IS A WAY FOR WOMEN TO TELL THERE MAN DON'T TAKE US FOR GRANTED. I BELIEVE THAT IF THIS IS THE LIFE LONG DREAM THAT JEFF BEST "THE CLEVER COWBOY"LONGS FOR,THEN WITH THIS MANS BLESSED GOD GIVIN' TALENTS HE CAN ACHIEVE HIS DREAMS.

No singing style (except bad), terrible production, the worse vocal phrasing I have ever heard. This album includes the songs "He Smiled" and "Bud's a Little Wiser" - Two of the best written country tunes I have heard in years and could be huge hits in the hands of a capable artist, however, Jeff Best is not the guy. I appreciate the effort Jeff puts forth but not when I am spending my money!! I can hear better singing when my wife is in the shower. Is this review cruel? Well...Is it truthful? Yes, without a doubt.
