Classic Everly - A Must for all their Fans.......2007-02-18
Treat yourself to the sweet harmonies of the Everly Brothers, with a CD that has been remastered to underscore their pure sound. Played this for my musician son in law who was not familiar with their music and he is so impressed. All the hits are here, sounding better than ever. An outstanding addition to your collection --
The BEST Everly Brothers album you will ever need, .......2007-01-10
Long ago in californialand, i heard the last everly brothers "hit", on the wings of a nightingale, 1 time and i knew I HAD to have it. Took me about 20 years to find it, in this album. If you really like good music, with tight harmonies, good guitar work, words you can understand, a little bit of country and early rock to the still bitchin, fresh, updated sound of nightingale, then STOP RIGHT HERE and get this album. Enough said!
Everly Brothers, best of.......2007-01-09
The Millennium collection seems to have the songs I always want from a group or artist. The quality of the sound is there everytime. As the local music stores disappear it is good to be able to trust a system like this as I replace much of my vinyl for a CD collection. This CD gives me what I want for the Everly Brothers in one purchase.
The Best.......2004-04-01
Any fan who appreciates the Everly Brothers has to have
this album. The remastered sound is superb of course, but
the deciding factor on this one should be the inclusion
of their last hit, after more than 20 years had passed since
their previous one.
After the team reunited, one of their biggest fans wrote
a song especially for them. Paul McCartney wrote "Wings of
a Nightingale" for them, and it is a truly beautiful song
that displays their harmony at its best, and the song is
not usually found on other collections.
Get the best of all their classic early hits, plus this
last hit.
A must have for any fan.

Customer Reviews:
Unsung heros of the Motown era.......2007-07-14
If you liked "the Motown Sound" you will be pleased to listen to the great studio musicians who were the creators of this unique, magical music. It was a surprise at first to learn that all the great Motown singers were backed up in the studio by the same incredible musicians. These CDs contain the original band of musical brothers backing up our finest young contemporary singer-artists. Much of the music was recorded live, in concert for a very lucky audience. I wish I had been there. This collection puts you there for awhile.
You could do like I have done and purchase the documentary film on dvd for your television and the CDs for your ipod.
The Funk Brothers Accompaniment Tracks.......2007-07-08
I was familiar with the movie and soundtrack, "Standing in the Shadows of Motown", and thoroughly enjoyed them both. The second disc of this set with naked instrumental remixes of the original Motown hits was a welcome suprise. In particular, hearing the bass work of James Jamerson was like a master lesson in bass playing.
Get this!!.......2007-07-05
This is great. The Funk Brothers can still cook. Liner notes are a great read. Backing tracks on disc 2 are very interesting and fun to listen to. The performances on disc 1 from the Standing in the Shadows movie are all very good. You can tell however that the voice of the late David Ruffin is sorely missed in Aint to Proud to Beg.
Get it.....it will have you dancin'.
Can't stop dancing.......2007-04-13
I purchased this CD after watching the movie. I was not disappointed! My 7 year old daughter claims that she doesn't like Mom's music and there was no way she'd be dancing when I played it. Well, she couldn't sit down! I love to dance and I love upbeat music. This is highly recommended to anyone who likes something funky to move to. Get it!
Classic Motown.......2007-03-08
I bought this CD after previously buying the DVD and watching the documentary of the Funk Brothers. Joan Osborne (whom I never heard of before this album or DVD was released) is astounding. Her rendition of "What becomes of the broken hearted" is unmatched by anyone ever. The CD sounds excellent and could not be improved in any way. Instrumental's like "Bernadette" are very well crafted with different instruments coming in as the song requires. I would buy this one again or for gifts as it is one you won't put in your CD file and not play again. I keep my copy in my car and play it several times a week. It's great fun and professionally packaged..one of the best packaged CD's I have seen so far. They did a good job on this one and it shows...in every way.

Customer Reviews:
Simply definitive, even without Don't Keep Me Wonderin'.......2007-07-01
If you're looking for an introduction to the group, start here! Two discs, and unlike a certain OTHER compilation one isn't a straight-up reissue of Enlightened Rogues (though you get close to a straight-up reissue of the debut: that would've been cool if they threw on Every Hungry Woman and did that, since they were quite close). This collects all the group's big hits and radio staples: Dreams, Whippin' Post, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed (the live version, too!), Midnight Rider, Revival, Statesboro Blues, One Way Out, Ain't Wastin' Time No More, Melissa, Blue Sky, Little Martha, Wasted Words, Ramblin' Man, Southbound, Jessica (though unfortunately it's the single edit, not the essential full version) and Crazy Love; mixes in lesser known fan favorites like It's Not My Cross to Bear, Stand Back, Come and Go Blues (well I'm a fan and it's one of my favorites, at least), and mixes in a few of their comeback hits (Seven Turns, Good Clean Fun, End of the Line, No One to Run With, High Cost of Low Livin'). That's really the only area this album needed improvement in. I mean, who needs the Arista songs? (Hell and High Water and Never Knew How Much I Needed You, that is). I'd rather hear Get On With Your Life, Back Where It All Begins, True Gravity or Old Before My Time (though I think this came out a year before Hittin' the Note, which explains the sinlge edit of High Cost of Low Livin'). Still, Stand Back is a perfect premeire for the Brothers, even if it misses a couple good songs here and there, mostly from Idlewild South (Don't Keep Me Wonderin', Please Call Home), wouldn't that just defeat the purpose of buying the album?
I would like to lament the lack of the Fillmore East Stormy Monday, though. Even pathetic, budget-priced compilations such as Legendary Hits and Essential (AKA half partially essential, half Enlightened Rogues) find room for it.
Blast From The Past.......2007-06-08
A very nice gathering of Allman Brothers' songs with their timeless Southern rock/blues....for those who are die hard Allman Brothers fans...and even for those who aren't....you will simply LOVE this CD....a huge "thumbs up"
Great overview of a great band.......2007-04-12
This 2 disc comp is an excellent way to listen to a very talented band. From early classics like "Statesboro Blues", "Melissa", "Jessica" and "Rambling Man" to ther newer material like "Seven Turns", "End of the Line" and "No One to Run With anymore". It's all good. They also have a 2-disc set called GOLD that focuses primarily on their seventies output, so if you prefer that to their later stuff then check that out too. Two thumbs up!
Wonderful!.......2007-01-13
I love this Allman Brother's compilation, it's got so many great, essential songs from their career, plus excellent linear notes! I think the Allman Brothers were underrated, as part of rock history and this anthology gives them the credit they so rightfully deserve. It's the definitive Allman Brothers and has excellent sound. You won't be disappointed!
~Glorious~.......2006-10-26
Glorious, what more can be said. Gregg Allman is really the only white guy that can sing the Blues. He is the only one. Others try and there is always something missing, Allman lacks nothing. Combined with Gregg Allman's vocals, the genius musicianship of the other players in this band and the writing skills, the Allamn Brothers Band is one of the best bands in the history of music. This offering captures their greatness, enjoy !

Customer Reviews:
Not My Style.......2007-05-11
This CD has a lot of good songs on it, but it just too bland for our taste. We prefer Western music to sound as though genuine cowboys are singing it - not a fancy chorus!
Rockin' Western Collection.......2006-08-28
For anyone who likes movie/tv music from westerns should purchase this CD. What a wonderful collection of both film and tv with great renditions of each piece. I'm about to purchase Vol. 1 to complete my collection.
Hard to Find Great Western Themes .......2006-03-16
This CD has a number of great western themes that are not in some of the standard lists. For example it includes "The Hallejuah Trail", "Blazing Saddles", and "Giant". This CD also has what I consider the true theme of "The Comancheros". I have been disappointed with some other CDs I have purchased listing "The Comancheros" which had a song rather than this theme. Many of the tracks on this two disk CD go beyond the main theme music and are actually suites. The "Big Country" and "How the West Was Won" are just a couple of examples. It may be a little more expense than some CDs, but not bad for a two disk set. I am really happy with my purchase.
Western Music.......2005-07-29
I enjoy this CD. It has many familiar melodies. Good background for reading, nice to listen while driving. It is also the only CD I've ever found that has the great theme from the movie "Giant."
A great follow-up.......2003-08-29
This is the second collection by SilvaScreen, who are also responsible for "The Wild West: The Essential Western Film Music Collection" (see my review). And it's just as good as the first. There are themes in here that everyone will recognize ("Bonanza," "A Fistful of Dollars"), themes that may not be so familiar ("Duel in the Sun," "The Hanging Tree," the lively "Blazing Saddles"), and even themes you may not associate with Westerns at all ("The Friendly Persuasion"). And no duplication either: when this disc includes a piece from one of the same sources covered in its predecessor, it's a different piece. One great treat: the full lyrics to "Gunfight at OK Corral," which I've never heard outside the soundtrack of the movie itself. The arrangement from "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid" includes not only the familiar song "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head" but an overview of the music--seguing almost seamlessly into Bernstein's magnificent "The Comancheros," a rare find indeed. An expensive item, but if you love Western film music, well worth it.

Beautiful.......2006-09-22
I also used "Hymne" for my bridesmaid's procession and I received many compliments on my choice of music.
One of a kind.......2006-01-15
When I found this cd online, the song, 'The Hymne' jumped out at me. I absolutely loved it for the procession of all my bridesmaids, it was soft and elegant. I looked everywhere and I couldn't find that song or that cd anywhere. I was very excited to find it on Amazon. The songs definitely fit my wedding and it turned out perfect.

The Heart and Soul of New Orleans.......2006-03-01
As I write this, it's the evening of Fat Tuesday. A scaled-down Mardi Gras celebration in a city ravished by hurricanes attempts to add a sense of what passes for normalcy these days in the Crescent City. There are a number of acts closely identified with New Orleans: Huey "Piano" Smith, Professor Longhair, Fats Domino, Dr. John. But one of the pillars of New Orleans R&B are the Neville Brothers. And this 2-disc compilation covers five decades of their history from the Art Neville-led Hawketts' 1954 hit "Mardi Gras Mambo" through 2004's "Walkin' in the Shadow of Life" (from the album of the same name).
Across 32 tracks, this collection hits all the right notes. There's Aaron's first hit from 1960 "Over You," as well as his signature song, "Tell It Like It Is." As the Meters, Art had an instrumental hit with "Cissy Strut" in 1969 and "Look-Ka Py Py" in 1970. As The Wild Tchoupitoulas, they record "Brother John in 1976. It wasn't until 1977 that they recorded as The Neville Brothers, including "Brother John" and "Washable Ink" from their eponymous debut. Perhaps their best album was FIYO ON THE BAYOU. Four tracks are included from this landmark recording: "Sitting in Limbo," "Mona Lisa (Dedicated to Bette Middler)," "Fire on the Bayou" and "Hey Pocky Way." [This album impressed the Rolling Stones enough to have The Neville Brothers as the opening act for several shows during their 1982 US tour.]
The collection finishes with highlights from YELLOW (1989), BROTHER'S KEEPER (1990), FAMILY GROOVE (1992) and LIVE ON PLANET EARTH (1994), including a sizzling live version of "Voodoo." All told, this is two hours of the best of The Neville Brothers, who represent the heart and soul of New Orleans. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Product Description
Here is the album where Norman Whitfield said goodbye to the Temptations and hello to a new L.A. groove. To record his final LP with the group in 1973, no longer did Whit use the Funk Brothers to lay down Motown's old-school Detroit funk. Now he was in Hollywood, cutting these band tracks with discovery Rose Royce.
1990 followed the albums All Directions and Masterpiece, two classics of Whitfield's psychedelic soul. This album worked the successful Whitfield formula: short radio hits that snapped with soul and tight rhythms, complemented by spaced-out suites about a screwed-up society that took up almost a whole LP side.
1990 featured "Let Your Hair Down," a No. 1 R&B smash, and two singles that hit the Top 10, the sublime "Heavenly" and "You've Got My Soul On Fire." Yet the album, although No. 2 R&B and Top 20 Pop, has never been issued on CD until now. The beautifully remastered disc is encased in a mini version of the original, double-cardboard sleeve packaging.

I Can Finally Retire My 8-Track!!.......2007-06-12
This is a tremendous album. I have been a long time fan of Edwards and Damon, who I always felt gave Ruffin and Kendricks a run for their money, and this album demonstrates their superior vocal skills. Now, for my money, "All Directions" (feat. 'Papa was a Rolling Stone') and "A Song for You" (feat 'A Song for You', 'Memories') were better overall albums track for track, but that's like saying I prefer Lexus to Mercedes. Where I actually prefer this album to any Temps album is the tenor of the messages in the lyrics, artfully reflected in great vocals with a music score that is intelligent, and not overblown (sometimes I feel that current artists don't understand that, often, less is more). I was pleasantly surprised, and encouraged, by what I see as an effort by some record labels to finally begin to fill some of the disgraceful gaps in album reissues in the R&B genre. "Greatest Hits" compilations can never, NEVER do justice to reflecting the concepts that are instilled in true album releases. Good for you, Guys. Keep it up!!!!
One Worth Owning.......2007-05-31
I grew up listening to The Temptations, and I bought his album when it was initially released. I was never a fan of the radio hits "You've Got My Soul On Fire" and "Let Your Hair Down." They aren't bad songs, but for me they just didn't live up to their previous hits, or some of the hits that followed on the album "A Song For You." But the rest of the tracks on "1990" more than make up for the shortcomings of those two tracks. "Heavenly" is a smooth a love ballad as you'd ever want to hear, and is equaled by "I Need You." "There Ain't No Justice" is an excellent social commentary. "Zoom" and "1990" both could have been hit singles, in my opinion. Overall, "1990" is a disc worth having, and it's about time this one was released on CD.
One of the best Temptation's recordings ever........2007-05-03
This album was slammin' from beginning to end. "Heavenly" was definitely without a doubt the jam on here. This album also had a political message as well. Norman Whitfield was the man far as producing went on this project. I'm glad i was finally able to track it down on cd.
one of the best Temptation CD's.......2007-01-13
Having collected every LP and CD by the Temptations this is very close to their best work. As with all Norman Whitfield tracks the production is excellant. Every track is outstanding, but prefering their faster tracks I feel the best track on the CD is Let Your Hair Down.
A mighty,Mighty Album.......2006-12-14
Iam on a mission to collect as many Temptations cds as possible...the good ones actually. This album 1990 is one of the really good ones..The harmony is astonishing and the remastering is mind blowing all together a masterpiece. Grab this one soon.
