"Paint By Numbers." In the third album, fans can expect a little less country and a lot more rock 'n' roll. Vocalist, songwriter and guitarist Bryn Loosley said the band has moved from playing mostly country rock music to more traditional rock 'n' roll. "Our first album was all country rock, then the second album had a little more rock in it," Loosley said. "The third however, is all rock" Loosley went on to define Buffalo Creek's music as retro-original. "The themes and ideas come from old-fashioned rock 'n' roll and are recycled, but are much more original," he said. "It's definitely a style you won't hear on the radio." And Loosley is right. "Paint By Numbers" is filled with thought-provoking, emotional tracks that will take your mind into pleasure mode. Whether it be "Barroom Queens," a Lynyrd Skynyrd-type tale about a groupie, or the deeply descriptive "Northern California," which is about lazy days at the river and the coming of fall, "Paint By Numbers" has a sound that's completely on its own level.

Paint by Numbers has been one of my favorite local bands for years and I am so excited that this long awaited album rocks so much. Their lyrics are well crafted and Justin's voice makes me fall in love with the songs each time I hear them. Though not as hard as Compromise, PBN's more refined Plastic sound rocks!

Currently, he fronts the popular electro/pop group Walter Meego, whose sound has spread from Chicago to Japan. Still a worthy purchase.......2006-09-06

Over the past four years, I've watched Omni evolve from an unusually talented trio of dedicated artists into an unusually talented *band*. Paint By Numbers is their first album and while a worthy disc from an excellent group, it no longer effectively captures what I feel has become the band's sound. There is no substitute for a live performance; it's not a show where the artists crack jokes inbetween songs, it's a non-stop audible experience unreplicatable on CD.

For a more modern glance at their sound, check the iTunes music store for "Something Given" and "Why You."

Still, the album has several amazingly excellent tracks; it is one of a handful of albums I can listen to without skipping any. The musicianship here extends beyond crafting individual tracks and extends into inviting you, the listener, into a jarring, unmistakable story. Don't miss it. Buy the disc.

Holy god this is SUCH A GREAT CD!

I found this group when listening to an Mp3 station by the band Farewell to Kings. The first song was Every Day which blew me away. After going to OMNIs site and listening to the other songs I bought the CD and found the entire CD to reveal astounding musicianship -- simple, complex, dark, light, raw, refined. It grabs you and won't let you go. Listening is like finding something you desperately were seeking but didn't even know it existed until it hits you square in the face.
