Jasmine has done it once again! I have to say that their releases have always exceeded my expectations and this 4-CD box set is no different. The wonderful thing about the Jasmine label is that instead of including the same tired tracks you will find on any other compilation, they go out of their way to unearth rare, long-forgotten about tunes. No, you won't find Hank Williams, Kitty Wells or Jimmie Rogers on this set - but you will instead find Cole Wilson, Rosalie Allen, Elton Britt and Buddy Williams. Never heard of em? Well buy this set and see what you've been missing! This was produced by Paul Hazell, the king of vintage country, and no one knows their stuff like Paul - you can always count on him to introduce you to vintage artists you've never heard of but should have. There are some great yodeling tracks on here too and the selection of performers covers the gamut from the USA to Canada to New Zealand, Australia and beyond! And the quality is generally excellent all around, especially considering the age and rarity of the material. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Volume 2 - c'mon Paul, we all know you haven't even put a dent in your 78 collection!
