About the Artist
Buddy Greene is a disarming host with an engaging sense of humor...an acoustic guitar...a travel case full of harmonicas...a compelling voice...and an easy-going batch of songs that, in a disarming way, speaks to the reality - the highs and lows, victories and defeats, challenges and opportunities - of daily life.

As a young boy in Macon, GA, he learned to play folk songs on a ukelele, then graduated to the guitar. Soon a band with neighborhood friends - Buddys Buddies - was formed and he quickly developed a flair for entertaining. His early musical influences included The Beatles, Elvis Presley, the Motown rhythm & Blues artists of the late 60s and The Allman Brothers Band, which led his to explore many of the pioneers of bluegrass, folk, blues and country music.

Buddys music and personality to the confidence, humility and joy born of an on-going relationship with Jesus Christ. Hes been inmfluenced by by many Christian thinkers including C. S. Lewis, J.I. Packer, Jack Miller, and Dr. Steve Brown as well as many faithful brothers and sisters who stand with him, his wife Vicki, and their two young daughters Erin and Georgeanna, in their family life and ministry.

Out of his life experiences and influences both personally and musically, has grown a heart for ministry unique to Buddy Greene: combining entertainment, humor, musical excellence and a desire to cross boundries of every kind with the Gospel. His recordings to date, including the Gospel Music Associations Dove Award winning Sojourners Song, all reveal his passion to communicate the good news of forgiveness, salvation and grace through life in Christ as it relates to the daily of our lives.

Over the past decade, Buddys career as a performer, singer-songwriter and instrumentalist has grown dramatically. As a songwriter, he has teamed up with Gloria Gaither, Bruce Carroll, Tricia Walker and Mark Lowry among others. With Mark, he wrote the Dove-nominated Best Song Of 1992, Mary, Did You Know? which quickly became a Christmas standard and continues to grow in popularity with recordings by well-know performers including Kenny Rogers, Kathy Mattea, Wynonna Judd, The Gaither Vocal Band, international diva Kathleen Battle and guitarist Christopher Parkening, Kathie Lee Gifford, Metropolitan Opera artist Jeffrey Wells , and co-writer Mark. .

Product Description
Buddy Greene CHRISTMAS/ Not Just Any Night brings the fresh, beautiful playing and singing of Buddy Greene, with his very talented Nashville friends, to consider - in an engaging variety of sounds and style - the real Christmas story. Features the Mark Lowry- Buddy Greene classic Christmas song, Mary, Did You Know. A word from Buddy Greene

Ive always wanted to produce a Christmas album. I sort of like the idea of working thematically and, for me - one who believes that Jesus is the Messiah, the only Son Of God, come to earth to preach good news to the poor and set the captives free - there is no better theme than His birth and the advent of His kingdom.

Christians today tend to be very predictable, but not Jesus. He arrived in a very unlikely fashion. He was born to poor parents in an animal stable - a feed trough for a bed - in an obscure little town called Bethlehem. His birth did not go unnoticed. A remarkably diverse cross-section of humanity became aware of this amazing child: a rag tag group of shepherds, mysterious gift-ladened foreigners from the East and a mad and murderous king who somehow knew this baby-monarch was a very real threat to the kingdoms of this world.

Jesus was always unpredictable. He astounded the teachers at the temple at age twelve (not to mention worrying and embassasing his parents.) He turned water into wine. He began a ministry at age thirty which he would complete, three years later, nailed to a Roman cross, vilified and crucified by the religious status quo and the political powers vainly trying to rid themselves of this upstart, radical teacher-healer who made himself out to be God.

He kept bad company, told stories of a kingdom not of this world, loved the poor and incited the religious. He attracted children and whores and vagabonds and braggarts and little lonely people - rich and poor alike. He forgave them of all their sins.

Finally, He paid for their sins and your sins and my sins.

No, that was not just any night...and, not just any baby. It was the night when God himself entered human history, became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood.

It was the night the angels sang and, from that night on, people and angels have continued to sing and play and dance and work to the glory of this God: the God who is with us and in us and for us. This One who, though rich, yet for our sakes became poor so that we through His poverty might become rich.

What a night! What a baby! The amazing, unpredictable, loving God...come to earth with us. His name is Jesus.
