About the Artist
Mike Asquino's career started as a dream,as he boarded a Grayhound bus from the Ocean State of Rhode Island to New York City in the early 70's.

While playing in Greenwich Village at night, he made the rounds during the day trying to sell his songs to music publishing companies and record labels. While working in a N.Y. ad agency he met Directors Group Producer, Johnny Ercole.

Mr. Ercole produced National T.V.& Radio commercials. The relationship lasted many years and included such commercials as "Your Public Library" spots. "Girls" a song for the President's Council on Physical Fitness and "The Eveready Battery spots, which are still shown today.

Mike along with other writers, wrote, sang and played on various national commercials, such as "Coke Adds Life", "Prell Shampoo", The NBC Fall Themes, "Bumble Bee Tuna", "The Pepsi Generation", "Total Cereal".

With songwriting partner, George Robinson, he released a few singles in the 70's and continued to write and perform. Mike was the opening act for many national celebrities and charitable causes. Due to the change in the entertainment industry he retired from performing.

With the encouragement of family and friends he has begun to sing and perform again.

This new release of "She Believes In Me" is the rebirth of a talented singer, songwriter , who still believes being able to share life's experiences through music and song are the dreams of any songwriter.

"She Believes in Me" was a pleasant surprise and easily deserves 5 stars. It was so good, that I had to find out who this artist is and if he had other music available. After a little research, it turns out that Mike Asquino has over 30 gold records under various stage names, and has musical roots with John Denver, Harry Chapin, Jim Croce, Bob Dylan and Peter-Paul&Mary. He has played with a virtual who's who of musicans from Simon and Garfunkle to Sinatra. (...). This CD is definitely worth the money. *****

This album is a great work by Mike Asquino! It's good to hear such great "Americana" style music still flowing from former greats like him. The version of "She Believes In Me" not only rivals the original Kenny Rogers' rendition, but in this release it blows it away with his brand of sincere delivery and great vocals!
The perfomances are top notch and the CD flows well from song to song. You may not recognize every cut, but they all have quality appeal. This is just the kind of good radio programming our world needs to hear more of again. Good family and friends kind of music. It's fun for all, but don't take my word for it, put it in your cart and have a listen for yourself. You'll be glad you did. I know I am!

Listening to Mike Asquino's "new" album was like entering a timewarp back to the early '80's when I first heard it. I played it nonstop on my tiny Fisher Price record player usually reserved for Beatle albums and my mom's old 45's. Before revisiting it, I thought I had listened to it as a child solely because I personally knew Mike Asquino...he lived right down the road from us. 20 years later, I realize that familiarity can only maintain a kid's interest to a point, and that somewhere quality has to enter the picture. That's why the CD is currently playing nonstop on my Aiwa system (certainly an upgrade from Fisher Price). "She Believes in Me" is a [darn] good album. Its easygoing country feel is highlighted by "American Cowboy", "Sailing Ship Majestic" and "Dancing In the Firelight (And Dying in the Flame)". From first note to last, you will feel as though you're sitting relaxing in Asquino's New Canaan, CT duplex with a beer in your hand...enjoying good music and good company. It's a rare album that creates a nostalgic sense of longing for a better world in a better time.
