"Rhyme + Reason" Soundtrack.......2005-07-16
The soundtrack to Peter Spirer's compelling documentary, "Rhyme & Reason" makes a worthwhile companion piece to the film. While many of the artists on the soundtrack may not be as well known to today's music crowd, the music contained within this album is truly something special. Mack 10's collaboration with Tha Dogg Pound on "Nothin' But The Cavi Hit" is an excellent introduction to the album with Kurupt ripping the mic apart behind a hard beat courtesy of Daz. Likewise, Busta's energy on "Wild Hot" guest starring A Tribe Called Quest is absolutely bonkers. "Uni-4-orm" featuring Canibus, Ras Kass, and Heltah Skeltah is probably my favorite song on the soundtrack as future Horsemen partners, Ras and Canibus just kill it. KRS-One's "Bring It Back" is another banger with Kris bring his usual charisma to the table. Also worth checking out are E-40's "Every Year" and The RZA's "Tragedy". Master P's "Is There Heaven 4 A Gangsta?" is one of the few misses as P drops some rather lackluster rhymes over an obnoxious chorus. It proves to be the "pothole in the road" in an otherwise smooth ride of entertaining 90's rap anthems.

Rhyme & Reason.......2004-12-08
This album seems to have almost everyone. The tracks might of not made the local radio stations but the album was nice. It has a great blend of east and west coast styles. I'm just amazed this one didn't pop off as well as it should of. Pick it up if you get the chance.
A must for rap addicts.......1998-12-12
This album combines the best of east/west coast with artists such as RZA, MC Eight, KRS-ONE Busta Rhymes, E40, ect. While a couple tracks are weak, most are bangin, such as Tragedy and Represent. Basically, this is a great compilation album that is worth getting!

Customer Reviews:
Masterpiece.......2006-08-22
The other 'R & R' reviews posted here are eloquent in their praise, and I can only concur... However, I would like to emphasize that, indeed, for its time, this album was uncommonly unique, so much so that perhaps only the artistically inclined or avant-garde seemed to 'get it.' Everything about this album was to be different from Spring Session M, MP's debut effort. From the extraordinary Helmut Netwon photography (particulary Dale Bozzio's mesmerizing cover portrait) to the elegant liner notes, through to the video collaborations with Simon Milne, Peter Heathe and legendary pop artist Peter Max -- Rhyme is a masterpiece, ahead of its time and soaring with grand compositions that deserve repeat plays, again and again. A must buy, no doubt about it.
Lost masterpiece.......2005-12-19
What a shame this album is out of print again. While the technology inherent on any MP album may sound a little out of date now, the musicianship still shines. Lyrically, the introspective tracks like The Closer You Get and If Only For the Moment ring VERY true for anyone who grew up with big dreams only to be disappointed. A very grown up album.
Missing Persons - Their Best Work.......2004-05-14
When this album came out all those years ago, it was so far ahead of its time people didn't know what to say or think. Was it Pop? New Wave? Hard Rock? Jazz? The band members were such exceptional musicians, and so original in their approach. I honestly think it was too much for most to appreciate.
Anyway, this CD is unbelievably good. I can't say enough about it. Just add it to your collection - don't even think twice.
I LOVE THESE MISSING PERSONS!!!.......2004-05-10
If I was a missing person I'd be the lead singer because I love singing. I think she is pretty. And the boys, WHAT HUNKS!!! I wish I could marry one, but I can't. Anway, this CD was the best!! I think everyone should buy it!! Good bye, persons!
Handiwipes for the smile on your seat.......2003-11-05
Wow, never thought I would find this again. Too Good. Relaxs and excites, kool blast from Reagan Years. Give it a listen. Good Stuff.

After Many Years this Star Still Shines! .......2007-01-04
I finally received "Without Rhyme or Reason" and it is still a great masterpiece! WHUR in Washington D.C. always played "The Image of You" during the "Quiet Storm" and I never got tired of hearing it. I totally agree with one of the reviews, "It is one of the most beautiful ballads ever" - and - may I add, ranks in the top ten ballads of all time! My only disappointment is - not the album(s), but I wished Scott had pursued more of a contemporary and traditional jazz direction on his last project. His blend of styles (George Benson, Earl Klugh, James Taylor, and Michael Franks) on the Without Rhyme or Reason and The Gift of Thirst project(s) is simply amazing! Scott can come from many different directions: jazz, pop, R&B, and folk. However, I'd hoped his last album had more of a solid jazz flavor with a touch of R&B. Maybe an instrumental (displaying his guitar virtuosity)or two with his keyboard extraordinaire brother Keith Jarrett. If Scott had pursued more of a jazz path he would have been - without a doubt - a lot more successful! Ironically, Scott will probably end up being the most famous of his musical clan because of this one tune - "The Image of You". Throughout history there has always been one song that was either an anathema or blessing to an artist because of its exceptionalism! "Thriller" was a curse to Michael Jackson because he was never able to overcome it! "Pachelbel Cannon in D Major" also comes to mind. Let's hope this is not the case for Scott Jarrett. "The Image of You" can either doom or propel Mr. Jarrett. I believe it is the latter because Scott is a genius with exceptional musical ability! And - of course - it doesn't hurt being from a family that is a musical juggernaut! Either case, Scott has carved out his place in history! All in all, Scott Jarrett is a tremendous talent and you will not be disappointed in any of his music! Btw, "Pictures", "Without Rhyme or Reason", and "Doctor/Nurse" are my favorites! Also, give his new ablum "The Gift of Thirst" a try! You won't regret it! Thanks Amazon for making this CD available! It is amazing that this "Masterpiece" is not available on ITUNES.
Great soothing music.......2006-02-08
There's nothing like this project. The Image of You is probably one of the best songs ever!
The Softest, most relaxing song ever!!!!!.......2005-11-15
The song "Image Of You" has got to be the most beautiful balled ever. This song alone is worth any price being sold for.
Finally Found This Jewel.......2005-03-25
Just received this cd from you today through the mail. I've been looking for one particular song for a very long time, "The Image Of You". WHUR played it last week during their Cafe Lunch Special; I called the station; found out it was by Scott Jarrett. The album is out of print but AMAZON saved the day. The album is excellent. It is very inspirational and airy with a strong jazz flavor. In addition to "The Image of You", I liked "Pictures" and "I was a Fool". The featured artists along with Scott Jarrett were great.

Customer Reviews:
This voice reminds me of Joe Williams!!!.......2003-04-16
I've seen Dennis Rowland on a few TV specials over the past few years, and he is simply AMAZING!!! His vocal stylings are unique, and he reminds me of Joe Williams when he's singing the blues or jazz-oriented standards.
Recently, I bought his first two CDs at a bargain - and I'm happy that I did...this one in particular has superb song selection, and a knockout combo. It's great that Dennis joined forces with his one-time Basie bandmate, Gregg Field, who served as album producer and drummer. Let's hope that he releases some new material in the near future.
Dennis Rowland's voice is truly music to the ears!!.......1999-08-18
Whether he's singing a beautiful jazz ballad or shouting the blues, Dennis Rowland is without a doubt one of the greatest living singers today. His deep lush tones are reminiscent of Joe Williams, and his control and expression are exquisite!! In this day and age of popular singers who are so over-commercialized that they ignore the feeling and the beauty of the human voice, Dennis Rowland is a pleasure to hear regardless of the type of music you like lilstening to.I only wish there were more singers like him.
Dennis Rowland is a well-kept secret. He's great........1998-12-21
Whether you're a fan of the sounds of men like Johnny Hartman, Nat King Cole and Tony Bennett, or the up-tempo style of Bobby Darin, You'll love Dennis Rowland. Living here in Phoenix I have the opportunity to see him live on occasion and his range is incredible. He sang with Count Basie's orchestra for the last few years of the Count's life, and handles those classics with ease as well as collaborations with current masters like Joe Sample.
Check it out!

A unique work of beauty.......2006-01-07
It would seem that a CD that covers such a broad range would feel disconnected, but that's not the case at all. Nash and his band go from modern compositions with a string quartet to straight-ahead jazz that moves to the outside. Perhaps Nash's best, and certainly worth listening to.
Great writing and great playing..........2000-06-14
I have admired Ted Nash for several years for his work with Lincoln Center Jazz. Here, he proves to be a composer of note. Strings and jazz band blend beautifully. Ted plays with beautiful tone throughout -- although I miss the alto playing. I look forward to more work from Mr. Nash. I give it four stars simply because five must be reserved for recordings such as Far East Suite, Kind of Blue, etc.

Album Description
Ever since Chicago musician Dan Nicky invented the international rock band known as Aman, he's found it hard to play solo in the Windy City. Nicky's collaboration with foreign artists complements his strong lyric writing abilities, leading to the distinctive rock music of Aman's debut CD, Rhyme for Reason. Rhyme for Reason isn't only about rock- the Indonesian, Afghan and Tunisian artists who contributed to the CD also showcase their talents on their native instruments. By transcending musical and cultural boundaries, these artists send a powerful message of international cooperation through exotic world music and creative rock and roll.
