10 novelty songs by Cash.......2003-09-20

The Man in Black recorded many funny songs throughout his long career and this disc contains some of the best. From "Smiling Bill McCall" a hit from 1960 to "The Chicken in Black" from 1984. You'll laugh your head off. The title "Crazy Country" is exactly what this is. Johnny was better known for his serious songs but this disc proves he had a fantastic sense of humor. His death on September 12th, 2003 at 71 was very sad news but his music will live on and on.

If you don't love this CD than you don't love rock'a'billy. Two hard to find classic albums on one disc for your pleasure. I've owned both these albums on vinyl while growing up in the early eighties and know they are expensive when found.This guy wasn't riding on any waves and was putting out these classice between the different rock'a'billy resurges.Classic vocals on two classic albums.

This includes two of rockabilly revivalist Robert Gordon's finest lp's reissued onto one great cd. Energetic and fun rockabilly songs, they sound authenticly like 1950's rock'n'roll! Great cd, great artist.

Another great collection of Rock 'n' Roll, Texas style.......1999-11-21

A fine collection from the master. Buddy Holly presents a number of the songs that have made him forever regarded as one of the founders of rock'n'roll as well as the basis of most modern music. A surprise inclusion in this collection is "That's My Desire", a fairly rare track much sought after by collectors over the years. The plane crash left this track as an unfinished performance as it stopped him from going back to finish it to his satisfaction. It is however a gem in its own right and indicates the high standards Buddy set for himself to know he was still not happy with it. If for no other reason, the collection is worth the price for this track alone, however "Early In The Morning" "Blue Days, Black Nights" and other tracks make this CD a positive steal at the price.

Carl's Country.......2007-02-15

I've always been a fan of Carl Perkins' Rockabilly, but this CD covers his foray into the country music scene...shortly after the death of rockabilly and the intro of the Beatles. In all honesty, I think Carl tried a little too hard, and throughout this album, seems compelled to remind the listener that he is Country. While nearly every single track on this 30-track CD is good, a few of the numbers seem a little strained. Personally, I'd have preferred to have seen Carl hit the Country Music scene just as unapologetically as Jerry Lee did. Now, with that said, Carl can play and sing rings around Jerry Lee; and truth of the matter is, around many of the so-called Country musicians of that era of the sickening Nashville Sound. This is a very good album, but just dont expect the effortless smoothness that Carl provided with his rock-n-roll sound....keep in mind, this a new sound for him. This is a Bear Family release; one of their few single-CD albums! A great set of liner notes and recording session info is provided. A Very Good album and well worth a listen.

An outstanding collection of Carl's country recordings.......2003-10-14

Carl Perkins is truly one of the all time greatest legends of rock and roll, but he was also a fine country singer. These recordings show Carl at his very best and his version of Detroit City is so beautiful. I can't tell you how much Bear Family means to me. They have made some outstanding CD's and box sets over the years and this is one of the best. I highly recommend it for all Perkins fans or even country fans.
