About the Artist
Little Jewford is the last surviving member of the original band Kinky Friedman and The Texas Jewboys. He was Kinky's sidekick, keyboard player and vocalist from 1973-1976. After taking a much-needed sabbatical to translate Beowulf he has returned to touring with Kinky while also performing solo. Kinky Friedman, Brent Spiner and The Cornell Hurd Band appear on the show (CD) as special guests.

Product Description
Live From Uranus is a live recording, from the Sphincter Studios in Uranus, Texas, of the 20-year anniversary of Little Jewford's Live From Uranus comedy variety show. 4 out of 5 stars More Music, Less Talk.......2005-02-05

I love MoAM. They're by far my favorite surf band and listening to them live is a treat. But on this album, while the music is unbelievably good, the back and forth between the band members is horrible.

You can't hear them talk and when you can, they're talking over each other. This is a case where less is more. The bit about dogs and cats being able to hear them sing would be funny if it didn't take three tries to get it out.

Still, awesome music if you can put up with some less-than-witty banter.

5 out of 5 stars The closest you get to a real MoAM? show.......2000-11-14

Man or Astro-Man? are incredible live performers, and you realize it listening to this album. The goofy enthusiasm of Coco and the pure surf power of Starcrunch's ultra-reverbed guitar are what made this band great. The *real* MoAM? can be heard on Cowboy Playing Bomboro -- Starcrunch plays so tight and so fast, my jaw hit the floor the first time I heard this track. Birdstuff is a punk-rock freak of nature as usual on the drums, and Coco's bass comes through better on this album than in most others.

Live Transmissions from Uranus is a must-have for any fan of modern surf rock, and the best document of MoAM? before they lost Brian Causey.

5 out of 5 stars best live album ever.......2000-03-06

The best live album I've ever heard. Completely live, uncut: they leave in all the dialogue between songs. Check out their deep Space accents. Amazing performance, amazing sound

4 out of 5 stars Cool Live Album.......2006-02-27

This album is cool. It's a little short, but has some really cool songs from Less Than Jake's early releases, Losing Streak, Pezcore, and Goodbye Blue and White. It's really not a must have, so you have to make the call on whether you want to add it to your collection. I would recommend buying "The People's History of Less Than Jake." It's a DVD with most of those songs on it and it's cooler because you can watch it too.

5 out of 5 stars a great live album!.......2002-10-11

Less Than Jake - Live From Uranus was recorded live in New York in 1997. It has now been put onto CD and is really good. It has great songs on it such as Liquor Store, Automatic, Just Like Frank and Time And A Half On 2nd Avenue And 6th Street. Don't let the price put you off because it's definitely worth it. A must buy for all LTJ CD collectors!

5 out of 5 stars a Great Bootleg.......1999-04-18

One of the best bootlegs to date by LTJ... Capitol records did a great thing with it... although i recommend not buying it since you can get the MP3s for free.

1 out of 5 stars Gets old real quick........2005-09-03

Want to know how many Uranus jokes you can pack into one CD? Then buy this--otherwise, avoid it like the plague. Little Jewford wears out his welcome real quick, and even the arrival of Kinky Friedman (the next governor of the great state of Texas) can't rescue this ill-advised project.

5 out of 5 stars An underrated gem from Kinky Friedman's better half..........2004-11-01

If you are a fan of irreverant humor and a unique, radio-show style presentation, this is the album for you (as an aside, one thing that jumps out immediately is the fact that Little Jewford's surprisingly rich speaking voice deserves regular work as a voice-over artist in Hollywood and at the very least, a career in radio. It is truly remarkable).

The run-time of the CD is listed as 67 minutes and that's exactly what you get...67 minutes of genuinely funny, raucous, bawdy entertainment from a talented musician/comedian/kazoo-ologist who deserves at the very least the right to represent Uranus at the next NATO summit.

I wish Little Jewford would write a book. This guy is funny.
