Customer Reviews:
Really funny, as always.......2004-04-05
Dave, the song "Party Doll" is not a parody, but is simply him singing Buddy Knox's song in the voice of Bill Clinton. The lyrics are the same as they were when the song was released in 1958! Considering how censors were in the 1950s, the song is incredibly mild by today's standards.
Not just a one trick pony.......2003-04-30
However, in a lot of ways this volume is already dated. The Al Gore vs George W Bush parodies are funny, and the spoof of Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby" rap song "Vice Vice Baby" is great. But you will still enjoy "Harass is the Word" and "Can't fit the Cradle" for many years.
This is not Shanklin's best CD set, but it is still a most have if you're the conservative person into music parodies. You'd think that wouldn't be a large market, but apparently Shanklin makes enough to get by. And one more thing, Liberals, I wouldn't recommend this CD.
But for the sexual jokes, this CD is hilarious!.......2003-03-11
Quality remixes of older songs, with, of course, new lyrics poking fun at the crew, will keep you laughing for as long as you play it. I'd say that my favorite track is traak 32, Please Fill Out Your Census. Seeing as how my Dad used to listen to John Denver songs, this is hilarious. (By the way, that's a thing about these CD's...if you know more old songs, you'll appreciate the clever re-singing that Shanklin does)
One note: this would even be funny for youngsters, but Shanklin does throw in some inevitable jokes about Clinton's party life...
Track 33, "Party Doll" has Clinton singing about his party doll that he'll make love to. And the final track, Who Wants to Be a President # 2 has Gore calling Clinton as his lifeline, and Clinton is obviously in a heated party with a girl, who giggles and chases him around. It's too bad they have to stick that kind of stuff on there...funny, yes, but still unwarranted. Otherwise, the whole album is worth buying!
As the album says, "Warning! This album contains parodies!"
Note: When and if you buy this CD, there is a sort-of Easter Egg at the end: the last track, track 34, if you keep listening after the Who Wants to be a President # 2 track ends, keep listening, or perhaps forward it a little. At time 4:08, there is a small play on NPR radio, a skit by Paul Shanklin. It sounds as if it was something they messed around with (as evidenced by the guy you can hear laughing in the background), an impromptu skit in the studio, and then decided to put on the album.
Hilarious!.......2001-01-11
