Editorial Reviews
The guy who was banned in Boston, condemned in Cleveland and banished from Baltimore is back and like the title of his new album says is "Still Kickin Butt".
Ronnie Haigs 1958 hit "Dont You Hear Me Calling Baby" supposedly contained the nastiest of all nasty words in the last 18 seconds of the song (it absolutely did not!), which brought him notoriety in the Rock N Roll world years before the Kingsmen were accused of putting supposedly dirty lyrics in a song which actually had none.
Ronnie gives us the answer to that legendary hit on his new album with the very first song "Didnt You Hear Me Calling Baby" even reprising those infamous last 18 seconds though this time there is no doubt that the answer, just like the original, contains no obscenity whatsoever.
That song and the rest of the album also showcases Haigs incredible guitar work, and hes still playing that same Gibson ES295 that he bought in 1957 and, according to Rock N Roll legend, traded licks with Chuck Berry one late night at Chess Studios.
Ronnie also handles most of the other instrumental work on the album as well, and those female backing vocals are done by Ronnies wife, Susie. Even more amazing is the fact that the entire album was recorded, produced and engineered by Ronnie in his own home studio.
Cuts like "I Dont Drive No Cadillac", The Phantom Band" and "The Wrong Side of Town" prove that Ronnie Haig can still rock the socks off any young rocker, while other songs like "You Made A Promise To Me" show off his country side and "When Doo Wop Was Young" pays homage to those street corner groups of years gone by. "All My Friends Are There" and "Tattooed Head To Toe" pay homage to the legends of Rock N Roll, while "Haigs Boogie" is a rocking instrumental.
All in all the album just goes to prove one thing and ultimately one thing only, that after all these years Rockabilly Hall of Famer, Ronnie Haig is "Still Kickin Butt."

Customer Reviews:
Took me right back to the '50s.......2006-10-30
For years I've tried to find these recordings on CD to no avail. A few months ago I did a search on Amazon for Ronnie Haig and came back with STILL KICKIN' BUTT. This CD could not have been more aptly named - because that is exactly what he does on these recordings. I put this CD in my car stereo and played it everywhere I went for the next month. The first few times I was just blown away by the intensity of the great Rockabilly/Rock 'n' Roll guitar music - I didn't ever care about the words - the music was so powerful.
After a few plays I started really listening to the words themselves - the memories they evoked brought tears to my eyes more than once. If you grew up in the fifties and liked Rockabilly then order this CD today - you won't regret it. Every song tells a story, not just some silly rock jibberish that happens to rhyme. You get a sense that this CD is really Ronnie Haig's life story as well as a history lesson about '50s Rock 'n' Roll - from the opening song "Didn't You Hear Me Calling Baby" (a follow-up to his first hit) to "The Ballad Of Ronnie Haig" to the last song "Tattooed Head To Toe."
After a line in one song where he mentions We're still doing the Bop in 2002, I am guessing that the songs were recorded within the last few years, well after Ronnie had turned 60. He just gets better with age and can still hold his own with the best of 'em. God Bless you Ronnie and thank you for the most awesome CD I have heard in many years!
