On Music for Two, banjo wizard Béla Fleck and stand-up bass maestro Edgar Meyer effortlessly sail through a challenging program that includes compositions by Bach, a sonata by Henry Eccles, a Miles Davis tune, and a number of self-composed finger twisters. The amazing thing about this varied selection is not its eclecticism--which is only to be expected with these two--but that it all blends together so seamlessly. Fleck's jazz-tinged compositions (like "The Lake Effect") and Meyer's bluegrass-inspired tunes (like "Wishful Thinking") sit so comfortably next to Bach's baroque jewels and Davis's cool jazz that it makes you question the entire of concept of musical classification. (In fact, the Bach preludes, inventions, and partitas translate so well to the banjo/bass arrangements, you have to wonder if old JSB might not have had a bit of bluegrass in his soul.) A Must Have.......2007-04-25

These two really sound good together. If you're not so impressed with the music when you first hear it (I don't know if that's possible), check out the DVD that comes with it. You will gain such an appreciation for the music that's being played. Watch out for the guy making the banjo jokes. This CD is really an incredible work, I can't say it enough. Very relaxing music.

Broad Spectrum Virtuosity.......2007-04-23

This album runs the gamut of styles and genre. It is hard to get bored when a musical turn is but a few notes away. The two musicians integrate their instruments with incredible skill. I hate to give it a four star rating. The music is worth the 5. The loooooong, live applause tracks detract from the album. The asides by the musicians are sometimes hard to hear. Minor aggravations aside,this album plays frequently, very frequently, in our home,car, iPods, etc.

Cool Pairing for Meyer/Fleck Fans.......2007-01-02

I've seen both Edgar Meyer and Bela Fleck live (unfortunately not together) and I really think this album just captures the magic of their live shows: I can almost see them in my living room together! For those not so familiar with the music of one or both the inclusion of classical tunes with those composed by Meyer/Fleck and other contemporary songwriters is a cool drink of water. Music for Two is a good intro to the world of cozy bluegrass.

Virtuosity Knows No Musical Boundaries.......2006-10-22

Béla Fleck & Edgar Meyer are both extraordinarily accomplished musicians who spend much of their time in very different worlds: Fleck in his newgrass space and Meyer in a more classical mode. But each has travelled in the other's territory before, and on this CD they connect around more genres than you can shake a stick at. In addition to their own compositions they tackle many of their joint favorites. The affection shows in the passion of the playing and the obvious camaraderie. And the accompanying DVD is a treat. Don't miss this one.

Timelessly Delightful.......2007-07-08

Wishful Thinking was the first CD that I purchased after purchasing my first CD player back in the day. At the time, I didn't know anything about Earl Klugh. The selections from this album are as timeless now as they were then. I can listen to it all day long and not tire of it. It's good for thinking and not thinking alike. It is timelessly delightful, much like having an excellent meal with friends.

Incredible.......2006-07-18

Simply incredible. Here are 10 (count 'em...10!) CD's in a single box set covering the father of the Bakersfield Sound. Wynn Stewart, almost singlehandedly, created a genre of Country Music that still stands the test of time, with modern disciples like Heather Myles and Dwight. Here's is the man that Waylon called his favorite singer; who Dwight Yoakam considers one of the finest voices ever; who hired a young Merle Haggard as a Bassist; who sang alongside Buck Owens. This box set contains 300 (+/-) songs, as only Bear Family Records could undertake. You cannot be disappointed with this set. Sure, there are some remakes, but the originals are there as well. Personally, I find the 2d Disc to be my favorite, with it's nonstop fiddles and steel guitar; but there are other discs that cover his early (and thankfully short-lived) foray into Rock-n-Roll, as well as those that highlight his take on the Nashville Sound. Wynn's life was cut short, and done so by his own hand......but here's a chance to see what a pioneer and true visionary can accomplish with a little effort. A great Box Set. A++++

For all us hard-country obsessives this box set proves, beyond any doubt, the existence of God. A God, that is, who loves classic Bakersfield country music. Prior to this, there was only one Wynn Stewart compilation CD; while it was very good, it whetted the appetite for this treasure. As with all Bear Family releases, the quality of the packaging is superb. It contains every Wynn Stewart recording, complete session information and 10 CDs of just about the best country music you can find. Stewart has never enjoyed the reputation his music deserves. If that changes as a result of this box set, Bear Family will have done a great thing.

Real Country Music From A True Genius.......2000-06-27

This is such a treasure chest of true country music.The songs wishful thinking playboy and it's such a pretty world today ought to be named national treasures.There is something so special about the way Wynn delivers them.I hope people will finally realize what a magnificent talent he was.This is real Country Music from a true genius. I also hope the country Music Hall of Fame will wakeup and vote this guy in because he sure deserves it.

Hi I have this on c.d. and to the other reviewer .Robert Berberena. this album is available on c.d. I have it. Its on Capitol records . it was put out in 1984. the item # is CDP7 46030 2 . alot of people think that this album was never released on c.d. but it actually was released on c.d. its just very very rare and hard to find these days. This is one of my lifetime favorites, but it has never been available in CD. I still have may acetate copy but don't have a turn-table to play it & record it at least in a cassette. Back in 1983-4 (for some tired reason that I am not aware of) the so called experts did not favor this album and perhaps that is why is not available in CD. However it is an excellent record. My favorite tune is Take it From the Top, but unlike other tunes is not available in any of Klugh's compilations. If you have a CD copy I will like to buy it at the right price. This record is nice and sweet and I knew it complete when I wore teenager clothes.

THIS is not the US-based Jazz-band, BUT a British pop/rock band who had a uge hit in Germany with "Hiroshima"!
Don't mix them up with the American Fusion/Jazz band! Totally different musicians AND musical style!
This is sadly the only CD from them besides a long deleted one called "Live Vol. 1", which was only released in Japan.

Not much I can say about this group, heard them once and I think these contemporary jazz group are far better of than the other styles of performing. Even though where I reside one can't actually get to listen these kind of music. Hearing them once was enough to get a liking towards these kind of jazz band.

I must say, that from what I have heard, they are neat performers, a touch of class.

This is a band that got introduced to me in the eighties when the whole jazz fusion thing exploded in malaysia.
I didn't hear much of them after that period ,but rediscovered them on the net lately and picked up the cd today.
played it once and was convinced this band deserved more recognition for their work.

used to be one of the best l.a club scene fusion band with amazing players who play more then just high level performence music, they play together with a lot of musicality and good taste and choice of notes .the great supporting of the bass and drums section is outstanding especialy jerry watts jr. ,one of the best fusion players in the l.a fusion scene.

i've owned this cd for a while..
being german-american, this cd's very 'german', if you know what i mean....
very danceable. very 80's/new wave..
true.. it is basically like their original cd, but definitely a must have if you like propaganda..
it's basically the same their original cd, mixed differently, or maybe even better..
i like this cd a lot, and it's usually with me when i travel..
i recommend it...

Nothing new.......2000-01-04

I bought the CD waiting for a good mixes of the last songs, but I found a repetitive CD without anything that renew the good songs from 'The Secret Wish'. Simply, I'm waiting much more from this CD. It's not bad, but if you have 'The Secret Wish', youd don't need this one.

A great re-mix.......1999-12-08

This is a re-mix of the famous "Secret Wish" album. Typical for the mid-80s and well ahead of its time. If you have "Secret Wish", don't expect any big surprises; however, it is mixed in the sense of usual dance singles, so you will get a lot of the original rhythm pure. Having almost all CDs, vinyls and singles by Propaganda, I often prefer this album over the original because it's more dance-oriented and gives me new energy when I need it.

It's been a while since I bought the album, and I can still listen to it and enjoy it. The texts are somewhat offbeat, the rythm is cool and in general this album defined a new age of music before the term was invented
