Excellent!.......2006-03-13

Jean-Paul Vest is a seriously underrated musical prodigy, an uncanny mixture of intelligent lyrics and gorgeous guitar playing. Over the years he's been shocking audiences with great music in disappearing or just plain gone LES and East Village standards like Brownie's, Nightingale's, CB's. (remember when Manhattan used to mean something? Now its all Brooklyn, Brooklyn, Brooklyn). Now he's back, with a new band.

Don't know Jean-Paul? Where have you been? At times you'd think he's Johnny Marr possessed by the spirit of Hank Williams Sr. Last Charge is his new band with solid drums and bass performers (backup vocals reminds one of David Bowie's great Man Who Sold the World). Getaway Car is their first album, a terrific gem with awesome standouts that you can't get out of your head- Cartwheeling, Miracle, Now You Know, The King is Dead. An old classic is back- Circles. Mouthwatering guitarwork. Get it and you'll have it in your CD player for weeks.

Good album, but not as good as the first.......2005-12-15

I absolutely loved 4Runner's first album, so I couldn't wait for this one to arrive in my mailbox. The first album I give at least 4 out of 5 stars on every song, but I can't say the same about Getaway Car. Of course, I think it would be very difficult to compare any album with the first, but this may sum it up... The song House At The End Of The Road is on both albums, and the first is a much better production with better background music. I give 3 out of 5 stars for Getaway Car and 5+ stars for their debut album. The best song on this album may compare to the average song on the other.

This group is amazing! It is a shame that they aren't around anymore to continue producing incredible stuff like this. Getaway Car is the best song on this album.

4Runner's Getaway Car a Runaway Hit.......2004-08-03

You may ask, who is 4Runner? You may remember them as the country music group that several years ago had a big hit with the song entitled Cain's Blood. The group made of, now, three very talented vocalists; Craig Morris, Lee Hillard, and Michael Lusk. I say "now three vocalists", after just recently finding that Jim Chapman has made the decision to resign from 4Runner

"After much thought and prayer", stated Jim... "I have decided to end my career with the boys of 4Runner. It simply has become time for me to pursue other interests. Over the years, Mike, Lee, and Craig have become some of my very best friends. Friends we shall remain. We have weathered the ups and downs of the music business together; and in our personal lives, we have shared both happiness and tragedy. I soon will be involved in the Children's Book Industry as an illustrator for an Enture Series of books. My wife and I are also looking into ways to pursue our dream of someday going back to China to work in the orphanages. I will always remain a 4Runner fan!"

When Angry Country last caught up with 4Runner, as a matter of fact, it was during Fan Fair 2003... Stopping by their booth that was set up in the convention center, I asked them "Why the absence from the Nashville music scene?" Like so many of the artists, they had also faced record label problems. And like many of the artists that are faced with the decision of chasing down a music career or feeding their families, it came down to simply family came first!

What is so sad for me personally is the decision of Jim Chapman to leave 4Runner, although I certainly understand that sometimes life takes you in a different direction... I say this only because 4Runner's new album Getaway Car is an album that showcases their talent and should put them right back at the top of the country music charts. Once again, I just find it disheartening that the Nashville country music business is so fickle that it lets great groups like that of 4Runner sit around for so long that it takes groups like this time to rebuilt what was already a great career. My only hope is that 4Runner will weather yet another up and down and forge onward, despite having a group member leave. Look for their new Forrest County Line video which is on rotation on Great American Country (GAC.)
