Editorial Reviews
Retro Pop Country band the goldbrickers are a group of young music professionals in the Los Angeles area who had forgotten their initial reasons for entering the music business in the first place - to have fun playing original music in front of a crowd.
Fronted by Indiana native Nicole Govert-Daspit with her relaxed, inviting, and unaffected singing style and led by Bob Daspit, studio ace and world-class guitarist featured in hit action films The Rock, Broken Arrow, Face Off, and others; the goldbrickers are a new band that is turning heads and bringing a breath of fresh air to town. (Shadowband Review, 11/27/99)
Surprisingly, Nicole had never sung until the formation of the goldbrickers. She worked as a studio manager booking gigs for high profile musicians and actors such as Ofra Haza, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kevin Kline, and Val Kilmer. Nicole met Bob after coordinating a film recording session with him and guitar legend Duane Eddy.
Bob overheard Nicole singing a country tune and convinced her to get on the other side of the microphone and pursue a recording career. The two started writing songs, got hitched along the way, and ultimately formed the goldbrickers. Bob was happy to lend his own guitar talents, along with those of some other pro musician friends Christopher Tyng, Scott Schirle, Glenn Stiglic, and newcomer Rob Hoffman.
Members of the goldbrickers all have a deep respect for American musical styles that had gone unexpressed in their professional careers and had been looking for an outlet. Bobs reverence for early masters of the Tele and Strat could now find a way to be expressed through his own unique vision of guitar-slinging.
Audiences appreciate the goldbrickers dedication to music combined with a relaxed living room type atmosphere. With all of their live shows bringing a warm and enthusiastic crowd response the goldbrickers continue to take their fun, fresh approach to American music into the millenium.
