Warmth in Cold Weather.......2003-03-11

I'm in Minnesota and it's cold. I just got my Ron Kearns CD and it's HOT. I saw him live here in St. Paul and asked him how he got something new out of the old standards he put on the CD and he said that he tried to put as much of himself into each song as possible. It works. There wasn't really a lot of difference hearing him live than on the CD. It sounded like they were having fun on the CD and the pictures inside showed them laughing but live, they made you enjoy what they were doing becasue you could tell they did. I LOVE this CD.

Ron Kearns and Buck Hill--great combination!.......2003-02-21

Buck Hill is one of my favorite saxophone players. I wasn't familiar with Ron Kearns until this recording. I heard them together on the radio playing Blue Train and loved it. Once I got the CD I found out that I loved Ron Kearns, Ken Reed and Eric Byrd almost as much as I love Buck Hill. I hope they'll be coming to the Chicago area soon (my Mom lives in Maryland and that's where I first heard Buck Hill and this recording). I highly recommend this to anyone who likes old style acoustic jazz.

I love this CD ! If your a true Country Music fan, this CD is a must ! It's traditional Country.

Slim's 100th album is a corker!.......2000-09-19

An amazing effort - 100 albums for the one record company!

This album maintains Slim's unique country style, whilst still managing to incorporate some of the 'new' country sound into his music.

Matilda No More - the duet with another great Aussie talent Kasey Chambers, laments the fact that Australia has lost a lot of its innocence. A great song.

Other highlights are A Bad Days Fishing ("beats a good day's work everytime" - a great lyric that). Port Augusta, written by Steve Grace, is another great tune.
