All that's right with modern country and all that's wrong with modern country in one cellophane wrapper. You can't deny the current roster of talented, enthusiastic, and charismatic performers. On the other hand, the omnipresent rock beats and slick production seem to indicate a lack of trust in the talent. As a result, artists with a less-polished approach--BR5-49, Patty Loveless, Lee Roy Parnell--stand apart from the pack. Choosing material in modern Nashville is also a crapshoot, as evidenced by lines such as: "Going through the Big D, I don't mean Dallas / I can't believe what the judge had to tell us / I got the jeep and she got the palace." Or "Joined a cult, joined the Klan, on the road with Pearl Jam / buried with the Grateful Dead, came back as a Parrothead." Of course, this is a danceable party album, so maybe we should take Trace Adkins's advice: "This ain't no thinkin' thing." --Marc Greilsamer

4 out of 5 stars Ultimate Country Party.......2007-01-16

A more upbeat album than some of the more recent collections in this series

4 out of 5 stars A Good Sample........2005-09-03

Not having a background in Country music, I was looking for something that would sample recent trends in the genre for a party I was having. I must say the playlist is a lot of fun and many of the tracks are clever and witty, both musically and lyrically. We all had a good time.

4 out of 5 stars Ultimate Country Party.......2005-08-05

I am a Country fan so enjoyed this CD very much it flows into each track well. Good listening for dancing or driving in the car.

5 out of 5 stars Rockin Country CD.......2002-12-01

I'm not a big country music fan, but one of my kids got this as a gift and after listening once we were hooked. This is an awesome collection of getcha goin feel good country tunes. Our 1st one started skipping from so much use, we've been looking all over for a replacement. I'll buy 2 just in case!

4 out of 5 stars A great boot-scootin country mix!.......2000-11-27

I love collecting compilation CDs, but I don't buy very many because most fail to meet my expectations. I bought this one for several reasons. One: it contains 18 songs, which is a lot more than most compilations. No skimping on songs here! :) Two: it contains a majority of songs that are fast and truly get you into the toe-tapping, boot-scooting mood. I happen to be a line dancer so I especially like these selections. And finally, I like this CD because it has a good variety of songs from groups as well as solo artists, men as well as women.

My only critique is that some of the transitions between songs were very choppily done, such as one song starting right on the heels of another without a break. The transition between tracks 14 and 15 is the best (worst?) example: they completely cut off the end of Trace Adkins' "This Ain't No Thinkin Thing." But overall, I would definitely recommend this CD to any fans of "hot country" music. You will get lots of enjoyment from it.

5 out of 5 stars Listen All Day Long.......2000-11-04

As an owner of the original Ultimate Country Party CD, I was skeptical when I saw the play list, as to whether this one could live up to the standard set by its predecessor. However, one listen through reveals that YES! it is a great listen. What I love about both albums in particular is that they are mixed so well. This album goes from fast to slower songs with out missing a beat. It makes excellent background music at a party (no need to switch discs), perfect car trip music (for people who can't agree on just one artist), and I love to listen to it at work because the variety of artists keeps me from feeling like I am hearing the same thing over and over again. For ultimate country fans this is a great compilation.

4 out of 5 stars Ultimate Country Party 2.......2000-06-05

I never bought the first one, but this one is definitely a must buy! Ever since I bought it I can't stop listening to it. There were only one or two songs I hadn't heard before, but the rest are popular country songs that will rock any party!

1 out of 5 stars disappointed.......2003-07-14

I am very disappointed w/ this cd because I was under the impression the songs were by original artists. In the description on Amazon it says 'various artists' which in my past experience has meant original artists. This cd reminds me more of a kareoke cd in that these 'various artists' are less than average musicians.

1 out of 5 stars Do not buy.......2003-07-13

Do not buy this CD!! Had there been a review available I would not have purchased it either. The music resembles old C=64 midi, and is off tempo and what few vocals there are are off key. I was aware that it was not original artists, but there was no attempt to cover the originals, or improve upon a good thing. Just poor quality.

1 out of 5 stars Not the original artists.......2001-07-06

Don't get this if you are looking for the original artists. It's electronic and very annoying. A lot a yee haw - literally. As a DJ, I was looking for a CD that had all the songs I needed. This isn't it.
