Album Description

The Simple Twist of Fate CD had its genesis several months ago, when Dave's True Story was invited to play the annual DylanFest at a winery in upstate NY. The assignment was simple--the repertoire must be all-Dylan. The band members (Kelly Flint: vocals, Dave Cantor: guitar, and Jeff Eyrich: standup bass) picked their favorite Dylan songs and went to work on transforming them into the Dave's True Story style. Just before going onstage Dave commented, "either we're going to be tarred, feathered and run out of town for taking liberties, or they're going to love it." The audience apparently loved it, as there were many requests afterward from people to "buy the CD." The band had a great time doing it, so the next week they convened at Bennett Studios in New Jersey and recorded their Dylan program, including "Simple Twist of Fate," "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue," "I Want You," "Just Like a Woman," "You're a Big Girl Now," "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues," and a classic Dave rendition of "If Dogs Run Free."

The material DTS chose to cover here includes some of the very very best Dylan songs. Add a nice voice and some fairly standard pop-jazz arrangements and you have a very nice easy listening CD. Nothing that'll knock your socks off except Bob's lyrics delivered by a lovely voice, with subtle musical backing.

Interesting side project.......2005-12-20

I think this is great-- a nice suprise from the group & Kelly Flint's able to make the
transition to Dylan songs very well. Also nice to hear Dave's more folk side of playing-- with still some nice little jazzy elements. I like all the 'Radio Mix' ones the most I think, & the slightly quickened pace of "Just Like Tom Thumb Blues" is a fine contrast to female covers like Judy Collins or Linda Ronstadt (& her lower voice too is distinctive contrast to them). I don't know if we need three versions of "You're a Big Girl Now," but interesting anyway. If you ever wondered what say, Peggy Lee, might sound like singing Dylan-- here's your chance. Maybe they can do some Joni Mitchell songs next!

What I Always wanted done with Dylan!.......2005-12-08

I have all Dylan's albums. I believe he is the BEST songwriter - bar none.
However his voice is not always what I want to hear!
I have always wanted to hear a "cool chick" do Dylan - Joan Baez was great - but hardly cool.
DTS have done a wonderful job.
I am a DTS fan, and also have all their CD's.
Please do more Dylan!
I will buy anything you can do by Dylan!

Simply Beautiful.......2001-06-07

I saw the movie "Twist of Fate" several years ago and was taken with both the film and, especially, the soundtrack. It is simply beautiful - soft and very poignant instrumentals. I definitely recommend this CD for your collection...and the film, itself, is a sweet tale with Steve Martin in a very different role than usual.

It just doesn't get any better!.......2007-05-21

This is easily the BEST album I have bought in a long, long time. Just one MAJOR complaint, it isn't a full length album. We need more material like this, dare I say that this is even better than anything Matheos, Vera and Portnoy have done recently in their respective bands, Fates and Dream Theater. John should definetely come back with a full length album with these guys. If you're a fan of progressive rock and metal then you MUST own this album. Think Fates around the Specter and Guardian days but better. The songs are nice and long though so it isn't a short disc. It's just that a full length album of this caliber is what is much needed today. I'm going to go listen to it right now!

Tragically perfect.......2006-08-04

This album is so amazing that it hurts. Arch left music so long ago in the late 80s because of the strain of being in demanding band who used to perform live all the time. He then became a successful carpenter, which he continues to be. I thought I was dreaming when I heard he was making his comeback with this EP.

So much has been said about this album, so I'll keep this short. Both songs are epics, without a doubt, not only for their duration, but also the theatrical shifts where the music beautifully follows the vocals through the various moods of John Arch's masterful lyrics. You won't likely find more lyrical content in most full-length albums.

Arch, a Native American, has always injected his ancestors' plight into his lyrics which cause us to think back on the bloody history of America, and A Twist of Fate is no exception. This is especially prevalent in the longer track, Cheyenne, which is entirely based on the displacement of Native Americans, similar to the Fates Warning song Damnation, also featuring Arch's lyrics. However, Arch's lyrics have become considerably deeper and open to interpretation over time.

So why is this album so tragic? Well, the album came out in 2003, and we are yet to hear any news from John. There was a possibility of a couple special tour dates, but nothing materialized. Unless we see more from him in the coming years (and I know Jim Matheos will perpetually push him to work again), Arch will forever be remembered by his fans as one of the least-tapped and rarest precious resources in progressive metal history.

This guy is a vocal legend and this EP showcases the fact that he has not lost his voice over the years like others have- Walsh (croaker), Tate (lame-o), Pedroza (pop diva). This cd makes you start asking the "what if" questions. I guess we should just be happy that he came back to grace us once again. Yes you were right Pebozo - this is damn good.

...except my own silent thanks to John Arch for working so hard to provide one of the best listening experiences I've had in a long time.
His humble admission of not realizing how well the fans remember him after all this time is a great indication of how far removed he's been from music for almost 20 years as well as the unpretentious nature of this album. But he proved that he is still one of the greatest voices with this powerful and exciting EP.
Whether he does anything else musically or not, this is a wonderful treat for all time. A glimpse, maybe, at FW in a parallel life.

Just saw Andy Williams at Branson this Christmas! Fabulous! What a great man and entertainer! We purchased this album because Andy sings the song "Words" at his concert but he no longer sells this album in Branson. Amazon is the only place to get this great album! Classic!

And, I guess I have a soft spot in my heart for it because, I, too, witnessed the dance performance Natalia Melony gave to Andy's work of art. Perhaps you will be able to envision in your mind a beautiful long-haired blonde goddess dancing divinely, and twirling about to this beautiful music.....and I think you WILL see the "Vision" of her as you listen to these incredible pieces of music, done as only Andy Williams can do. I happen to believe this is Andy's best album. I can listen to it over and over, it is so beautiful, the words written for the classical melodies are perfection. I also love this album so much because I once saw a lessor-known entertainer by the name of, Natalia Melony, do an entire show of dancing to this entire album of songs. She was something to see. The combination of Andy's music with Natalia's beauty and incredible dancing, was breathtaking. It was so incredible it gave me chills up my spine. In case you are wondering who she is, you can join her fan club on Yahoo. Just punch in her name in the Clubs search box. To my amazement, I just found her name listed and joined her club! This album, recorded in London in 1984, is the finest Williams album of the past several years. The unique blending of classical melodies with lyrics makes this album unlike any other you will find. Wit Woo Sophomore Effort Definately Sophmoric.......2000-03-09

Like many bands born from the belly of plaid, coffee shops and grunge, Wit Woo is a refreshing breath of fresh sounds along the lines of Weezer, Lit and Blink 182. But rather than waxing of gloomy anti-love, pain songs like their older Seattle brothers, Wit Woo refers back to a simpler time when Rock-Em Sock-Em Robots & Stretch Armstrong ruled the toy box. With references to schoolboy crushes, super heros and livingroom furniture, Wit Woo blends tight harmonies with punchy rythmns to create a sound that leaves fans spinning in place. Unlike many of their slacker Emerald City forerunners, Wit Woo seems more comfortable drinking a Bud Lite in a bright yellow rain coat than sipping espresso and wearing Dr. Martins.

After scoring a huge local hit with their first effort, WWI, Wit Woo shows no signs of resting on their laurels. Guitarist Chip Hodges creates a fluid template of tones with the furious power chords on tracks like "URBAN MYTH" to the tastey structures of "RAID". (a song which paying tribute to older brother, Big Dope's high school band) All in all, "ENJOY" is an excellent Sophomore effort that deserves a listen.

I like Wit Woo very, very, very, very, very, very, very, much. That have a very, very, very, very, very, good sound that is very, very, very, very, very, nice. The can rock like an abolone in a muscle shell with a very, very, very, very, very good attitude. They have clever lyrics that are so clever that they are stupid. That is why I think Wit Woo's album Enjoy is very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, nice. The reasons are stated above. Now I think I have used 75 words. So thank you.
