5 out of 5 stars Amanda is chasing the sky - and very close to reaching it!.......2005-08-31

The first time I heard Amanda Stott's song, Homeless Heart, I decided I loved her, and couldn't wait to hear more from her. That wish was soon granted when I saw her open for Kalan Porter, and her last song (a hidden track on her album!) made me break out in tears. It wasn't just the beauty of the song though - it was also the power in her sweet flawless voice and, even though I wasn't very close to the stage, the fact that even from a distance it was obvious that she loved her art and was extrememly passionate about it. Just days after the concert I bought the CD. I recently saw her again and I will never forget how the songs sounded exactly like they do recorded, except more magical, or the way she looked sitting at the piano with her eyes closed, purely absorbed in the music. This is obviously a girl who loves what she does and, whatever happens in her musical career, will never stop making music. She is, and should be, an inspiration to many young girls, because her songs are totally clean and pure, she is passionate and driven, and dresses and acts in a way every parent in the world can approve of.

Her songs are all solid and if you're in a bad mood, you can't help but feel better after a long session with this CD. Some of my personal favorites are the hidden track which talks about her personal faith, and Waiting for my Star to Far, which wonders whether there is someone out there for her and if it's right to be waiting for them. My Real Life brings her back to her roots of singing with just a piano and captures perfectly all her musical talents - singing, writing and playing piano. The album title Chasing the Sky comes from the song Undeniably Real which is a bright, fun, inspiring song. Through the whole album, piano is dominant, which proves that Amanda is not willing to compromise herself for anything. She is a naturally talented girl following her dreams, and if Amanda keeps heading in the same direction she will be an extremely successful girl for many years to come.

I went to Kalan Porter's concert when he was here in Québec, and Amanda opened for him. She is absolutely fantastic live. Boy can this girl sing.

5 out of 5 stars The Amazing Amanda Stott.......2005-06-07

Amanda Stott has been one of my favourite singers for many years. I have seen her live at the Huron Carole and love her Christmas songs. Tom Jackson Introduced her as the Amazing Amanda Stott and she is indeed amazing!
I love her Chasing The Sky CD!

4 out of 5 stars Check it out!.......2005-06-04

Amanda Stott hails from Canada. She first hit the country music scene in the early 00's. Now she's back and she's grown up. She abandones the country sound for a more rock/pop/AC sound. The first single is the moving ballad "Homeless Heart". "Paper Rain" has hit written all over it. Many of the songs are ballads and carry a theme of c'est la vie and to live life to the fullest. This is evident on songs like "Maybe Tomorrow", "Song on the Radio" and "Waiting for my Star to Fall". Overall a wonderful album from a talented singer I'm sure we will be seeing more of!

5 out of 5 stars Great CD, Beautiful Voice!.......2005-03-28

I got this CD as a gift after I went to the Kalan Porter concert where she sang. I loved her voice and the content of her songs, and after that I wanted her CD. The songs have great, inspirational lyrics and you really get to know Amanda through her songs. All of them are happy, and postive. Support a great singer and Canadian singer. BUY THIS CD! It's definately worth the money. I especially like the first six songs. I could listen to this CD 3 times in a row and not get tired of it. I hope she becomes a popular singer because her music is definately worth that kind of recognition.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent Debut.......2004-06-14

Great first album. If you want simple good country songs with heart, meaning and fun, look no furthur!! No dissapointment here!!

4 out of 5 stars Good Debut from new artist.......2003-07-11

I remember hearing Amanda Stott on my local country radio station here in Calgary, when they started playing her debut single "Black is Black" back in the spring of 2000. She has a very fresh and strong voice. At only 17 she has a record contract and hopefully she goes far in her career. She has so much talent, her voice reminds me a bit of Tanya Tucker in a way, but as someone pointed out she is like the Canadian version of Lila McCann. The second single was "Somebody To Love", an uptempo song that laments the difficulty of finding someone to love, the video was quite cute and received a lot of airplay on CMT up here. Another single was the ballad "You're Not Alone", kind of an inspirational ballad. Then there was the tongue in cheek song, "To Keep From Missing You". These songs all fared pretty well. It's a shame we haven't heard much from her since this album. Hopefully she is working on another one. "All Along" is a beautiful ballad, one of the album's best. "Magic" is a fun uptempo song and same goes for "Nothin But Love" which is one of my favorites. "Reachin For A Star", like most of the other songs, has single potential. Overall the album has a nice mixture of uptempo country songs and some poignant ballads. Check out this talented young lady, you won't be disapointed.

5 out of 5 stars Go Amanda.......2002-07-10

Wow, I can't beleive I didn't know about this artist earlier. She is amazing and I'll be watching for more albums with her name on them. You need this CD.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing, Talented and So Much More..........2002-01-01

Amanda Stott is a rookie to the country music scene. For a rookie, she is pretty darn good though. Her grace, poise and talent showcase her as if she were a vetern of the industry. I'd like to call her the Lila McCann of the Canadian Country Music Scene, if I may. Amanda is young, has good writers, a great voice and with any luck, will have a lengthy career in music. Amanda's voice alone makes the album a great buy. Her debut album helps to showcase that talent with lead-off single "Black Is Black." Other didies include "Somebody To Love," which has a great video to go with it, as well as "To Keep From Missing You," and "He Loves Me Like That." I can't exactly choose a fav as the entire album is solid, but "To Keep From Missing You," and "Somebody To Love" are great listens. She is also an excellent performer. I've seen her on tv many-a-time and each time she just happens to get better and better. (The Huron Carol 2001 is an example of her outstanding work.) For any fan of music in general this album makes a nice addition to a collection, buy if you like country/pop, you can't live without this album. In twenty years time, Amanda will be all the rave, and without this album, you'll be "Reachin' For A Star" trying to find this gem.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful debut.......2001-12-26

Amanda Stott's debut album is simply amazing. Her voice is beautiful; sweet and youthful yet at the same time very powerful and surprisingly mature. She seems extremely comfortable singing different styles and her exuberant personality shines through on each track. My favourite song has to be I Just Believe that I Can: It's inspirational and just wonderful to listen to. Excellent job Amanda!
