Nobody likes Christmas more than Canadian singer Anne Murray, who first came into the public eye back in 1970 with the million-selling crossover single "Snowbird." Since that time, Murray has recorded three Christmas albums, each soothing, unassuming celebrations of the holiday. For this two-CD collection, Murray has gone back into her own vaults and dusted off some of her personal favorites from past albums and tied them up in tinsel and a big red bow. But she didn't just rely on her existing catalog, instead heading into the studio to record some new material, giving old standards like "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas," "Let It Snow," and a well-chosen medley of children's holiday songs her same straightforward approach. While there are few surprises under this tree, it's nice to have some traditions that you can count on, and Murray's warm heart and steady voice is one of them. Gotta Get This Christmas CD!!.......2007-07-10

This is by far one of the greatest Christmas compilations I've bought yet. Anne's rendition of "O Little Town of Bethlehem" still brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it - also, "Silent Night" will put chills up your spine - she makes you feel like your in the church holding a candle in the dark as she stands at the pulpit and you are the only one in the church."O Canada" - We love Anne Murray!! This is a great collection of Anne Murray's Christmas songs...and I can easily sing along with her. She has a great voice and adds a special flair to these traditional songs. I've downloaded several into my ipod file so that I may have them at my leasure...

Anne's Voice & Christmas Treatment Unique.......2005-12-23

This latest addition to our Christmas collection is welcome. Anne has a distinct sound, and her settings and expression of these Christmas favorites had everyone last evening singing along.

It has a nice sprinkling of seasonal music, e.g. medley of such as Here Comes Santa, Jolly Ole St. Nick, etc. Plus all the carols that the season should be and in most parts of world are: Silent Night, Away in a Manger.

Can you get any better rendition of "Go Tell It On the Mountain"? The accompanying musicians are excellent, especially the guitars and backup vocal harmonizations are so nice.

This is wonderful addition to anyone's Christmas joy. If you like this, also try out Alan Jackson's "Let It Be Christmas".

Brilliant collection of Anne's Christmas music.......2003-10-22

Anne recorded two seasonal albums in the eighties - Christmas wishes in 1981 and Anne Murray Christmas in 1988. This compilation contains all the tracks from those two albums plus one extra track, The season will never grow old..

Among the classic Christmas songs that everybody knows, I particularly like her version of Silver bells, but Anne is also in top form on Joy to the world, Little drummer boy, White Christmas, It came upon the midnight clear, I'll be home for Christmas, Do you hear what I hear, O holy night, Winter wonderland, Go tell it on the mountain, The Christmas song, O come all ye faithful, Away in a manger, We three kings, Mary's boy child and Silent night.

Those classic songs are great and it's good to hear Anne sing them, but for me it is the less obvious songs that make this collection particularly special. Christmas wishes, my favorite song here, is an outstanding song that deserves to become a standard but seems destined not to be. Christmas in Killarney is an up-tempo Irish song that Anne clearly enjoys singing. No room at the inn is a traditional song that is rarely heard. Sweet little Jesus boy is a great song that will be familiar to Kenny Rogers fans as he recorded it twice. The season will never grow old is a cover of a Rita MacNeil song. Born in Bethlehem is also excellent.

This is a magical Christmas collection that covers all aspects of Christmas. Most of these tracks have since appeared on the more recent double CD, What a wonderful Christmas, so you won't need both collections.

This is quite a long CD and not only features the typical Christmas fare, but also some gospel tunes. This is Christmas must have. Her voice is in top form. Overall excellent album.

Great traditional music.......2000-12-21

This is one of my favorite Christmas CDs. Anne Murray is a great singer and sings each song in a traditional and pleasant manner (no weird renditions). And with 25 songs, it's one of the most complete CDs I've ever seen from an artist. I would recommend this CD to anyone who wants "normal" Christmas music sung as it was meant to be!

Anne Murray's second Christmas album.......2003-11-22

After making her third album in 1970 a Christmas album, Canadian songbird Anne Murray waited until 1981 before releasing another holiday offering, "Christmas Wishes." Oddly enough, I had never really enjoyed Murray as a contemporary pop singer, but ever since I first picked up this album she has been one of my favorite singers of Christmas songs. The only complaint with "Christmas Wishes" is that I wish there was more than ten tracks, although these are ten extremely solid songs. The title song is the one unfamiliar track, but you will be impressed with what Murray does with the holiday standards "Winter Wonderland" and "I'll Be Home for Christmas," as well as the traditional folk song "Go Tell it on the Mountain." She is equally adept at Christmas hymns like "Joy to the World" and "Silent Night." There are a handful of singers who deserve to be part of your regular holiday rotation while trimming the tree and cooking the Christmas goose, and Anne Murray deserves to be in the mix. Just be aware that you will find most of these songs on her superb 2001 2-CD collection, "What a Wonderful Christmas."

Anne Murray's first and most countryfied Christmas album.......2003-11-22

Anne Murray might not be thought of in the same breath with Perry Como and Bing Crosby when it comes to singing Christmas songs, but she should be. "Anne Murray's Christmas" is the second of four holiday albums she has released (including one for Hallmark one year as their special Christmas album). Ever since she had her first big hit with "Songbird" it was clear she would be a natural to do Christmas songs. Of her various Christmas albums, this one is the most country, at least on what would have been the second side of the original record/cassette, where she sings "Born in Bethlehem," "No Room at the Inn," "Sweet Little Jesus Boy," and "Mary's Boy Child." The first side is where she does the traditional Christmas songs, both religious ("O Come All Ye Faithful") and secular ("White Christmas"). However, the song that might impress you the most beyond the obvious choices is going to be "Christmas in Killarney." Even though this is her earliest Christmas album there is more than enough here to show she is one of the singers you want to tick off on your first five fingers when you start naming solo artists that you want to have in your Christmas CD collection. Just be aware that most, but not all of these songs can be found on her superb 2001 2-CD collection, "What a Wonderful Christmas."
