The most perfect choices: A dazzling version of the 1930s Benny Goodman instrumental "Pick-a-Rib," the Fats Waller favorite "Whose Honey Are You?" and an obscurity from Texas Western swing bandleader Adolph Hofner, "I'll Take My Old Guitar." I Love This Album.......2005-08-26

I happened across SLUNT's video on Yahoo one day and have been hooked ever since. They are an awesome hard rock band with a great female lead singer. This is one of the best rock CDs that I have bought in years and puts me in mind of AC/DC with their simple yet effective riffs and lyrics. They are extremely cool people that I got the honor of meeting while they were out touring on their own and they are destined to make it big. Buy this CD but be careful...it can be addictive

awesome debut album.......2005-04-03

I also saw Slunt when they opened up for Marilyn Manson back in November of 2004. They had great energy on stage and really got me in the mood for Marilyn Manson to come out. I checked out their website the day after the concert, and I'm still in love with them. I picked up their debut album and it's one of the best albums I've heard in a while. The *hidden track* makes it well worth the money. :)

If you love dancing, you'll love this!.......2005-03-30

Slunt has to be one of the hardest hitting true rock and roll bands. I saw them last November when they opened for Marilyn Manson. The lyrics to "Best Thing" are so cruel it makes you wonder "Wow, that guy must've been really bad in bed..." Their energy is amazing. They really can get a crowd going. This is one of my top 10 CDs. Check out their EP as well.

I recommend this CD for fans of No Doubt and Bif Naked.

Crazy, clattersome and hella fun!.......2002-08-22

I always suspected that Dave was the brains behind the late, great Dave & Deke Combo, and that Deke just had the looks... Now, with the release of Dave's first solo album, my suspicions are confirmed. This is a flat-out awesome ton of fun -- Dave Stuckey playing upbeat western swingabilly along with a passel of hot-shot pickers from Austin and surrounding environs. Among the musicians pitching in on here are the picker's pickers, Biller & Wakefield, Whit Smith and Elana Fremerman of the Hot Club of Cowtown, and several other Gang members of equal note. The best part, though, is Dave himself. Half the songs on here are his originals, but they're so true to the style that you'd easily believe they were written back in the '40s and '50s, along with the oldies by Boudeleux Bryant, Benny Goodman and Harold Hensley. Stuckey is a for-real scholar of authentic, old-time, smirk-while-you're-singin' countrybilly music, and he stands heads above many other would-be retro-novelty singers, in his depth of knowledge, his excellent comic timing and feel for the material. (Plus, as a big Decca Records fan, I really dig the album art!) If you dug the Combo, you gotta check this album out.

Dazzling Western Swing.......2000-07-10

Captures the Bob Wills & Texas Playboys era perfectly. Swagger, dance, sing along, whatever. Loved this CD, which I first heard on KPFA Berkeley.

No longer am I "groovaliciously impaired.".......2004-03-18

I used to watch these guys live when I was in college, and this album is a great collection of their work. Crisp, eclectic, funny, moving, and totally funky stuff. A bass guitarist, an organist, a saxophone player, and three (yes 3!) drummers combine instruments and rhythms most people have never heard of to show anything and everybody gotta have a funky butt.

The talent of these guys will blow your mind. Front man Brandon Washington never runs out of energy whether he's heating up the booty, expressing his soul through his musical hands, bantering with phenomenal drummer Ian Shepherd, or attempting to "funkdify" Lawrence Welk.

Unfortunately this group split up a few years ago, so you're lucky if you can get your hands on this album. I have few CDs in the category where every song is great, but this is definitely one of them. The recording quality is way better than the samples on here portray.

So just listen to some of the samples, get hooked, and allow the FBDC to provide "the soundtrack for your groove life."
