5 out of 5 stars Great Children's CD.......2007-07-12

I grew up listening to these songs on an old record that my parents had. We lost the record and I searched for these songs for my new little baby girl. I am so happy that I found it on Amazon and that my baby girl gets to grow up with the same classics that I did when I was a kid. The CD is wonderful and the price was even better.

5 out of 5 stars Aww the good old times!.......2007-06-18

I grew up with this music!! My dad bought the records when I was little, YES records! Im 25yrs old so this was the late the 80's when he purchased it. Now I have the opportunity to introduce this to my children! I'm so glad they are continuing to sell this music because I loved it as a child. I still remember taking the records out and asking my parents to play it.

3 out of 5 stars Walt Disney CD: Characters Do Not Sing.......2007-06-06

I'm a little disappointed. I purchased this CD thinking The Disney Characters would be singing the songs. My son was all excited when I showed him the CD and asked me to play it. When he heard it he said "this is not Mickey Mouse". He was very sad. The songs on this CD are sung by children. The CD is ok.

1 out of 5 stars Garbage.......2007-05-13

Really very boring and campy - I can't bear to listen and wish I could return it. In fact all of the Disney Lullabuys and children's songs were downright horrible. Stick with Baby Einstein, Rock a Bye Baby and Just for Kids - Curious George is great too

4 out of 5 stars Yeah!.......2007-03-04

Much better than all of those other randon baby CD's where all of the songs sound exactly the same and sound like they are sung by chipmunks!!

My 2 yr old niece knows the words to every song.
We can't get through one day without her requesting to hear "carrot stew" or "when the saints go marching in".
It's her all-time favorite CD.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Fun Sing-Along CD for everyone!.......2007-07-13

This compilation of children's sing-along songs is well put together. The male voice who sings these is sprite and chipper. Much better than a group of off-key kids singing children's songs! I thoroughly enjoy listening to this and singing them with my kids.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful product.......2007-05-20

My baby loves this music CD. It was very nicely made and produced.

5 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2006-01-07

I have all four volumes and think they're all good, but volume 1 is the best.

5 out of 5 stars Great Traditional Music.......2005-08-18

I had the Disney Songtape edition of this album when I was a kid. I have always love the Disneyland Children's Sing-Along Chorus on this album. I also had volumes 1 and 2 on record. When i got older i realized that Larry Groce was the lead singer. He had a hit in the 70's called Junk Food Junkie on the Dr. Demento show. I reciently bought all 4 volumes on CD. I like to listen to them while I work. He also did the Disneyland Little Golden Books Read-Alongs. That is Where "Why Do The Make Things Like They Do" comes from and "Thumbelina" On Volume 2. I wish the re-issued the series with the the Original Record Cover Pictures. They had the Disney Characters acting out the songs.

This is great for Disney fans because it gets away from the common Mickey Mouse songs. I love them at 23 years old.

3 out of 5 stars Not the best for sing along.......2005-01-08

This album is not as much fun to sing along to as volume 1. We will probably listen to this album very rarely as I am already looking for another to replace it.

5 out of 5 stars Great fun!.......2007-07-18

My daughter (11) and nephews (8, 1) all love this CD. The older kids have fun singing & dancing with the baby, and the baby loves to listen to the CD by himself as well.

5 out of 5 stars Great songs!.......2007-02-11

My kids love these volumes of Children's Favorite Songs, as do I. The arrangements and voicings are child friendly without being dull.

5 out of 5 stars Chirldren's Favorite Songs Vol 4 Walt Disney.......2007-01-11

Great songs on this CD. Nice variety, wonderful singers. My grandchildren want it on in the car every time we go out. Lots of old favorites that I like too.

4 out of 5 stars Great songs, but this collection has many country-style songs.......2006-12-02

This CD is tolerable. We own Volume 1 and love it. I bought this one specifically for one of the songs it contains.

My son loves it, but a note to parents - this CD has a country music feel to it.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent! Highly Recommended!.......2006-04-20

I've got all 4 volumes of these Favourites on Audio Cassette! Yeah, that long ago! I've been looking to get them on CD but they don't have them on the Amazon UK site so I've come here.

They're an excellent collection. We first started listening to them in March 1995 when my 10 month old son was seriously ill in intensive care. There's something magical about the music. This music and all other music that has followed. Any kind, be it children's songs, chart music, classical etc. He loves it and I truly believe this music (and these 4 volumes being the start) has helped him talk. My son has an excellent sense of rhythm which was apparent before he could talk and he's still got it today. He's forever imitating tunes on his little toy piano and considering he's visually impaired, this is excellent. He works purely on memory and the sound of the notes. It's all thanks to these 4 volumes that he has achieved what he has so far.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Songs.......2007-07-13

My 2yr old son loves the songs. They are short and the beats are fast - it really got his attention.

5 out of 5 stars My Son Loves It.......2007-01-30

My son absolutely loves this CD. I like the fact that the songs are sung by children. I much prefer children's songs performed by children rather than adults.

3 out of 5 stars OK.......2007-01-06

My 4 year old loves music & this is a good CD but we've over played the songs a bit & he got tired of it fast.

1 out of 5 stars Every song skipped.......2006-04-06

I was very unhappy with the CD. Every song skipped the entire cd. It is very confusing to try to listen to the ABC song when every few letters, the song skips to a later part of the alphabet. For $4, it was not worth paying to ship it back and try again.

4 out of 5 stars love it.......2006-03-25

My 16 month old granddaughter loves this CD. She knows a few of the songs and motions to go with them. When the music is on, she stops what she is doing and just sits and listens.

5 out of 5 stars Another wonderful Susie Tallman CD!.......2007-06-26

I purchased this CD after absolutely loving her Children's Songs CD. Her music is so much fun to sing, sway, and dance to. I own 4 of her CD's and enjoy them all for different reasons. They are arranged and performed beautifully. It was a delightful surprise to find music for our baby that my husband and I love too! Susie's music totally relaxes our son when he is upset. It is impossible to be in a bad mood when you turn it on! It will always be included in baby shower gifts from now on.

3 out of 5 stars Not as good as her other CDs.......2007-05-13

We love Susie Tallman's "Children's Songs, A Collection of Childhood Favorites" CD, so we ordered this one. It's not as good. The second half of the CD is basically people reading some nursery rhymes, not too original.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best children's cds ever!.......2007-05-11

I checked this cd out from the library to play at my pre-school music class that I teach each week. I loved it from the first song because of all the different instruments used for background music, and then when I got to the rap song "Hickory Dickory Dock" I was laughing out loud. My kids in my class just loved it. I just bought the cd so I can play it for my own children and my grandkids.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE LOVE this CD.......2007-01-05

Susie Tallman does a great job with this CD, my husband and I find ourselfves singing these songs way after the CD has been off.

review written by dad: He likes both of them (Children's Songs, A Collection of Childhood Favorites). We dance and sing to them. They are not really falling asleep cd's. I use them after naps and they play a role in our loosely structured playtime.

Baby may not love jazz just yet, but boy is (s)he about to: This disc, the first in a series cooked up for Verve by Andy Blackman Hurwitz--who just happens to be the guy behind those nationwide "Baby Loves Disco" parties that allowed parents to shake their groove things in the name of musical education--amounts to a musical motherlode for the roots- and rock-dominated kids' category. It's not just the artists these 17 thoroughly considered tracks trot out (though with Sharon Jones of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Steven Bernstein of Sex Mob, and John Medeski of Medeski, Martin and Wood on board, droppable names abound), it's the attitude. Jazz may be known for its cool cats and smoky sophistication, but here it's pure, fizzy fun. And with depth. "Old MacDonald" becomes a bandleader--one who can bring it--ticking off his players; "Banana Boat Song" sails off somewhere both adults and kids will want to go; and "The Wheels on the Bus" do some funky maneuvering here. Stops in between to highlight individual instruments are smart enough to seem straight out of "Sesame Street," which is to say they're masterful. So is the rest of this disc, down to the red-hot closing sax riff. --Tammy La Gorce

5 out of 5 stars This had me jamming at work!.......2007-07-11

I just bought this for my 8 month old daughter. I brought it to work to listen to it and just had to write a review because I enjoyed it so much. It had me singing along and I even had to shut my door and dance to "Go Baby Go"

I can't speak to how much my daughter will like it, but I sure had fun with it. It has a lot of fun lyrics, movements and sounds for kids, and it does sound different than your average kids CD, but still accessible. The short tracks highlighting drums, bass, trombone, etc introduces kids to instruments. I'm sure she'll love it.

Are you tired of singing The Wheels On The Bus? Then get this CD. Wheels gets Jazzed.
Old McDonald has a BAND, no farm animals on this farm! McDonald has a bass, a piano, a drum, etc.
Daylight Come and We Wanna Go Home is our favorite.

5 out of 5 stars We Love It !.......2007-06-04

Afer receiving another book/CD in the series "Duck Ellington Swings Through the Zoo" and seeing how much my son loved it, I had to investigate others in the series.

Go Baby Go was my first purchase and I'm very happy with it. My 21-month old son and I have have a blast singing, dancing and bopping along with the beat. I like that he's being exposed to a different genre of music, and that its something that will keep growing with him as he gets older.

Get it! This CD has all the classic favorite children songs and talent is the best. I am married to a jazz guitar player and he thinks this is the greatest too. Get it and play it a zillion times.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!.......2007-05-06

My 21-month old son has loved this CD continuously for the past 5 months. He asks for it in the house and the car so I had to buy an extra copy!! Most of the arrangements really get us up and moving.

Tribe's fourth album, Beats, Rhymes, and Life, should be the awkward one, the album on which the group, growing up, falters a little as it figures out what it's going to do next. It isn't. Marked by a number of changes, both internally (this is the album on which the Ummah production crew takes over, and it also marks Q-Tip's new religious faith) and externally (by 1996 Quest's jazzy approach to hip-hop had fallen out of popular favor), Beats finds Tribe taking it as it comes and handling all of the challenges with flair. It's a slower, steadier album than either People's Instinctive Travels or The Low End Theory, but that's a description, not a complaint; rather, it gives you plenty of time to enjoy jams like "1nce Again." It doesn't hurt that Q-Tip and Phife Dog are feeling the flow here; an inspired pairing with distinctive voices and different strengths, they trade verses with fluid grace. --Randy Silver

4 out of 5 stars Underated.......2007-03-09

One of Tribe's best and also one of the most unheard of. Some of their greatest tracks except for the sellout "stressed out" - which inspired the industry to label them as anything but "real"

3 out of 5 stars The Fall off begins.......................2006-11-25

The addition of Q-Tip's cousin Consequence on BRL, threw me for a loop. It totally messed up the chemistry between Abstract and the 5 footer. This joint was just okay for me. Nothing like the 3 preceding classics.

4 out of 5 stars Great piece of History.......2006-06-12

A Tribe Called Quest's album "Beats, Rhymes and Life" is an overlooked album. The success of "The Low End Theory" and "Midnight Marauders" shadowed its greatness, for now, 10 years later, one can look at it and see what it was really trying to say. Much of the album complains about the East Coast vs. West Coast atmosphere of the time, urging their macho gangsta rap companions to stop the violence before things get out of hand. In September of that year, 2Pac was shot and killed in Vegas. Notorious BIG was killed next year in 1997. Nobody, apparently, was listening.

The Album marks the turn from the Low End/Midnight sound and towards what would eventually become The Love Movement. It demonstrates a perfect middle ground between the two sides and ends up better than most would expect. You wont find the greatest songs Tribe produced here, but there are some excellent tracks to be heard. Pick this up for your Tribe collection and take a glimpse into history.

4 out of 5 stars A Tribe Called Quest - Beats, Rhymes & Life.......2006-04-03

A Tribe Called Quest's (Q-Tip, Phife, Ali Shaheed Muhammad) fourth album was "Beats, Rhymes & Life" (1996). Following the release of three albums I consider classics ATCQ dropped this solid fifteen-track release after a three-year hiatus. Jay Dee (R.I.P.) teamed up with Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhamammad for "The Ummah" and helped with production on this release. My favourite track on this one is "Stressed Out", ATCQ and Faith Evans collaborate for an outstanding track. Faith Evans really impressed me on this cut, her soulful singing is excellent. Backed by some sick production ATCQ shine on cuts like "Jam", "1nce Again" and "What Really Goes On". Overall their is a notable change in production (more hard, less upbeat) and lyrics, less Jazz oriented cuts (the type I love), and more serious lyrics in my opinion. I don't consider "Beats, Rhymes & Life" to be among ATCQ's best work, it does however have some memorable moments, and some impressive production, which makes it a keeper for any big ATCQ fan. A Tribe Called Quest 1988-1998.

5 out of 5 stars Tribe Called Quest - Beats Rhymes & Life.......2006-03-10

This is an ill TCQ album! This album has some pretty ill beats on, some laid back but some with some sick loops on it. The lyrics are of course, always ill, when arent they? This is real hiphop beats though, on the real and the lyrics. Some of the beats arent that great, im more of a wu-tang beat fan haha. But there nice. Nice rhymes, good production, overall a good album. Check this out!! Real hiphop fans!

Jim Gill is a genius! His developmentally appropriate music is a huge hit with my kindergarten students. This summer, it totally saved me when teaching summer school to 3rd graders...Dr Jean is too "babyish" for the olders, but they LOVE Jim Gill. Thanks Jim!

5 out of 5 stars A "MUST HAVE" for daycare.......2007-01-08

Jim Gill sure knows how to capture young children. His CD has catchy lyrics. He also has the children participate. What a great release before we start our "schooltime".

Busta Rhymes opens his second album with a ridiculous monologue predicting global destruction before the year 2000. The only thing in danger of vaporizing over the next two years is Rhymes's career. Listening to Busta's gruff voice for well over an hour is an endurance test of the highest order, especially after MTV and radio have relentlessly subjected listeners to his "Woo-haa!" battle cry. Thankfully, Busta makes his pipes contort in every way possible on When Disaster Strikes... From mellow to wild, over an eclectic mix of samples that range from Seals & Croft to KC & the Sunshine Band to Henri Mancini. Sean "Puffy" Combs produces a track called "The Body Rock" that sounds like an old-school Tribe Called Quest cut, while Erykah Badu helps Busta forget the rampant sexism and violence for a minute as the unlikely duo gets spiritual on "One." Disaster avoided...for now. --Aidin Vaziri

Dont get burn while touchin diz masterpieace... Busta's when disaster strikes was another banger... Best tracks ? " surivval hungry" , "get off my block " , "we could take it outside" hip hop at its purest form son...

5 out of 5 stars More classic Busta Rhymes coming at ya.......2007-02-14

Busta Rhymes was on a roll. His first album The Coming, was a hip hop classic in its own right and he keeps it moving with his second effort. This album is more of the schizophrenic Busta Rhymes I remember and not the stranger Im seeing now. Songs like THE WHOLE WORLD LOOKIN AT ME, SURVIVAL HUNGRY, TURN IT UP, PUT YOUR HANDS WHERE MY EYES COULD SEE(Crazy song, even crazier video), RHYMES GALORE, THERE'S NOT A PROBLEM MY SQUAD CANT FIX, WE COULD TAKE IT OUTSIDE, ONE(one of Busta's best duets with Erykah Badu). DANGEROUS(another hot single with a weird but tight video) and GET OFF MY BLOCK keep this album in constant rotation. Filler: Get High Tonight is the worst weed record since.........Ludacris's Blueberry Yum Yum! The Body Rock also sucks plus why oh why would you make a track with Puffy and Mase(hip hop's Pinky and The Brain)? WHY?. Bottom Line: Busta's second album When Disaster Strikes proves that Busta is no flash in the pan. Hot production, super lyrics from Busta Rhymes and company are all the recipes for success on this album.

4 out of 5 stars Good CD.......2007-01-12

Bought for my husband, he loves it, says anyone who likes Busta Rhymes should have it.

4 out of 5 stars Original.......2006-10-01

FOUR AND A HALF stars. Busta is a great mc let alone a great entertainer. he leaves you singing along with the songs ie."put your hands where my eyes can see" which is very hard to do with me. when i first heard that song i went crazy and had to get this album. I still listen to is since the time i bought it.

4 out of 5 stars Busta Rhymes - When Disaster Strikes.......2006-03-16

A really really good Busta Rhymes album. Im givin it about 4.5/5 since it falls barely below 5. A lot of the tracks on here got really good production. The types of beats that Busta can rip on any day. Lyrically, Busta Rhymes does a straight job. Some songs on here are decent, but skippable also. Alot of the tracks are worth the whole listen. But dont get me wrong, you should definately go pick this album up. Its really good. Busta always gots those uptempo beats and voice. If you like any other Busta music, youll definately like this album, without a doubt. Go check it out!!!
