About the Artist
Dick Meyers has been calling square dances since 1957 and in these years has developed an extensive repertoire of the best of the American square dances. When attending his dances, one will find a combination of traditional and modern square dances on the program. All the dances are fully explained and taught for the benefit of those who may never have danced before or for review.

It is from this background that Dick selects the material for this CD series. He uses the same quick and straightforward approach to teach that he has been using on the dance floors. Dick has won widespread acclaim for his teaching methods, for his ability to keep everyone dancing and for his genuine enthusiasm.

This is the third in a series of recordings designed to provide square dancing enjoyment to persons with little or no square dancing experience. In this CD a number of popular square dances have been recorded. These dances have been chosen for their variety and ability to teach the dancers additional calls or basics of square dancing. As in the other CD's in the series, the chief end of any dancing is the enjoyment received. So to increase the pleasure, all directions for each dance are listed in the CD booklet along with the calls as they are heard on the recording. In this series vocal instruction has been recorded so dancers will receive the same type of instruction they would receive if the caller was present with them.

In this third album the following new calls will be introduced: Right Hand Star, Left Hand Star, Courtesy Turn, and Two Ladies Chain. In addition to these basics the following other basics from previous lessons are used: Honors, Circle, Walk, Forward and Back, Swing, Square Identification, Pass Thru, U-Turn Back, Promenade, Split the Ring, Separate, Do-sa-do, Lead to the Right, Grand Right and Left, Allemande Left, Frontier Whirl, Dive Thru.

This recording features part 1 with vocal instruction and music with calls and part 2 with music alone for your enjoyment.
