"...feels right, Paulie Bluenote and The Dukes have it right. These guys know what they're doing. It swings".
The guitar pickings of Paul C. is some of the best I've ever heard. Hearing Paul's voice is like traveling back in time to the classic's of the 30's, 40's, and 50's. But you can tell that he is not trying to imitate the singers of the past, that is really his voice! And it's good, I'd even say next to Matt (The Cat) Hilary of the now disbanded Lone Star Trio from Dallas, Texas, Paulie Bluenote has the best Rockabilly/Original Country Blues voice out there today.
This is no novelty act. These guys are the real thing. You won't see them playing weddings, corporate events, and birthday parties for just their look and sound. They have class, and they live that class everyday.
The guitar on this album is amazing. You can really tell it comes from the soul and not just thrown together to make an album. You will not find many people out there today that can play like this. And you can really hear that original sound for the guitars and amps they use.
The standup bass on this record is fresh and clean. It really sounds like it should. No effects, no processors, one bass, one mic. It sounds to me like they recorded this whole album in one take, in one studio, in one room, at the same time. They are that good.
The whole album is toe tappin' good. After you listen to it once or twice you'll be singing with it in no time, I was.
My only problem with this album was there needed to be more songs! I guess I'll have to wait till the next one comes out.
