Product Description:
A collection of flat-out bluegrass from one of the West Coasts premier bands. Band leader Kathy Kallick has had a strong presence in bluegrass since the 1970s, as part of the Good Ol Persons, through collaborations with fiddler/singer Laurie Lewis, and most recently with her own Kathy Kallick Band. The bands new recording contains eight powerful and evocative Kallick compositions as well as hot new tunes from Tom Bekeny and Avram Siegel. Bass player Amy Stenbergs offers glorious treatments of songs by Jake Landers and Don Gibson while Brian Wicklund (now a full-time member of the band) provides tasty fiddling throughout. Distinctive versions of classic songs learned from Jimmy Martin, the Carter Family, and Hank Williams round out the collection. The sessions for the recording of the CD were done at Tomland Studios, where Kathy recently recorded her previous album, Reason & Rhyme.
I don't believe Kathy has ever issued a bad cd, and the band is just as good in concert.
