About the Artist
Mike Estes, the band's leader, was formerly with Lynyrd Skynyrd, as guitarist and songwriter. His love for Nascar drove him to collaborate with his neighbor and Skynyrd's road manager, Paul Abraham, and write six of the ten tracks on the CD. They hooked up with Speedway Children's Charities out of Charlotte, NC, and have achieved a certain amount of success among the race fans of America. The other band members were recruited by Mike, starting with the simply stated bassist, Bird. Bird provides an awesome bottom end and backing vocals for this powerful band. He wrote, perhaps, the most poignant song written in many years, paying homage to the heroes of the fans in Asphalt Angels. Jim Jenness, the drummer and an excellent vocalist in his own right, lives in Jacksonville, Florida. His family were entertainers across Mid America several years ago, playing fair circuits and revivals, giving a whole new meaning to Gospel Music. Randy Peak, lead guitarist, has played around the Cincinatti, Ohio area for many, many years, and for much of his early life, shared the stage with Mike Estes in the regional favorite, Helen Highwater. All together, Drivin' Sideways, has become a huge favorite of the Nascar Country syndicated radio network, as well as the John Boy and Billy network of of Charlotte.

The Perfect Sound Track For Race Day.......2003-03-14

This is a must for the CD player while you are sitting in race day traffic. "What Else Would I Do On Sunday" is my favorite, along with the song about Dale, Sr.

Warning -- if you are a fan of the "new age" of NASCAR, this isn't for you. It's country to the core, and respects and honors the sport's "Old Dawgs." If you like Tony Stewart and rap music, buy "Crank It Up."

I could listen to this CD all day long. The songs are so beautiful and are really sang out about Nascar. The Intimidator is very well sang with excellent beat. It brings back so many memories of Dale. Also Asphalt Angels will bring you in tears. A great CD to add to your Nascar collection...

NASCAR Forever.......2001-03-15

I LOVE this album! It has some really amazing tunes! I actually prefer this album's version on Earnhardt than any I ever heard before or after his untimely passing and I am a Gordon fan! Great job and all race fans will enjoy this one I think!!
