The long awaited solo debut from Arizona Americana artist Dave Insley shines with talent. Dave's down home voice and oustanding songwriting skills create an album of pure pleasure. The CD captures your attention from the first notes to the last with an outstanding variety of tunes. There is something here for everyone--ballads, honky-tonk, rock and roll and pure country. The title track, "Just Call Me Lonesome" is arguably one of the best country songs ever written. This is a CD you will definitely want to add to your collection!

Look No Further for Real Country Music.......2005-03-29

Dave Insley knows how to write a song. His lyrics are clever, quirky, fun to listen to; his melodies are haunting, or toe-tapping, or just plain bouncy; and he can really, really sing them. With a thundering baritone voice that commands attention and yet remains as comfortable and homey as any weekend honky-tonker, Insley sells his own songs with a precision and style that only a very few other singer/songwriters manage. With "Call Me Lonesome," his first solo CD, this former Nitpicker and Trophy Husband demonstrates every one of his formidable skills, which also include producing the disc.

Nashville may never take notice of guys like Dave. The mainstream will probably never realize what it's missing. But every time I meet someone who says they like country music, I recommend Dave Insley. Dave certainly puts the western back in country; but he's no retro artist. This disc is sharply modern, even as it embraces ancient folk music themes, such as family stories, lost love, and, of course, death. It swings, rocks a little, and remains wholly country. Americana lovers rejoice. Arizona Country is catching up with Texas Country. Dave Insley leads the pack.

Hard Working Arizona Artist Produces Another Excellent Album.......2005-03-29

My first listen to Call Me Lonesome by Dave Insley put me in some out of the way Arizona honky tonk on a Saturday night with plenty of beer, whiskey, and unsavory characters. Insley has obviously lived an interesting life so far, maybe a tad on the dangerous side, and this well lived life comes though loud and clear on nearly all of the cuts on the CD. He mixes his genres seemlessly and that weathered baritone voice is comfortable in all of them. I especially liked the first cut, "There's Gonna Be A Few Changes Made Around Here". It catches your interest right away and the entire CD won't let you go until it is done with you. The song titled "Maricopa Mountains" is as beautiful a tribute to the great State of Arizona as I have ever heard. Move over Dolan Ellis, Dave Insley is here to stay!

Great new CD from a long-time Arizona artist who has also been in the Trophy Husbands and the Nitpickers. This solo CD features his best original material and some top-notch pickin' and singin'. Highlights include the title tune, "Maricopa Mountains" (a lovely duet with Rosie Flores), and the speed-crazed, tongue-twisting "Roy Boy". Highly recommended for fans of country, Americana, and rock & roll. (Dave is currently on the road with his band the Careless Smokers, and they always put on a great show - go out and see them if they come to your town!)

Home grown music at it's finest..........2005-03-29

Dave Insley's Call Me Lonesome is one of the finest cross-sections of music I've heard in some time. He effortlessly combines ruckus honky-tonk country, beautiful ballads with a western feel, and a few tracks that skate across the border into the land of rock-n-roll.

"There's gonna be some changes around here", not only gets your foot tappin', but it sends a shock of electricity to get your butt off the bar stool and cut a rug with your closest viable dance partner. While the track "Maricopa Mountains" (the duet with Rosie Flores) will take your imagination on a journey across the great state of Arizona.

With all the overly commercialized crap that Nashville is cranking out these days, Dave's music make me want to get up and jump for joy that country music (and good music in general) is not dead.

Not what I expected.......2000-09-30

This compilation does not contain titles of real hit movies. It contains mostly sentimental or comic songs from old movies and even from the ones I managed to recognise only a handful were original. It struck me hard to find "Enae Volare" from "Les Visiteurs", the only title I ordered this compilation for, terribly altered but that might concern me alone. Finding "What a Feeling" from "Flashdance" similarly altered made me wonder... later, on the back of the box, I found a small note saying, as I could decrypt from French, that the songs in the album were not necessary original. I should've been warned about this in advance!
