Elder statesman of Country and Bluegrass Mac Wiseman, has been involved in music since the early 1940’s. He has recorded with Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs and the Osborne Brothers.

And in the mid-1950’s he began carving out a solo career which took him to the top of the Country Singles charts as well as establishing him as a mainstay at Bluegrass festivals internationally.

Music Mill Entertainment is proud to announce that we have contracted with Mac Wiseman Enterprises/Wise Records to nationally distribute nine Mac Wiseman titles. Until now, these titles have been available only in a limited capacity.

Bobby Bare RULES!.......2001-01-10

I was very pleased to find this CD because I really dig Bobby Bare and for some reason it's incredibly difficult to find alot of his music. He's an original outlaw as far as I'm concerned. And he made alot of cool songs. Two of his greatest albums are DOWN and DIRTY and DRUNK and CRAZY. I can't find these anywhere!Does anybody else worship the guy like me? If so, you'd better grab this LIVE at GILLEY'S CD while it's here or it just might vanish like the rest of his stuff did. Alot of great songs! It's worth every dime!

It is only fitting that the troubled and troublesome honky-tonker begins this 1985 set with George Jones's classic "I'm Ragged But I'm Right." This riveting document captures Johnny Paycheck at the cliff's edge: only two months later, following years of drug and alcohol abuse, his personal demons finally took over in an Ohio bar when Paycheck shot an argumentative stranger in the head. What this all means in terms of the crude, coarse music heard here is simple: his voice is shot to hell, his band is rough in spots, and yet the overall performance becomes all the more compelling because of it. It would be difficult to find music that is more unpretentious, genuine, and emotionally intense, especially on the heart-wrenching ballads. The show, originally broadcast for the Gilley's radio show, mixes Paycheck's own stark compositions, his biggest hits, and a number of select covers. --Marc Greilsamer

I was a little disappointed.......2003-05-03

This one was a little bit of a letdown. This songs are there but the mix leaves a lot to be desired. It's way too heavy on pedal steel and drums and Mike McBrides fantastic bass work is almost inaudible. PayCheck's great soulful voice, while always raspy, sounds like he'd spent too many days on the road and he seemed to have trouble with his usual range. Still it's another one for my collection.

An Excellent Live Honky-Tonk Album.......1999-07-29

Paycheck is in fine form on this album. He cranks out all his hits and favorite tunes. I'm am a pedal steel guitar player and if you are another player or a big fan of the sound, you are in for a treat on this album. The steel duties are handled by Jim Murphy on this and he is in fine form. If you are a fan of Honky Tonk Country, you'll love this album.

Action-Packed Jerry Lee Lewis Live!.......2001-09-16

This CD is the finest Jerry Lee Lewis performance out of all of the CDs and video cassette tapes that I have of him. Most of the songs are fast-paced "action" type instead of his slower (country-style) music.This is a must for any fan/collector of JLL. Hopefully more CDs of this quality will be available by Jerry Lee soon.

Great Live Album! Next best thing to being there!.......2000-02-26

This is the next best thing to being there. A great live set - reflecting JLL current stage show. If you are looking for a recent concert CD for your collection this is great. If you just want the hits or one JLL album take one of the Greatest Hits package. One for the JLL collector rather than the occasional listener.

A superb live Jerry Lee Lewis album........1999-11-15

I purchased this album about a month ago, and I can honestly say this is one of the finest recently released JLL albums to date. The album was originally recorded at the now defunct "Gilley's" bar in Texas during the late 70's throughout the 80's (Mickey Gilley is JLL's cousin).The album contains a majority of JLL standards, and a rocking version of Chuck Berry's, "Memphis, Tennessee." If you like JLL, and especially his live act, you will love this album. Listen to it!

A disappointment.......2002-03-21

This is an extremely poor sounding and lackluster performance from Johnny Lee. I have always been a fan of Lee's work, as well as of live recordings, and was excited when this release was announced. I was hoping this recording would transport me to one of the great honky tonks at the height of its popularity. However, Lee appears to merely be going through the motions (and sounds downright bored on some tracks) and this CD fails to capture any excitement whatsoever. The terrible sound quality (it almost sounds like a monaural television soundtrack) doesn't help matters. Those who experienced Gilley's in the 1980s may find more historical value in this recording than I do. However, for me, the only attributes saving it from a one star rating are the interesting liner notes and the overall quality of the songs. Anybody interested in Johnny Lee is strongly advised to stick with the excellent Warner Brothers greatest hits package, which contains far superior versions of virtually all of the songs contained here.
